- The USAID-funded Joint Emergency Operation Program (JEOP) is one of three operations providing emergency food relief to impoverished Ethiopians who do not have sufficient food to feed themselves and their families. The Dire Dawa warehouse is one of four major hubs where U.S. imported food commodities are received from the Djibouti port before being dispatched to over 400 final distribution points across Ethiopia. The Dire Dawa warehouse has a capacity to store up to 13,000 metric tons of food commodities such as wheat, yellow split peas, and vegetable oil, which are currently being distributed to approximately 400,000 relief beneficiaries in 13 districts through the JEOP lead agency, Catholic Relief Services, and its partners, including CARE and the Hararghe Catholic Secretariat.
Thank you USAID.
