Hello and thank you for your kind words! I hope you enjoy other similar projects I've done (the sunken city) and I'll do in the future! The plane wreck lies in a depth of 10 to 11 meters, about 190 meters from the coast (according to measurements from Google Maps). The boat traveled in a curve due to the wind so it covered about 450 to 500 meters for the whole journey. I used an airplane transmitter and receiver, so range was not an issue. It could easily go further.
It probably sounds like that because during most of the video it was operating at 60-70%. At 100% the motors sound a lot healthier but I wanted to make sure nothing went wrong. These are my first proper RC boats and I'm gathering experience. I didn't want to risk anything overheating while the boat was 200 meters from the coast.
In the island exploration video it was actually moving much faster. I rarely exceeded 50-60% power here. I wanted to reach the plane with no problems, so I played it safe... 😁
Man this is sooo cool! I would love to see a pointier bow, I think it would cut through the waves better, and I'm sure you would get a better underwater cam some day but hey, I'm happy to see someone actually makes something as cool as this!
Thanks! I just got a DJI Action 2, so I'll probably use that for underwater footage in the future. My Sony is very old and I think something is wrong with it's optics and it's always out of focus.

I plan to build a sub and visit the plane again. I'll probably deploy it from a full sized boat though. It would be very difficult to control both the sub and parent boat at the same time.

@@brickandgear highly recommend it, I live up north on the west coast of England and the water is so brown it looks like diorreah and it’s so cold, I used to think Mallorca was cold but here? And it’s consistently raining
I would definitely change the transmission to make it more robust. On this boat, both motors turned the same axle that went all the way down to the propeller. If you check my latest video, I used the same transmission concept with a small tweak. Each motor turned its own axle that made its way down to the propeller, thus splitting the torque between the two vertical axles. This gave me the ability to utilize maximum power on the motors, thus achieving greater speed on an even bigger and heavier boat.
For my future boat designs, I'll probably 3D print sealed compartments to house the motors and sensitive electronics. A silicone-based grease would be an excellent idea to seal all the shafts!

Dude so cool! Did you do lots of testing before hand? How did you know how many pieces you would need for the build? Did you use a pc program to map the build?
I used LEGO Digital Designer for the design process and tested the boat with three different transmission setups in my bathtub. I ran the final setup for 10 minutes at full power in the bathtub and then went for it. I don't have enough time for lots of testing!

I experimented with a submersible a few years ago (you can find the video in the channel). I really want to build a better sub but I'll need to experiment more on sealing the axles, as water gets inside easily when you dive more than two meters. Using a boat as a relay would be very fun but extremely difficult. It's quite windy in Greece, so the relay boat would need constant adjustments to stay in one place. Can you imagine me trying to tackle a boat, a sub and a drone at the same time? Pure comedy... 😁
I'm currently Creating a Bricklinks Studio file of this based off of the visuals I see in the video to try and replicate the hull except using lego motors and putting my own spin on the Style. I want to build my own Lego Technic boat one day, but I'm new to Legos and it's good to study off of what others built. If I successfully complete the file, would you like a copy of it? I'm still learning the software, but it's actually pretty straight forward. Also, if you respond to this comment, is there any way you can get me part numbers for the propeller and accessories?

It's incredible how the boat despite the strong currents and the relatively big waves kept going.
Yeap. The toughest part of the project was having enough power to battle the waves, currents and wind, without breaking the transmission.

I managed to throw in some extra mechanics. 2 motors will drive belts with weights to level out the boat depending on floating conditions

You mean the pieces of styrofoam? I cut them myself and covered them with adhesive tape.
You should add a little submarine that can dock into the boat and have a little door to make it look good on the boot

It's for large RC tugboats. Ideal for relatively low rpm and open water applications.
