If you have watched the DVD or video of this you’ll have noticed that the BBC removed God Save the Queen and an Orange band tune from their broadcast of it a few years ago.
Who wishes it was like this still nowadays ?? My dad and uncle would happily rev the engine on their sidecars ready for the weekend, and put me out the backings on my italajet 50, amazing times. How people would complain back then absolutely no one!!! These days loads!!!!
Re the query about the removal of the National Anthem and the Orange Tune from the BBC transmission. The BBC slot was only 50 minutes but the film [and the Duke Marketing Video] was 60 minutes. So something had to go.There was no political motive to the edit. David Wallace [Director]
It was fun to go to all the races as a boy, but apart from Ray McCullough all these men died doung this. I got sick witnessing death in about the year 2000 and stopped following this madness.
When you think about it, out of these humble beginnings evolved 60 TT wins. Joey won 26, Robert 5, Michael 29 and still going. Sadly Joey, Robert,William, Frank Kennedy and Mervyn Robinson died doing what they loved.
When BBC Northern Ireland showed it again a few years ago they removed God save the Queen and an Orange tune from it. Talk about censorship. Disgusting.
Life, animals, country, petrol, speed, sound, just heaven....................... Even muck on the road who could ask for more ???Sorry smell of two stroke and that's it we are here/there HEAVEN AT ITS BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! R.I.P.Joey not that you need it cos you are where you need to be I hope plenty plenty bikers plenty plenty races all of which you will win cos you were/are the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These guys were as happy testing bikes around the roads of Armoy as they were winning at the North West or the TT. They raced for the thrill of it. Just ordinary humble men who loved for their sport.

Mervyn Robinson is buried near my grandparents and I always visit his grave, people always said he was a better rider than Joey
