Today (Saturday, March 16, 2024) I completed the "Guess All 195 Countries on the Map" quiz. I guessed all of them correctly except ten! Thanks! Larry Carroll🌎😀
nice video! but you forgot kosovo, taiwan and porto rico, not to say other countries that might not be recognized as a whole like both virgin islands, cocos islands, christmas islands, anguilla... but nice video none the less
Taiwan is part of China. Only 11 UN countries recognise Taiwan as a sovereign nation, the largest of these being Paraguay and Guatemala and the rest being small island nations. Kosovo is not recognised by roughly half of the 193 UN countries, including Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa (BRICS), so it is a contentious issue. Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the US and as such is neither a sovereign nation nor a US state. As for the islands you mention, none are sovereign nations, anymore than Corsica, Sardinia, Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Curacao, Falklands, South Georgia, or even the world's largest island, Greenland, are sovereign nations. Hope that clarifies why the channel owner elected to exclude them from the quiz and that you find these facts a useful contribution to your own erudition.
@@nomdaploom More than half of UN countries recognize Kosovo (54%), the majority of EU states (82%) and the vast majority of NATO states (88%). Despite not being recognized by every country, in practical terms Kosovo is very much a country with a different flag, emblem, identity documents, license plates, borders, currency, language, national anthem, etc. from Serbia. Also, it is displayed in the vid as a country with its own borders, so why not mention it?
@@diarhajrizi1498 Why do you believe that the majority of EU and NATO states recognise Kosovo? Could it have anything to do with the fact that they created it? And why is recognition by NATO states a qualification for anything? NATO recognises Ukraine, but sadly for them the rest of the world does not. Neither the EU nor NATO will exist ten years from now, and good riddance to both. I wish you good fortune coping in the new world that is fast taking shape.
Not sure, but I think that Taiwan is not recognized by UN to be classified as fully independent country. There are several more self declared countries but they are not recognized on global level. When territory is disputed by another country it's not considered as independent. In real world, if country is recognized by Russia, USA and China, gets it's place under independent countries category.
@@biostarstepa In the real world Taiwan is an independent country, one of the more democratic on earth, and it is threatened by a bullying autocratic neighbor. The status you mention is only a result of cowardice and/or the despots of the autocratic world. Note that Palestine is considered a state here, for the same reasons.
Stumbled on a few of Carribean and Pacific Islands and with Eswatini (which I didn't know had changed its name from Swaziland), but then I've always enjoyed looking at maps. Great quiz in not making it multiple choice answers, but just having country outlines. Congratulations and thank you for a most enjoyable 23 minutes of Interweb entertainment!
@@SorrythishandlehasbeenremovedI always got Rwanda and Burundi confused, until I realized a few days ago that Rwanda is next to Uganda and they have a samiliar name (kinda). So if you know Uganda, you know the country south to that is Rwanda, idk if that helps or if you need it :D
Missed 65 countries, only got 130 :( Been a long time since middle school... forgot where the countries in central America are, and oceanic islands.... I knew the names. Former Russian colonies i mixed up..
I could only guess 155 of them correctly. I didn't know most of the countries in the great ocean and the Caribbean Sea. But it gave learning a purpose.
Guessed 185. Missing: Rwanda, Sierra Leone and Tanzania from Africa; Dominica, Grenada and St Lucia from Central America and the Caribbean; San Marino from Europe; Nauru, Palao and Vanuatu from Oceania.
I got all of the continental countries, but was not right on the island nations, and couldn't see fast enough some of the smallest places on the map. i got about 165 correct, but then I studied history, geography, and have traveled to over 100 countries, which helps a lot!
121/195. I’m okay with eurasia, north and south america. Half-okay with africa. In oceania, middle america and small islands all over I’m completely lost. There was one country a haven’t even heard about😅
That was hard. I can never remember how El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras located and also the countries in Oceania except for Australia of course and New Zealand.
I got almost all of them right just missed Micronesia Marshall Islands nauru Vanuatu Kiribati Fiji Tonga Samoa Tuvalu Dominica st Lucia Grenada Saint Vincent and the grenadines and I knew it was Bosnia and Herzegovina but for some reason I said bolivia
I got 75 wrong playing fairly no pausing, Africa and the islands are always the hardest to remember. But I'm pretty pleased considering I haven't looked at any geography stuff in many many years 😂
Interesting how weaknesses vary - other than the Caribbean and Pacific, of course, which is challenging to many (including me). Was surprised I did so badly with eastern (not western) Africa.
You completely omitted to include the huge landmass next to the rest of North America. This is Greenland, an autonomous region within the Kingdom of Denmark. Unfortunately, these maps distort the actual size of Greenland making it look much, much larger than it actually is. The total area of Greenland is 2.16 million square kilometres (836,330 square miles), including other offshore islands. Almost 80 percent of the land mass is covered by an ice cap. The ice-free area may be a minority, but it's still around the size of Sweden. A country with a population of 10 million people. Greenland is a little more than three times the size of Texas and it’s pretty much the same size as DR Congo in Africa. In Europe, Greenland is the same size as France, Germany, Spain, the UK, Italy, Greece, Switzerland and Belgium put together. The total population of Greenland is 57.000. Main language: West Greenlandic, Other Greenlandic dialects: East Greenlandic and Inughuit. Other foreign languages spoken: Danish, English. The population is a mix of Inuit (Eskimo) and European, mostly Danish. Literacy is 100%. There is a university in Nuuk, the capital city, pop. 20,000 Social services are similar to Denmark. Education and healthcare are funded through general taxation and provided without additional cost for residents.
i missed/fumbled 17. I said Malaysia instead of the Philippines 😂 Oceania is always difficult Few wrong answers in the Carribean and Central America too. Give me longer than 3 seconds and I'm sure I'd get 99%
That's some pressure. I got 33 wrong, but sometimes I failed to see which bit was being marked. If they zoomed in on some of the smaller places, islands in particular, I'd get more. I actually got about 7 easy European countries wrong, probably due to complacency. There were also about 3 that I was mumbling the start of the name and not managing it.
I missed 34, but missed only seven of the first 100. It's the islands that give me the most trouble, then most of the -stans (not Afghanistan or Pakistan though), then eastern Africa.
Fun fact the countries are in order by population
But the first country he said was India and the secnod was China! That's the opposite order.

Did it again and got 5 wrong this time 😅
Don't look at it for a month and see if you retain the correct names... :)
1st time I did it a few minutes ago. I did 50%. I try again tomorrow. I get lost with the “Stan”😅
Bravo to you! 👍👍👏
Did you prepare to be fellow by Ranking of Population?
That's what I noticed, yes.
@@frankmerrill2366 Therefore, if you know the population ranks, you can guess even before the timer starts;-)
yeah
Those island countries I got most 'em wrong😂
It’s always the Caribbean, Pacific, and those random African island ones that get me lol
luckily not for me
I was good on all of them except for Oceania. I know all those countries by name I just can’t point them out on a map yet
Me with European countries: 🧠
Me with African countries: 🤷♂️
the same happens me but with central america and oceania
Me too, because it's always changing. Can't keep up
The same with African countries and some countries of Oceania 😅
im the exact opposite
keep forgetting eastern europe countries
😂
The island countries got me!
