- New Zealand police tell the former nanny there isn’t enough evidence to actively pursue her sexual assault complaint against Neil Gaiman. He says he offered himself up for an interview with the police. But the facts may indicate otherwise.

Absolutely no way that - educated and articulate as he is - that Gaiman is hazy on sexual assault, abuse and rape or the notion of consent. I have autism and come from a family full of people with autism. It is slime personified to try to blame his deliberate actions on a condition so many of us already endure ignorance over.
BRAVO!
100000% the fact that she even tried to use that as a defense for him is beyond deplorable.
Who is she, stephanie6346?
My husband encouraged me to read the sandman comics and I did. But when I finished I told him that Gaiman has no respect for women and I didn't like certain aspects of the book that I wouldn't spend any time alone with a mind like that.
We've removed his books from the shelf.
That is so interesting, what do you mean? I haven’t read Sandman
I find this very interesting. I have read sandman comics, what particular parts made you aware of this disrespect? I really can't think of much, let alone something so prominent it would cause a strong dislike to a piece of art. Where were the clues??? this is an actual question, not irony, just to be clear, I would love to know. I generally have found all his characters, regardless of gender, quite well written and would love to know the clues that were missed.

She means nothing, otherwise she would have cited particular instances.
If he actually was an OT8 in Scientology, that is a testament to his ability to exploit vulnerable individuals. Should the allegations be found credible and result in a conviction, I hope it will reignite investigations and the ridiculous rulings that allow Scientology to call itself a "religion".
Exactly... he was raised in, and rose through the ranks in scientology? Say no more. A predator is a predator is a predator.
I wonder if it was his scientology background that turned him into a MONSTER.
I don't get why women lean into this shit. You keep sending messages saying you're a bad girl and you want him and other bs. Then act surprised when the police don't act. After you continue contacting the subject and constantly repeat it was consensual. What do you expect?
I think it is really good she is talking about this though. A story we can all learn something from and may prevent future victims.
I was enjoying this very professional journalistic account :
however the ( to my mind, inapt ) use of the word 'kill' ( albeit metaphorical )
can be subtly misleading : I mean, I had to rewind !
I thought for a brief moment he was actually guilty of murder too !
Please keep it factual : you are doing a great job otherwise
Freedom of Speech!...except for Tortoise...
So bad when Women arent supported enough by the Police ...why arent the pursuing it ?
the p0lice are lazy, underpaid, ignorant, and sex1st. I'm going easy on them with this statement :C
There's no point in the police pursuing it at this point. There's no way that the case _as it stands_ would be in any way effective in court.
They never have n legal system mostly stacked
Unfortunately the police typically pass on cases to the OPP or Office of Public Prosecutions only when they personally think there's enough evidence to convince a jury the accused is guilty of the offence beyond a reasonable doubt with a reasonable chance of conviction. Critically, in so many instances the officers involved in each case are able to use what's seen as their own "discretion" to decide which cases to even talk to the OPP about based on how they regard the individual reporting a crime and it's very likely that they didn't regard Pavlovich as the 'perfect victim' who would be believed by a jury - likely because they personally had doubts about her integrity. The New Zealand police in particular have a very poor record when it comes to passing on reports of SA to the OPP and the OPP is no better.
I thought the policeman sounded very understanding and helpful. He’s sharing his professional opinion based on his experience.
