Happy 4th of July to our American friends, and happy grilling season to all! Let us know what you'll be cooking up outside this summer (or inside on an out-of-control induction burner 😅)
We had a huge family reunion yesterday in Central Texas. Smoked brisket and ribs, grilled corn on the cob, lemon mint coleslaw, caprese salad, and grilled/marinated eggplant. It was amazing!
When I lived in Sicily, I had a (wurst) hot dog panini with fries, provolone cheese and ketchup. Was never a fan of ketchup with hotdogs, but those were really tasty.
That's really pretty impressive that Eva knew to add the sugar to the dough for the buns. I don't think most Americans even notice how sweet hot dog and burger buns are.
They are pretty sweet. It is true that most of our breads have sugar but I don’t know what is going on. Things seem to be getting sweeter and sweeter. It’s been out of hand but continues to get worse. I picked up some dinner rolls a few weeks ago and my kitchen smelled like I was baking cookies when I warmed them in the oven.
I keep wondering if bakers think we are all seriously depressed 😂 That used to a be a trick people used to put a little pep in your step before mass production. Add a spoon full of sugar to grits or bread. Now it’s a cup.
@@janetseidlitz5976 True. Even if you want to put the dough in the fridge for a day or two this can help with the rise when you take it out of the fridge. I used to do this thing where I'd sift over a couple of teaspoons of powdered sugar and do a light knead before the last rise and shaping. I got really good results. Not as nice as what Eva gets, but still really nice. I've been mostly making sourdough for so long now that I'm not sure I could even remember exactly how I did it, but it was something like that.
I'm sorry to ask, but I'm genuinely curious as a non native speaker 😂😂 Is the idea behind "richer than Elon musk times two": A. 7:25 - At first I was like, "Wow, Eva even knows Pinocchio! She understands so much American culture!" Except Pinocchio is an Italian story. Disney made it famous here, but it _is_ an import. And don't feel bad about the hot dog bun breaking. Even the ones from the store do that sometimes. It is super annoying when it happens though.
Fun to watch!!! I was excited to see your reaction to the pistachio one... such a bummer, but maybe a piece of dark chocolate in addition could help! Lol
We have tavern that has been in business around 80 years, serves a "Barnyard Burger" (yum) beef patty, ham, bacon, egg and cheddar cheese! Eva is such a wonderfully talented chef...extremely delightful!
The look on Eva’s face when she took a bite out of the carbonara hamburger was one of the most delightful reactions I have ever seen on screen. Thank you . And happy Fourth of July.!🇺🇸🇮🇹🎆🎇🎆🎇
After being a long time fan and watching many episodes, I have learned two truths: I add garlic to all your recipes because apparently New Jersey Italians and Italian Italians use different ratios of that, and Italians use more salt than I thought lol 10 out of 10 love it, keep it up guys
In Brazil, a very traditional kind of hotdog is made boiling sliced hotdogs in tomate souce, and we also put "straw potato" witch a very crunchy and small fried potato, like straw.
That all looks delicious. But I never put ketchup on my hotdog unless I don't have chili. I put the mustard in the bun, then the meat, then dress it with chili, slaw and/or onions. Those homemade buns look so delicious. I also cook my hotdogs in the oven when I don't feel like messing with the grill. Works great.
What a fun twist for this 'CalabriaTION' of American meets Calabria in the kitchen! I discovered pistachio crema recently and just love it! I definitely need to try the burger with guanciale and eggs - I can taste it already!!! Cheers, Salud from Los Angeles xoxo
Happy 4th!!!! Next time put hot dog on the skewer and cook over the fire 🔥!!! Yummm you can do it with burgers too with the right equipment we use for camping!!!❤❤❤❤
I recommend using the instant yeast for bread machines. Even if you are making the dough by hand. Bread machine yeast has conditioners that help make a very soft bun. I make hamburger buns with it, and they are always so good.
As it rains in Maine on the 4th of July, it was such a treat to watch the two of you " cookout" in honor of Independance Day. Definitely will try that burger! Know your day is sunny 🌻
Grilled American Italian fusion, love it , Eva's bread was amazing and made the store bought bread look pathetic, the locals should try this fusion idea , new york

