- Here is one of the most iconic pop soprano saxophone solo's ever, Brandford Marsalis on Englishman in New York!
Here you can get the sheet music: www.musicnotes.com/l/HG6m4
This is a beautiful art-piece by Branford Marsalis, who plays throughout the complete tune (today this concept would be never been asked by 99% of the pop producers) some perfect and inspiring lines. So instead of transcribing only the solo, I transcribed the complete tune.

Thank you for doing this. I'm not even a sax player and just seeing the notes written down is making me incredibly happy.

Thanks.
HOW did just now find this after all these years??? Someone answer me!! Cracking open the case...
Brilliant and sheer genius! Thank you for your inspired hardwork
Thanks! Glad we could be of a help :)
Jazz/beebop is not my forte but speed is fine...what would I need to prepare as study material before attempting this work say on a 2 and half octave melodica/pianica. Thank you for your prompt reply it shows you care
@@roquelazarus Hi, sorry for the late answer, somehow we didn't get a notification of that... Hmm, I think it doesn't really matter what you should prepare, just some overall jazz phrasing mostly. The lines itself are rather diatonic, besides his little swing solo in the middle.
Great! Perfect arrangement. I hear how important the soprano saxophone is - at the end "the end crowns the work" if I'm not mistaken, it's a quote from Shakespeare.
Dr. Genius
Nice job!
Every day since a week ago when I discovered this artists, I've been listening to his magical take on 'the peacocks'. Have you done a video yet explaining how those out of (standard) tune notes work? Not that I'll ever be able to play them on my guitar ;-)

Este súper dotado en el mundo para alargar a cualquier persona:.
Hm, I always thought there is a high d# after the long g# in the beginning, are you sure he just repeats the same note?
Also bar 40, 4th beat should be d#,e,d#,b in sixteenth notes, I think.
Do you have this in concert pitch? Or bass clef?!
Hi Jonathan, we have this in concert pitch and it could be adapted to bass clef of course, but this is a feature we keep for our patrons on Patreon. Hope you understand, cheers, Jorre
Spent 10 years trying to learn this solo, got another 10 to go😔.lol

El compás 15 tiene error rítmico en la escritura.
The lick @4:11
Haha Ed, didn't notice it. Almost the lick, only a different ending note. Thanks for pointing out!
lol
Notation is up a whole step from the recording
have you heard of transposing instruments such as the saxophone?

Wane mans 😅
F#m?? is not Em?
Hi Guilherme, where exactly do you mean? Not sure if this clarify's, but it's a Bb-transposed sheet, for soprano saxophone. It got proofread and officially published on Music Notes, so I think it should be correct, but of course, could have missed something.
@@SharpElevenMusic the key of that song is Bm. That why i asked
@@guilhordas Yes correct, for non-transposing instruments.
