Years ago we hiked to the summit of Sheep Mountain and were unimpressed with it's views as you are surrounded on all sides with trees. Nick suggested to me to hike the trail again but to grab Stone Mountain instead as it has much better views and I definitely agree.
I've done this in September the last couple of years and only saw one or two people past the one-mile mark, so it wasn't what I would call busy. I came down the gully on the backside last year because it looked a lot safer, like I think you did. I may even try to go up that way the next time. It can be a little tricky climbing up the rocks on the front side.
I agree! We tried our best to follow the dotted trail line on our GPS going up, which veers off to the right side as you approach the final climb, it was deeper with snow, but we still made it. The other tracks we saw went up towards the left way instead or the backside as you said, which was the way we came down.
Good video. I think I saw a video by Nick Sangetta climbed both Sheep and Stone mountains in the summer.

😂 You know it! Lol. It's getting warmer earlier than usual here so he must be out of winter hibernation by now.
