I love listening to you talk, it’s like you are here with me. I also love watching you draw and paint and your walks in the woods. I live in Calgary Alberta Canada and our forests are so different. I miss oak trees, I was born in England, and raised in Southern Ontario and we had lots of then…sigh…there are trees here that are special in other way. ❤

Hello, The Unexpected Gypsy, I’m new to your channel as of this evening and I’ve watched quite a few of your videos already, I love them. I really appreciate you talking about the creative process, the way it ebbs and flows.. and not to be too hard on ourselves. I think that’s very true and such an important thing to remember, I always try to be a robot woman but that’s not actually who I really am! So it’s great to be reminded. Through your channel and a few others, I have picked up paints and paper for the first time in maybe fifteen years! I’ve just been exhausting myself in academic, not honouring the creative process (and of course, all that writing IS actually artistic in its own way) and becoming dull and morose. Don’t worry - oil painting is fun- I struggled in the very beginning after being a watercolorist- you just vary the color to make it interesting and you can ALWAYS paint over bits you don’t like. Easiest to start with something with variety of color but not crazy complicated. Very forgiving medium but new skills are - well - new. Enjoy. Thanks for a great channel - I like the TLC .

Dear Wendy: It's so lovely having all this content (earlier videos) that I haven't seen simply because I discovered you and your channel later. I don't watch them in a particular order. This one came as the next suggestion from TH-cam. Others I've chosen perhaps because something in the title drew my attention; others followiing a thread like your moving out of the first studio, and I want to see how it all went. I've seen many but still have loads of happy, soothing hours of unseen footage, filled with all kinds of emotions but above all, the authentic you! Priceless.. Thank you.

I stumbled into junk journals over lockdown and then mixed media and you! I cross stitch, embroider, I knit and want to learn to crochet this winter. I’m quite an introvert and that’s the opposite of how I was when I was younger. Lockdown suited me! I would love a studio like yours. I would love to work large and I’m limited by where I work. That’s a very small complaint. You are such an inspiration. I’m looking forward to learning a great deal from your videos as time goes on. I have some old sketchbooks left over from my Uni days in the 90's, you know the black hard cover books with white pages. I just ordered some matte gel medium and decoupage and some lovely vintage floral and birds decoupage paper. You have inspired me to start art journaling. I am going to use brown paper grocery bags etc to re do the covers, get out my stamps and inks and acrylic paints. I studied painting and drawing the human figure but went to massage therapy school and got into body work and now I do distance healing and intuitive angel readings. I have been pushing myself regarding my knitting to learn more. I have been playing it very safe with what I know. I am also trying new types of wood. I am now knitting a shawl with a hemp/Peruvian wool blend and combined that with a strand of mohair. I am very pleased with the outcome. I have also purchased some organic wool to make a sweater. I have also lately been teaching myself a bit of Norwegian knitting. I am learning to be patient and not to worry about staring over 4 or 5 times if needed. It is the process of learning isn’t it.

Nice :) I started oil painting as well recently. It's been challenging but fun. If there is one thing this pandemic has really kickstarted is me finally making progress in Art outside professional work. I'm not super consistent but I'm consistently doing something.
I enjoy your channel tremendously. Your paintings and journals are interesting. I like that they take you ages to complete, and that you manage to accomplish a great deal of finished work, despite ‘Wendy Waffling” from time to time. We’ll have to let each other know how we get on... I didn’t make my mittens, they are hand knitted by a local lady who spins, dyes using natural dyes and then knits from silk and Marino wools. I got given them by her and because I have renauds disease I get numb fingers and these really help. Maybe we could crochet some??? Play some hooky over on your channel? I have recommended your channel all over the place!! Can’t wait to get time to actually do some crocheting too.... 😚😚

Dunno if I have any utterly unused art supplies at this point, other than a pad of scrapbooking paper in blue prints after that blue and white everyday china print theme, but it's prob time to lay in a supply of fresh fine art and beading things. I feel doing videos is moving out of my comfort zone already, but now it is time to show my face actually on video even though I feel very nervous about that as I am older and rather rotund (putting it politely)! I bought the Windsor & Newton waterbased oils and I love them. I can't use thinners etc because I'm asthmatic, so being able to clean up with water and thin with regular olive oil is a godsend. Jackson's have them at a very reasonable price when they do W&N promotions
I bought some nice oil pastels I haven't opened yet. Not sure if I want to use oils yet, I only have a room in my house and the fumes get me. Eventually I will use them and get to it and let go of my fear of going into the void of oils.
Hi there! I am delighted to see you shifted your energy despite not feeling well in your body. I have a question about the two table easels I see in your studio at the beginning of the video. I paint in a studio in my apartment and am trying to set something up for larger canvasses. I haven't seen table easels like that before. They seem really structurally sound and functional. Could you tell me about them specifically what you like and what you'd change, given the ability to design. Sorry, i guess that's a bit much. AND while i was typing i almost missed the beautiful walk at the end
Hi 🌷🌷thank you for watching. Re the easels, they are both old, but one might still have the name on it so I will look on Monday when I’m next in the studio. One is better as it’s sturdier. But they work great 👍
@@theunexpectedgypsy Thank you for that!! At the moment i'm planning to work on a board with a lip supported on two stools in front of a tall shelving unit. Theoretically, it is fully functional, breaks down easily when not in use and I think i can lower it by replacing the stools with 6 inch risers for the rare big substrate.
I think, whatever works for you is perfect. Yes, easels are great but tbh, mostly I work small on a desk or I have a wall set up as my ‘easel’ and paint my bigger pieces there. It’s down to what’s comfy for me!! Taurus moon!! I like the sound of your improvised set up 👌👌👌

