Initiative roll is not a check roll. It's a 2d6-roll and you add the results. Highest result begins. On a tie character are before NPCs. Great review.
Right you are, good catch!
@@deck_of_DM_Things But your way is better, so people should just use that.
No, he is right based on the Version 4 of the rules. I just bought it and it is like he says. My guess is it changed, because a lot of older videos do the addition method you reference.
I prefer the test method, no numbers to keep track of just a pass/fail test go before or after, it keeps things simple
The initiative was changed (and retroactively changed in all other Tiny D6 games) when GKG did their first rules expansion for Tiny Supers (Can't think of the name of it, I mean, I only backed it on Kickstarter and too lazy to find my copy of it). But yeah, the new rule is role 2d6. If you roll a 5 or 6, you go before the "baddies," otherwise you go after everyone else
I found this from checking out some vids on games for kids. I've tried No Thank You Evil and Hero Kids, but this game looks like it will be what I've been looking for. Straightforward rules that can still be used strategically without forcing the game to be silly while also being flexible enough to follow a child imagination. Thank you for making this video!
Finally some tiny dungeon acknowledgement lol. I have been looking forward to playing this eventually
Great video. I just ordered TD earlier today and I can’t wait to introduce my kids to TTRPG.
I love how not-crunchy it is. TinyD6 and Mausritter are easily my new favorite systems
I play Tiny Dungeon, you may have covered all of the rules in this short video!
Thanks!
Hats off to you too, sir. Very helpful explanations, and quite entertaining too
I want to collect my Little Winky Face (L.W.F.??). This was good! Did you already do the Land of Eem? Or Little Wizards? Ars Magica! I think you did a bunch of these. Your style is light and fun and excellent to watch / keep it up / brush your teeth / stay out of dark alleyways / see you next time.

I'm so tar behind the curve! I just found tiny Cthulhu and I'm really impressed by the d6 system!
Great summary, thank you!
Sounds good!
Nice. I will definitely check TD out.
My son and I have been playing Hero Kids for a while now and I noticed he wants a little more creative control. I'm looking into Mousritter or Tiny Dungeon as the next game system to play. My only worry is finding good campaigns. Hero Kids has a lot of campaigns available.
Try Ting Dungeon Advanced it has a more DnD feel
Appreciate your synopsis of the actual system. Do more. Running my 4th TinyD6 game (not Dungeons) this weekend, but so far a variety of players (many who play complex systems too) enjoy the fact the narrative is the focus and characters only take about 15-30 minutes to create - mostly because there’s a long list of traits to consider and I encourage then to find at least one connection with another PC.
You're such a charming person!😊
I love tiny dungeon... except for the magic system 😢
Great video! Any chance you would review Tiny Wasteland?
Yeah Tiny Dungeon is one of my favourites!
I love any game that let's me play as a goblin right out of the box.
Nice review - just going to say that "A little winky face" means something completely different in UK English! 😱
Id raher they had use the tern "Lineage" since heritage connotes more of a cultural inheritance
I am hearing this
Nerds get good grades. I, sir, am a geek.
I love the system for tiny d6 but the healer trait gives me a headache as a DM. There's no limiter on it, so assuming the heroes have a small amount of time they can just heal up to full between every encounter. That makes me feel like Amy combat encounter needs to be extra intense to compensate. If you've run the game, how did you handle healing? Did you limit it at all?
Also the prestige traits are busted and I wish they were better balanced and/or didn't invalidate regular traits.
According to this video I am a nerd.
so test is success if you SEE 5 or 6, not by adding both dice equal to 5 or 6 ?
Yep. If at least one of the dice has 5 or 6 pips facing up, that's a success in this system. Two threes is no good.
Guess I'm a nerd then 😂😂
Tiny Dungeon is really interesting however it does need a lot of homebrewing in my opinion. For instance there's very few prestige classes to choose from if you like that sort of thing, many archetypes aren't included at all.
There's also not a *ton* of traits to choose from
That being said I love the expediency of it
Why not race? Because "race" is a word we use to describe the almost completely irrelevant differences between people based upon what part of the world their ancestors grew up in. It's therefore stupid as a descriptor for creatures who are effectively different species within the traditions of fantasy, and that was kinda dumb even back in 1974, so we're getting rid of that like we did thac0, because the only thacos I want to see from now on pair well with margaritas… 🌮🌮🌮
😁
Yes, because ancestry and heritage are cocepts uses everyday.
I really like this game's mechanics and layout. But that's a very high-minded statement about "heritage" they make there, and while I understand the need people feel to dance around being called "racist" in this era, none of what they said is what they do. Mainly because it isn't really actionable. It reads like a disclaimer they released to avoid lawsuits. You can make things respectful and diverse and multi-cultural and all that, and it doesn't matter what you call it. And "ancestries" or "heritages" to me don't seem notably different than "races" because of it. A dwarf is a dwarf and an elf is an elf, and the word for that is irrelevant. No one that I've seen who has stopped using the term is doing so meaningfully. Other than changing a few modifiers and maybe a pre-set attitude here or there, and the unnecessary and empty lecture on why this game is so great for not using *that* word, what's the difference? You're not being racist to imaginary beings? Good for you. Could have done that without the name change or the self-important pandering. That's not the problem we're having in real life tho, so I find it doesn't translate. Noble sentiments, misguided responses. IMO!
this doesnt flow nicely to my brain
Oh, the intellectual dishonesty of calling race heritage when they literally mean the same thing. It's a recognition of biological and cultural differences between groups. If you wanted to be intellectually, honest about not having race, just make everyone the same race. But no one would play that because it would be boring and totally suck.
