  • A poor workman may blame his tools, but there's no denying that the right tools can make you better and faster at your work.
Programs like Microsoft Word and Google Docs are nice, but they really weren't designed for writing books. As your book document becomes longer and longer, you may run into problems.
Scrivener, however, was developed specifically for book writers. Its functionality just makes sense for a long-form work like a novel. Check it out out now while your manuscript is still small and easy to move to a new program.
*This is not a paid endorsement. We just really like the program.
ASSIGNMENT: Better software will make you more efficient. Your assignment today is:
    Check out Scrivener at LiteratureandLatte.com
    Write for one hour.
If you’re still working up to writing for one hour, that’s OK. Write for the time period you’ve assigned for yourself, and then use the remainder of your hour to continue to build out your Novel Matrix plan. If time remains, read something that you love.
FOR FURTHER STUDY: Find more strategies for doing the work with The Novel Matrix book at NovelMatrix.com, or the Novel Matrix classes at Writers.Company.
Dabble is a newer alternative to Scrivener. It seems to have much of the same core functionality, only more streamlined and cloud-based. It does carry a monthly subscription cost, which makes it much more expensive than Scrivener long-term.