I like to use natural mineral pigment with walnut oil to create an oil paint. I bought a kit from natural paints here in the US. No smell if you’re in a small space and good for the environment. (Although lately I use watercolor or watercolor pencils)

Its really impressive that you are so good in such a short time. I wanted to ask you about patreon, I was thinking of using it to have classes but my fallowing is still small, should I just wait until it grows or start recording the classes? You have a larger fallowing than me but its still small enough to what I think it will be in time. I really value your opinion on this. Thanks for the lovely videos I love them. I cant beleave you were making those nice videos on windows iplayer, I was using that for ages when I started but it is a great program to start with final cut pro can be intimidating if you have never edited a video. You asked what we were struggling to learn, I am still learning how to joggle my 3 part time jobs and building an art business. I am struggling with all the technology to build a on line art business and still find time to actually make art. I also struggle with making art in my room and now my partner is moving in so finding a spot to record videos and make art might be a challenge but people do it so I can to. I love it so much I know if I can pull it off it will be a job I will be happy to do for the rest of my life and living with my partner. what is better than that, nothing for me. Excuse my ingnorance but whats the difference between your videos and vlogs, I am a total technophobe. I feel so sad and sorry for people who get down by change, or no change, winter, rain etc etc. I love winter and rain. Am hopeless at new skills but it doesnt get me down. I loved that we had lockdown, it was actually nice and quiet, everyone stayed home but I still got to do my art and potter in the garden and I also discovered aheap of art TH-cams.. we love your chats. Of course you get lots of comments and views, you are different, you wear your heart on your sleeve and you make people happy.but you have to do what works for you. Tip for FCP - Shift+b is your best friend. It's the cut shortcut. Just place your cursor and cut. So speedy!
I’m trying to learn Procreate on my iPad, I’m drawing some lilies but the blending is tricky but I’m sure I’ll get it eventually 🙈

Hello, The Unexpected Gypsy, I’m new to your channel as of this evening and I’ve watched quite a few of your videos already, I love them. I really appreciate you talking about the creative process, the way it ebbs and flows.. and not to be too hard on ourselves. I think that’s very true and such an important thing to remember, I always try to be a robot woman but that’s not actually who I really am! So it’s great to be reminded. Through your channel and a few others, I have picked up paints and paper for the first time in maybe fifteen years! I’ve just been exhausting myself in academic, not honouring the creative process (and of course, all that writing IS actually artistic in its own way) and becoming dull and morose. Don’t worry - oil painting is fun- I struggled in the very beginning after being a watercolorist- you just vary the color to make it interesting and you can ALWAYS paint over bits you don’t like. Easiest to start with something with variety of color but not crazy complicated. Very forgiving medium but new skills are - well - new. Enjoy. Thanks for a great channel - I like the TLC .

Dear Wendy: It's so lovely having all this content (earlier videos) that I haven't seen simply because I discovered you and your channel later. I don't watch them in a particular order. This one came as the next suggestion from TH-cam. Others I've chosen perhaps because something in the title drew my attention; others followiing a thread like your moving out of the first studio, and I want to see how it all went. I've seen many but still have loads of happy, soothing hours of unseen footage, filled with all kinds of emotions but above all, the authentic you! Priceless.. Thank you.

I stumbled into junk journals over lockdown and then mixed media and you! I cross stitch, embroider, I knit and want to learn to crochet this winter. I’m quite an introvert and that’s the opposite of how I was when I was younger. Lockdown suited me!
I would love a studio like yours. I would love to work large and I’m limited by where I work. That’s a very small complaint.

I have some old sketchbooks left over from my Uni days in the 90's, you know the black hard cover books with white pages. I just ordered some matte gel medium and decoupage and some lovely vintage floral and birds decoupage paper. You have inspired me to start art journaling. I am going to use brown paper grocery bags etc to re do the covers, get out my stamps and inks and acrylic paints. I studied painting and drawing the human figure but went to massage therapy school and got into body work and now I do distance healing and intuitive angel readings. I have been pushing myself regarding my knitting to learn more. I have been playing it very safe with what I know. I am also trying new types of wood. I am now knitting a shawl with a hemp/Peruvian wool blend and combined that with a strand of mohair. I am very pleased with the outcome. I have also purchased some organic wool to make a sweater. I have also lately been teaching myself a bit of Norwegian knitting. I am learning to be patient and not to worry about staring over 4 or 5 times if needed. It is the process of learning isn’t it.

