I definitely believe this, wholeheartedly. There is something so dark, unsettling, bleak and haunting about this record that I have only really found in one other album, The Origin of My Depression, by Uboa. The lyrics of Third are really affecting, and definitely more melancholic compared to all of the other works by Portishead - combined with the generally skeletal sound and song structures makes it really rewarding to listen over and over. The part in Hunter, when she says “I stand at the edge of a broken sky” gives me chills every time. The record is really consistent as well, and I’ve got to say that the two closing tracks are absolute perfection; Threads is what really confirms the album as a classic for me, it sounds like the end of the world, honestly. Glad someone else appreciates the album as well 😊
I adore Portishead. I love all of their work. I could never say one album is better than the other, that said Third is my favorite one too. This album is incredibly special to me.
Massive props for the intro music dude. It's my favourite song from its respective album. And yeah I think Third is my favourite Portishead album too. It really is just so unique, and deliciously bleak and unnerving.
@@Redemtor1 I agree with the second part, but not the first. I think they are all equally deep albums. It really comes to taste with Portishead. All three albums are great, but favorites come down to taste and feeling. Third is my favorite for very personal reasons, but I can't say I listen to Third any less than the other two.
Great video!! All of the 3 portishead albums are amazing and while Dummy is still my favorite i also love Third just as much

given the time since portishead, third had to be different, but like radiohead, you can immediatly tell it's a portishead album
Third is my favourite Portishead album too! Very good review! ❤
probably a top 10 album for me
probably same tbh
Also my favorite PH album...highly underrated and under-appreciated. The only other album I can compare to is is Amnesiac.

Couldn't agree more!
Couldn't agree less!
Both Dummy and the self titled are much more sophisticated. While Third is obviously still a phenomenal record.

@@Redemtor1i love the self titled album, but there's not many songs there that i go back to often
