what i appreciate about shortcat’s commentary is that he makes a mistake he identifies what he could have done differently to improve. “i could have noticed that” or “i should have done X” rather than raging

@@Catman_CM Honestly this kinda thing where you briefly go "what the hell was that" into "I could've done things to prevent this" is just something everyone who plays a game competetively (and isn't super toxic) does. I do competetive splatoon and I can't tell you how often I rage at like, a stray bomb or bad teammates in solo just to step back and go "wait no i still could've done better"
@@ajmoment8091 honestly raging is so mid, its much more fun to find a way to play games where you wont get angry, if you rage when playing games then you genuinely need to work on anger management because games are supposed to be fun and not ruin your mood. be like shortcat where he finds a way to laugh it off or learn from mistakes and sometimes even complimenting the person who screwed him over, instead of just believing he deserves to be doing better.

The last race was really good, lots of intelligent plays like 28:22 and 28:48. It looked like you were in the zone! Hope competitive play doesn't wear you down, you totally can play at that level like you said at the end
I mainly need to get used to playing with better players, so I don't make so many weird mistakes. Then I can improve from there!

Shortcat is way better than he seems, i can see when he’s nervous he plays kinda iffy, but when he’s in his element and he’s just comfortable in his abilities he can win, this was a great video overall good job shortcat💯

As much as I like how Shortcat reflects on how he could do better instead of raging, I do think he was a bit hard on himself. Nintendo was not treating him well I mean who their star stolen by a Boo in 10th and who gets a lone mushroom in 11th? You are amazing at this game Shortcat, such a display of skill and strategy in the final two rounds! I’m always excited to see a new video come out, keep up the good work and don’t be too hard on yourself!

Honestly this has helped me immensely and made a lot of the nervousness that comes with competitive games go away

Here is how it is calculated:
For every pair of players:
C/(1 + 11^((Wmmr - Lmmr + b) / p)))
is added to the winners mmr and substracted from the losers mmr where C,b and p are :
FFA:C=60, p=9500, b=2746.116(baseline 20)
2v2:C=120, p=5500, b=1589.856(baseline 40)
3v3:C=180, p=5100, b=1474.230(baseline 60)
4v4:C=240, p=4800, b=1387.511(baseline 80)
6v6:C=300, p=4650, b=1344.151(baseline 100)
For ties:
C/(1 + 11^((b - |P1mmr - P2mmr|) / p)) - C/3
is added to the lower mmr and substracted from the higher mmr
Hey shortcat, I think you've improved a lot in the last year, I would def say you're a 5k player and on track to be 6k. I have 11K MMR and the 7-10k gap really separates the casuals from the tryhards. I wish you luck my friend

Every time I watch a shortcat video I feel like I learn something new to help me improve. Definitely almost everything I know I learned from this channel and it’s helped me get good enough to win at competitive (although at a much lower level lol)
Shortcat is so good controlling his emotions, i’ve raged for far fewer mistakes, i look up to you shortcat 💪

Those were some intense races! Those competitive players mean business! 😅I have to hand it to Shortcat for holding on through these races and leveling up in the process! Luck definitely plays a part in Mario Kart, but skill and track knowledge are always important!

Hey Shortcat ! I'm newly subscribed to your channel and I love your videos ! Love your upbeat attitude and humour.
My boyfriend and I got the booster course pass a month ago and started playing MK8DX more often, we eventually looked up for videos to get advices, know about best vehicles and stuff and came across your videos. We immediately loved your channel and thanks to you we got better at the game, we now understand the mechanics better, learned lots of shortcuts (or shortcats I must say) and loved the game even more.
We watch your videos regulary, even old ones to catch up. I particularly enjoyed your top 10 video and I was amazed at the amount of work you put into this video and obviously the process of getting top 10. I love that you also took this opportunity to talk about achievements as an adult with the knowledge, consistency and time sections. I'm only a young adult but this was a great life lesson.

Shortcat you already better than I ever dream of in mario kart. I play other comp games at higher levels, so I feel like I can recognize patterns well. Some things I've notice as a complete outsider when it comes to comp mario kart are:
-you don't seem to back items as much as others
-other players seem to actively try to bump you when you tend to avoid all contact no matter what
In comp, the lines seem much tighter and are more like IRL where everyone in right behind the other. So when they back items they are much more likely to hit someone. when bumping, they are more likely get someone to take a line they are not comfortable with or don't know. I mean I could be completely wrong here and crazy, so someone feel free to correct me here. Ex: 24:04 if he backed here there's a slight chance to hit a couple people to slow them before glider. Not saying this would've won him the race or anything
Thank you for the feedback! When I'm nervous, I often focus too hard on my own driving and comeback, without thinking about how to optimally use all my items. I definitely should have used some of the fire flower! I feel like my level of aggressive play is much better in worldwides when I'm comfortable, and I need to do more in competitive.
As for bumps, a lot of it is just a matter of how I am lagging on other people's screens. I could definitely take lines that lag bump other players. But it's usually better to avoid bumping them on my screen. A bump causes a temporary loss in traction, which is horrible on turns.
