I hate that this movie was shot down almost immediately out of ignorance. "OMG, they made a black girl fall in love with a Nazi?" The whole point of the movie is about how sometimes good people get caught up in things beyond their control. Lutz was not an evil Nazi; he was a young man who was forced to serve his country. Also, two people who shouldn't have anything in common can fall in love. When Leyna and Lutz were alone, neither of them carried any of the baggage that society tried to place on them. They were just a boy and a girl in love. Beautiful movie. It's a shame it only got negative attention.
Critical thinking is a skill many people lack unfortunately. Thinking is an arduous task for them so they opt for the easy route and form their opinions without applying thought.
The internet’s full of morons who probably think a purple alien snapping half the universe out of existence is more realistic than a Nazi falling in love with a black person.
I love happy endings. However, this is one of those times when a happy ending would have felt false and would have cheapened the movie. It was the only way the movie could have ended realistically. :(
Saeedat A I guess that would have depended on his rank, wether or not he committed war crimes, on which of the allies captured him and on the situation (in battle or upon discovery in the concentration camp, there is a good chance of him getting shot, while having an actual hearing in a court of law would have increased his chances of survival significantly). People weren’t killed for being Nazis.

Please rewrite this film ending and let it be a dream. Let the dad dream he did it, but in reality he let's his son reach her, pretend he locks them up then out of love for his son helps them leave to live in America. I'm tired of interracial movies having a tragic ending. Let's let love win. It does you know.

In the show Das Boot, the second season, Cassandra Lloyd (black jazz singer) and Klaus Hoffman (German U boat captain) fall in love. If you do vid them, I’ll definitely watch and comment.
