Man. I’m a freshman this year and my teacher wants me to try out for all state and seeing all of this makes me super nervous. I’ve never even done region before so I have no idea how it works. My teacher thinks I’m ready for it and I’m one out of 4 people trying out, 2 are juniors and one is a senior and then there is me. I know the year has barely started but seeing all of this makes me nervous
Just do what I am doing and try out even though you might not make it. There's no harm in trying out and you will learn what you need to practice for next year. I am the only one trying out at my school, but that doesn't stop it
Halie Douglas I’m actually pretty stupid. She wanted me to try out next year but I still did region this year. I’m in Region 12 and I tried out for their symphony group (the high group) and I made 5th chair in 2nd violins
This video is really cool! I am part of the P(ennsylvania)MEA and have been putting together videos for each festival. It's cool to see that others across the country are having similar awesome experiences!
I never had this experience because I never made All State back in 2008 (probably didnt have enough skill against my competition). But 2 weeks from now on 9/11, I will have my first professional live audition.

in my experience, i "lost" to others who had more expensive clarinets than mine. it's not just skill
