Years ago, ZUN's site had a page called "東方幻想的音楽", where MIDI files made for the Roland SC-88Pro could be downloaded for free. Between 1999 and 2001, ZUN posted arrange versions of many PC-98 Touhou Project tracks and arranged the entire Seihou Shuusou Gyoku OST. He also posted the Torte Le Magic OST and 6 tracks known as "ZUN's Strange Works". They only sound as intended on this module.
The PC-98 arrangements include select tracks from 東方靈異伝 ～ The Highly Responsive to Prayers (Touhou 1), 東方封魔録 ～ the Story of Eastern Wonderland (Touhou 2), 東方夢時空 ～ Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream (Touhou 3), 東方幻想郷 ～ Lotus Land Story (Touhou 4) and 東方怪綺談 ～ Mystic Square (Touhou 5). Please don't call these "remix" or "remastered". These words don't mean what you think they do!

This is "Tabular Rasa ~ Empty Girl" from Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream. For the first time in a long time, I made a song that is really bright. It has a feeling of flood and miscellaneous sounds (bright, indeed), I earnestly composed by inserting notes happily (laughs)
This time, I tried to emphasize the girlhood, or is it? I just pretend that melody feels like a western fantasy with intensive piano and strings, yet it's Japanese~
This song is one before making Touhou Project, when I was still pure (laugh), brought an exercise of MIDI, remade it in FM, then arranged it back to MIDI again. So it is quite a historic song (^ ^; When I listen to the melody, a great nostalgia comes to me swelling up (It was great back then~ (laugh)

東方Priject第３弾 東方夢時空より【 Tabula rasa ～ 空白少女 】です。 本当に久しぶりに、明るめな曲を作りました。（明るいよね） 雑多な音の洪水な感じですが、本人は楽しく音符を置きまくりました（笑）
今回は、少女らしさを強調してみました、のか？ ストリングやピアノを多用して西洋ファンタジー風にしてるように見せかけてるけど メロディがどうしても、和風だよな～。
この曲は、東方Project を作り始めるよりも前、まだ純粋だった頃に(笑）Midi の練習 として適当に作ったものを、FM に作りなおして、またMIDIにアレンジしたものです。 ですので、かなり歴史のある曲です(^^;; メロディを聴くとなつかしさがこみ上げてきます。（昔はよかったな～(笑))
ではまた次の曲で逢いましょうか ＺＵＮ

明るさ、暗さ、懐かしさが相まっていて僕にとってかなりお気に入りになっている曲です。好きい。

自分の中で幻想的音楽＞幺樂団が成り立つ曲のうち1つ
それと何故かこの曲、初めて聞いた以来神社っぽいイメージがあるんですよね、何故か。
幺樂団（原曲）は高すぎるのでは……？が最初の印象でした

言われてみれば確かに「千里の道」って感じがしなくもない
この曲に冬の朝の西洋風の建物の中ってイメージを持っている

It's just there for some seconds.
ZUN does have some standard riffs and motifs he returns to (especially the incredibly well-known "Theme of Eastern Story"), so I wouldn't be surprised at all if there is a similarity in the not progressions :)
Mmm...It's similar in style, but it's definitively not the same melody I think.
