    Hey man I got that U660E transmission! My car won’t shift at all out of gears. Turns on and off as if stuck in neutral. Check engine light on indications solenoid are stuck or off. Not a lot of metal shavings in transmission, but the fluid was dirty!

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The valve body will need to be removed. After that there is a bracket that holds the SLU and SLT solenoids in place. Once that is taken off you can remove it. If you are super lucky you can loosen the valve body just enough so you can get the solenoid out and hope the seals under the valve body do not move out of position.

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are held in with brackets and bolts. Pull the bolt that is holding the bracket for the particular solenoid you need to replace. Pull the bracket off and the solenoid will slide out. The small one on the end has the bracket made onto the solenoid.

    I recently had a local shop repair this transmission . Their rebuild failed 8k after rebuild and then they suppossedly fixed it and it failed again 2k miles outside their warranty. Im getting a pressure error and check vsc on my lexus. Im thinking a rebuilt valvebody would be great but I cant find anyone selling one anywhere. All I see are the zip kits. What do you think of these? Im getting errors on all solenoids and the pressure solenoid. Ive pulled valve bodies out before but is a zip kit plus new solenoids something a shadetree can pull off?

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  ปีที่แล้ว

      What is the code? If you are going to spend that kind of money on the valve body buy you a new one, IMHO. Don't buy a rebuilt one. I have put the zip kits in with fairly good success. If you have done valve bodies before you could probably do this. They are a bit of a pain on this transmission though. It is a lot of work. Prep and installation.

      Is it a brand new computer? If not you may have replaced it with one that is not compatable with the pressure switch set up you have. How many pressure switches is there on the valve body, and what did the computer come out of? It could just be a bad pressure switch assembly. They are problematic. Don't worry about the VSC code for now, it will probably go away when you fix the transmission code.

    Do you own a shop? My 2009 ES350 with the U660E is not throwing any lights but is shifting hard from 2-3. Right before it shifts it heavily 'enging brakes' before getting into gear. All other gears shift like butter.

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No I don't. Go here if you need one. atra.com/ShopFinder I am assuming this is before an rebuild. Just because the light is not on does not mean there are not any codes. These are prone to valve body wear and molded pistons not sealing correctly. Leading to burned clutches.

    Hi.
    I have Sienna 2011 U660E. I have P2714, P0746, P0776 codes. I did take off the oil pan and saw that the fluid was dirty black. I did change the filter and the oil (static change, something about 2,5 l) but this did not help. I still got the same errors. I did test using Autel the solenoids and I can hear that they make a sound (SL1-4). When I am testing SLT I got strange sound (like something is stuck). I am thinking of replacing the SLT solenoid as I think that others are working fine. I have gears 1-4 only now. I saw that if I want to replace SLT I need to drop the whole valve body (which I am a bit worry to do). I saw that I can only loosen a bit the valve body and try to take the solenoid... I have only one question. Do you think that some other things can be broken in the transmission itself (clutch or something else...)? Is this possible to fix that transmission at all???

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have only seen 1 of these that the case bearing race was not worn, most are severely worn. The direct clutches and steels are probably burned up. The pistons will be bad, even if they look good. The valve body will be worn as well as some solenoids. It's fixable but will be expensive.

    Hi. Have got a u660E transmission for Lexus es350 2008. All works well except when hot would refuse to go into reverse. Have also got a p0770 transmission fluid pressure switch circuit high which came up after replacement of the valve body with a u660E from a Lexus Rx350 2011. Also got a torque converter solenoid circuit high. Replaced the TCM and all still same. Any pointer in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you sure it was P0770? I find no listing for that code. You may have an internal harness problem. What is the torque converter code? Reverse can be shut off electrically. May be your problem as you did not say you have a problem in 1st or 3rd & 5th, as these gears use the 2 sets of clutches that operate reverse. Did you replace the valve body because of the reverse problem? What were the codes before the valve body replacement?

      @@CurmudgeonTransmission sorry my bad. The current code I have on it is p0990( transmission fluid pressure switch( tps3) circuit high and p2757( Torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid control circuit performance or stuck off. Previous codes before now were p0776, P2757, P2808. Vehicle drags while moving forward at first but I replaced the valve body with one from a Lexus Rx350 with a u660E transmission and those codes up there went off. Vehcile now shifts all through 1-6 without a drag but as soon as the p0990 and p2757 comes up when coming to a stop the vehicle brakes it self. The feeling you get when you suddenly brake. When hot vehicle doesn’t reverse. What i do in some cases when cold if it doesn’t reverse is actuate all the solenoid using my scan tool and this helps in making it move in reverse

    I was given my first Highlander 14 V6 FWD 3.5 XLE to fix. I have 2 months with the truck and pretty stuck. No codes are shown, it only shows pressure Loss in reverse. Now the piston that is used for reverse does work because I applied pressure for test functionality and passed. My only quick guess is that the U660e body valve has an issue. The D shift works great for shift 1, 2, and 3. Shift 4 starts failing and never reach Shift 5 and 6.
    Could you advise if I need new u660e body valve or where could issue be? Good news client is family member because of the lead time.

      Could be a valve body problem. Most are worn out, especially if it has high mileage. But have seen low mileage ones worn out. Most have a bad case also. Only seen 1 that was not bad. The bearing race in the case starts spinning making fine aluminum and clogging the solenoids. You cannot replace it yourself, it has to be machined out and sleeved.

      Have you tried WIT, Transtar or the dealer? Links are in the description for WIT & Transtar. The bulletins say you have to use the 3 switch with the 3 hole plate and the single with the single. I see no reason you could not put a 3 on a single and it not work. The other 2 switches don't need holes. The computer will never know because ther are no wires going to the other 2. The wires are still going to the same pins.

      Thanks for the reply, I was able to get a single switch assembly. I dropped the pan and removed the filter. Then I removed the sensor and put on the new one. Put everything back together and adjusted the fluid level. But when I try to shift now nothing happens, it’s just permanently in park. Makes me think fluid got in the wiring. The switch itself actually popped out of the assembly, but I put it back in. Do I have to clean the wire connections before I plug it in? Again, shifting does nothing, it’s not even trying to shift.

    • @wyattthorleifson7145
      @wyattthorleifson7145 ปีที่แล้ว

      @CurmudgeonTransmission  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a scanner that shows data you can manually check to see if it will change status. Pull the sensor off and push on it. If it is changing I would have to say it is a bad TCM. If it is not it may be a bad internal harness or TCM.

    • @wyattthorleifson7145
      @wyattthorleifson7145 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing is it was still able to shift before I drained the fluid and worked on it. Now it won’t shift at all. I checked the shift lever and it still moves. I can’t think of what could’ve broken just by me removing the fluid. The fluid was very burnt and had chunks of metal in it. So that makes me think by draining it it moved some metal bits into something causing it to seize. My next idea was to just get a new valve body, but I thought I would ask you first…

      2757 is a TCC solenoid performance code. Fancy way of saying it does not detect lock up. It uses the TPS, MAF, Input and output speed sensors, as well as the crankshaft sensor to determine if lock up occurs. So it can be a problem with any of those sensors as well as a problem with the SLU solenoid. Could also be a problem with the torque converter. Most of the problems I have seen are either a TC problem or one of the speed sensors. Look at your speed sensors first.