Nice :) I started oil painting as well recently. It's been challenging but fun. If there is one thing this pandemic has really kickstarted is me finally making progress in Art outside professional work. I'm not super consistent but I'm consistently doing something.

I like that they take you ages to complete, and that you manage to accomplish a great deal of finished work, despite ‘Wendy Waffling” from time to time. I haven’t heard anyone else called a Chatterbox. That’s what my mom calls me sometimes. A little introverted, a little extroverted -I get it. Me too! There are so many things you said in this vlog that resonate with me. To be honest, if you happen to make a chatty vlog that’s an hour or more long, that’s alright with me. I learn from you, but also find your way of speaking incredibly relaxing. We’ll have to let each other know how we get on... I didn’t make my mittens, they are hand knitted by a local lady who spins, dyes using natural dyes and then knits from silk and Marino wools. I got given them by her and because I have renauds disease I get numb fingers and these really help. Maybe we could crochet some??? Play some hooky over on your channel? I have recommended your channel all over the place!! Can’t wait to get time to actually do some crocheting too.... 😚😚

Another lovely video, I enjoyed it a lot. I am using Adobe Premiere Elements for editing my videos and it has been fun to learn it. I feel doing videos is moving out of my comfort zone already, but now it is time to show my face actually on video even though I feel very nervous about that as I am older and rather rotund (putting it politely)! I bought the Windsor & Newton waterbased oils and I love them. I can't use thinners etc because I'm asthmatic, so being able to clean up with water and thin with regular olive oil is a godsend. Jackson's have them at a very reasonable price when they do W&N promotions

I've always wanted to dabble into oils. I have no idea where to start though as most of what I'm used to is watercolor and acrylic.
I bought some nice oil pastels I haven't opened yet. Not sure if I want to use oils yet, I only have a room in my house and the fumes get me. Eventually I will use them and get to it and let go of my fear of going into the void of oils.
You can use odour free thinners or just safflower oil with oils... I haven’t ordered mine yet but it’s on my todo list, 🌷🌷

Hi there! I am delighted to see you shifted your energy despite not feeling well in your body. I have a question about the two table easels I see in your studio at the beginning of the video. I paint in a studio in my apartment and am trying to set something up for larger canvasses. I haven't seen table easels like that before. They seem really structurally sound and functional. Could you tell me about them specifically what you like and what you'd change, given the ability to design. Sorry, i guess that's a bit much. AND while i was typing i almost missed the beautiful walk at the end
Hi 🌷🌷thank you for watching. Re the easels, they are both old, but one might still have the name on it so I will look on Monday when I’m next in the studio. One is better as it’s sturdier. But they work great 👍
@@theunexpectedgypsy Thank you for that!! At the moment i'm planning to work on a board with a lip supported on two stools in front of a tall shelving unit. Theoretically, it is fully functional, breaks down easily when not in use and I think i can lower it by replacing the stools with 6 inch risers for the rare big substrate.
I think, whatever works for you is perfect. Yes, easels are great but tbh, mostly I work small on a desk or I have a wall set up as my ‘easel’ and paint my bigger pieces there. It’s down to what’s comfy for me!! Taurus moon!! I like the sound of your improvised set up 👌👌👌

I like to use natural mineral pigment with walnut oil to create an oil paint. I bought a kit from natural paints here in the US. No smell if you’re in a small space and good for the environment. (Although lately I use watercolor or watercolor pencils)

I cant beleave you were making those nice videos on windows iplayer, I was using that for ages when I started but it is a great program to start with final cut pro can be intimidating if you have never edited a video.
You asked what we were struggling to learn, I am still learning how to joggle my 3 part time jobs and building an art business. I am struggling with all the technology to build a on line art business and still find time to actually make art. I also struggle with making art in my room and now my partner is moving in so finding a spot to record videos and make art might be a challenge but people do it so I can to. I love it so much I know if I can pull it off it will be a job I will be happy to do for the rest of my life and living with my partner. what is better than that, nothing for me. Excuse my ingnorance but whats the difference between your videos and vlogs, I am a total technophobe. I feel so sad and sorry for people who get down by change, or no change, winter, rain etc etc. I love winter and rain. Am hopeless at new skills but it doesnt get me down. I loved that we had lockdown, it was actually nice and quiet, everyone stayed home but I still got to do my art and potter in the garden and I also discovered aheap of art TH-cams.. we love your chats. Of course you get lots of comments and views, you are different, you wear your heart on your sleeve and you make people happy.but you have to do what works for you. When I want to chill out I sit and draw pictures of Jesus it is an excellent way to pray by using drawing I am on face book and the Lingschurch web site I also play the guitar