The carbonara burger looks good 👌🤤 our local snackbar actually has a burger just like it, only with a local bacon as well. (Friesian smoked bacon 👌) They also have a version with all the same toppings and fried onion rings, called lord of the rings burger and funnily enough they do use American cheese 😅 probably because it melts really well. I have to admit, sometimes I put it on my tosti (grilled cheese and ham sandwich) as well. 😋 I totally get the 'struggles' with finding something similar to graham crackers, when I want to try an American recipe that calls for them. They aren't available in stores here either. Apparently Europeans don't have a need for them. We'd rather have them with the chocolate on them allready. We call those prince cookies here 😁
Eva and Harper I think you’re fusion experiments in the kitchen are my favourites of all your videos. Aside from the S’Mores (and the ‘hot dog’ sausages) the most UnAmerican thing about them is that everything is prepared from scratch.

@@pjequinelady same for me. Former homeowners tried to hide old damage and the the new. Not just under the sink but all the cabinets to the left. Then the oven quit and the fridge/freezer died. 40,000 not including appliances. Major ouch. If I didn’t have to replace my Tesla battery at the same time, I would have no worries.
As far as cooking a hotdog in a pan, I can help you out. My wife and I live in an apartment, and aren't allowed to grill. Instead, I cook hotdogs in a cast-iron skillet. Use a little bit of oil, either grapeseed or olive, or some butter. We use beef hotdogs, so the butter seems to work best. I typically cook them until I get a little bit of a crust going. Make sure to turn them periodically, and I can fit five or six in a ten inch skillet, though that depends on whether I'm using bun length dogs. Once you've got a good sear on all sides, it's good to go.
I’m yelling at Harper all the way through this episode. Do you KNOW how amazing the beef and pork mixed would be? But you wanted bacon? Eva knows what she’s about. I’m glad it was so good, though! Our daughter’s Guatemalan mother in law and son in law will be here and making birria tacos. Our son is making the elote. So it won’t be an American Independence Day, but a delicious melting pot. And that’s fine with me. God bless America and all within its borders!
Eva you are a master at cooking! I look forward to watching every video over and over again to get ideas and instructions. Thank God for her being trapped in the US for covid because we all now get to have her magic!
Wow! I think I'll try the burger this weekend. My daughter's a baker and will have left over hamburger buns! The pistachio cream looks interesting. I love pistachios. I think I would like it on toasted bread! Super job you two!
You can easily make ketchup at home and it will probably taste better than the store. Ketchup is basically just tomato paste, vinegar and sugar. You can add also celery salt, onion powder, garlic powder, mustard powder and cloves for seasoning but it’s not necessary. I agree with Eva, my experience is that store bought American food in European countries is most often not worth buying.

Everyone I know here in California and family in Texas make grilled burgers with a patty made with a blend of high quality ground beef AND ground pork . Delicious burger flavor
I like to put my chocolate piece on the graham and put that next to the fire while I roast the mallow. that way it's all melty and then the mallow goes on and it's perfection every time. With the special square mallows they have for s'mores I like to put a piece of chocolate inside while roasting, and that works out really well.
Hi guys. Great episode! You could have cut the dog bun New England style down the middle on top. As for the ingredients of the dog I loved what you did. I used to own a food truck. Your griddle wasn't hot enough for a true smash burger. You need it 450 to 500* f to get that perfect sear. I loved the s'mores. I have been making my own bastardized versions of them for years. Everyone I know here in California and family in Texas make grilled burgers with a patty made with a blend of high quality ground beef AND ground pork . Delicious burger flavor
The hotdog looks ok and so does the burger. But the dessert is not my thing Marshmallows are a no go for me
Cheers from a Swiss in New Zealand 😊
That burger looked fantastic.
Your version was over the effing top though. Love love love you guys.
Homemade marshmallows are absolutely amazing! If you are willing to wait overnight, they are not to hard to homemake!
Who played your background music? Loved that dobro.
Happy 4th of July ! I’m surprised that Eva didn’t make her own marshmallows. Everything looks amazing as always !
