As a huge DD fan, I’m just excited to get another new run on the shelf. The delays on all these amazing books have been killing me, but I’m happy to wait for these epic tomes!
This is such an underrated run, and it will be nice to have this in hand after the multiple delays. While it would have been nice to also have the "Man Without Fear" miniseries included in this Omnibus, perhaps it will act as the prologue within the Zdarsky Omnibus one day. Another great review!
It started out strong, but man, the Inhumans overstayed their welcome and they're a fantasy element that doesn't mix very well with Daredevil. The final arc was quite awful.
@@matiasnieto1048 I understand that Marvel was forcing them into the spotlight due to Disney not wanting to use characters that were licensed to Fox, but the Inhumans are better as guest stars or short stint characters for Earth related stories. I liked them more in the cosmic corner of Marvel. I don't like that they were shoehorned in with so many titles. However, Soule did the best he could, and there were not many low points.
@@DBZALLSTAR you understand perfectly. They were ok during Muse's arc. Soule brought them to DD's street level, but that final arc dragged DD to the Inhumans's corner.
@@matiasnieto1048 yes, and while that was fine for people who wanted the Inhumans integrated into every aspect of the Marvel Universe, it just does not work for people who just want to read a fun Daredevil story. Lol
My favorite character. I know nothing of this run. Very much looking forward to this & the delays have only served to intensify my anticipation. Great video as usual.
@@TheMightyMidget I read the first year in single issues and I enjoyed it. I stopped when I switched over to collected editions and digital. I'm hoping the rest of the run is as good as the start. I am of fan of Soule's Swamp Thing run. You might want to try reading some of the early issues digitally before you buy the book.
Oh man I’ve been waiting for this to see which cover to order! Think I’m going with the Noto after seeing this vid. :) Thanks so much as always, Omar! Great vid!
Wonderful news that it's finally coming. As a lifelong DD fan, this is a must buy for me. I hope Santa has a big bag because their are several omnis that I want in December. 😁
As someone who, while I have gotten better at it, still has issues with beating myself up, that part with Karen at the end telling Matt to stop beating himself up and that he did everything he could really touches my heart
Preordered the DM cover so apart from the white spine really happy with the overall design. Wasn’t overly satisfied with Soule’s final story arc but his run is pretty solid overall. Hope to see an overview on the Jessica Jones reprint soon. Thanks Omar!
Already left a comment but wanted to answer my personal favorite DD run. It’s probably Bendis! There really isn’t a wrong answer though(unless you say Diggle😉 Which isn’t even that bad. Just not on the same level as others). Brubaker’s first arc is probably the best overall to me, but if we’re talking the whole run I think Bendis edges him out personally. I haven’t caught up on Zdarsky’s so don’t even ask about that lol. Would love to get a Nocenti omni to revisit that and Miller’s because of course those are some of the best and most influential as well. :) Again, great vid!
I’ve never read this run but I’ve got my copy arriving today. I’ve got all the Daredevil omnis, except Shadowland, and so I’m excited to continue the story. I’m sure they’ll eventually release Zdarski’s run as well. Daredevil, for those who truly love comics favorite comic.
I've been reading this run digitally since I planned on getting the Omnibus. At first, I didn't like the initial few issues, but after issue 4, I realized that it was pretty solid. I kept going and it turned into one of my favorite runs on the title. Soule has a way of getting the point but also slow burning his stories. The tension buildup with Muse was masterfully done, and the arc afterwards, "The Seventh Day," was a great follow-up. But I especially loved "Supreme" and "Mayor Fisk," both stories that could've worked with the previous status quo but ultimately work just as well now. But man...I can't wait to sit this one on the shelf next to the other DD Omnis I have.
Still makes me kinda sad that Brubaker's reprinted DD run won't be getting one big omnibus like this one did. Not too bright of a choice by Marvel in my opinion. I'm happy about any Daredevil OHC however. Ann Nocenti's work should get this lovely treatment soon. Like right now.
The Adi Granov on the spine should have been on both it was a variant for issue 600 there was a black version which is on the DM they could have used the red version for the standard edition
So happy and relieved that the book is finally seeing the light of day. Thank you, Omar, for the advanced look at Soule's run on DD. It'll be some time before Zdarsky's run gets released in an omni. In the meantime, if you're reading this, David, let's get that Ann Nocenti omni ASAP!
The Waid/Samnee run is the greatest in the history of the book. I’m a huge fan also of the Miller/Mazzucchelli and Brubaker/Lark issues. There is room for both light and dark for the character i think. Looking forward to reading this one, Daredevil is my favorite superhero.
Underrated run! I like a balance with Daredevil. Sometimes Bendis got eye rolling dark where Waid went to light. I appreciate Garney flexing his muscles with the art. Collected this in single issue and enjoyed it. Great video!
Oh man great artwork and spoiler free review of overall story arcs. I've been waiting a long time for this book to show up in Omni format as I have NOT read any of it, so excited to dig in fairly cold. Thanks again!
Awesome I just got into the DD comics after seeing the show and the Chip run is soo good! Gonna go back and look at the previous ones this one especially since it was before the Chip run
I’m not familiar with this run but since the word is that the Netflix show influenced this run, then this is a must have. I’ve been patiently waiting for this one.
gonna pick this one! SO glad they releasing lot of November omnis later this year or next year lol Thanks for great reviews, Omar. Still kinda lot of spoilers, so watched almost whole thing on a low volume🙉
The pagecount of Empyre Omnibus, King in Black Omnibus and Avengers VS X-Men Omnibus makes me more optimist that there will be one Omnibus between Uncanny X-men Omnibus Vol. 4 and Mutant Massacre Omnibus.
Kinda a clever twist on crime with the finger thing in a yakuza type gang. What if they added fingers for doing exceptionally instead of just taking them away for failing.
Thank you for the overview, Omar. The Ron Garney art really looks awesome, I might pick this up...any chance of an overview on Conan Vol 6 and the Soule Vader Omni?
Great vid, as always, Omar! I have many DD runs in OHC or omnibus (Miller, Smith, Bendis, Brubaker, Waid, Zdarsky -- Miller's is the only one in omnibus, actually) and would get Soule's run on this format if it was in two or three volumes. But 1,200 pages is too much for me -- a clumsy and uncomfortable reading experience. Gonna have to keep my TPBs for now.
I love DD, I love omnis. I need to get this but just too many omnis for my bank acct lol, hoping this stays in print long enough for me to get it haha.
I Iike the dark (reddish) tone that this omnibus has (hello Dc 😂) and I am not such a huge fan of Daredevil but I have to admit that this really calls my attention.
Aw man I like the direct market cover more but the standard edition spine more. Hard decisions. Now just need that mark waid DD omnis reprint and maybe 1 more frank miller reprint since brubaker reprint already announced.

Is this run considered great? Been wanting to read his marvel stuff considering Soule kills Star Wars comics! Also is there any word on if the Matt Fraction Hawkeye omnibus will be getting a reprint? I really want to read it so bad
Oh man. My poor wallet. Will the hits ever stop coming? I just pre-ordered Inferno Prologue and Mutant Massacre last night.😭 I most likely will get this and look for all the stuff that came before this. Miller, Smith, Zdarsky, Waid.
How does this run rank overall for Dare Devil? I've only read Born Again and Miller and Janson's omnibus, so my Daredevil knowledge is pretty limited. How lost will I be if I read this run?

Wow this book looks amazing. The slogan on the back should read "back to being good". Anything is better than waids run daredevil.
