Say what you want but Wayne got nobody to blame but himself. He is the biggest name in rap music for the past 10+ years. Why the fuck do he still have any association with Birdman??? Wayne and young money should be totally independent. The only dealing he should have with cash money is "Hey how you doing" in passing.
Actually no. He has association with Birdman because he still loves and respects Birdman. Birdman is _literally_ who helped Wayne become who he is today. If it wasn't for Birdman, there probably wouldn't be a Lil' Wayne whom is a multiplatinum artist. That being said, he could've signed with Jay-Z, and he was on the verge of doing so, but UMG offered Wayne a very NICE contract, so he stayed with Cash Money instead. One thing you have to remember is that Wayne was pretty damn young when he originally signed with CMR and when he re-signed with them. In addition, he held out out in good faith with Birdman on the basis that Wayne believed that Birdman would take care of him; unfortunately, we all suspect that Birdman simply just isn't good at paying artists, even his most prized possessions. Remember, Wayne looks at Birdman as a father figure, so he put up with a lot more than the other artists did. Wayne finally got tired of the abuse after all these years. That would probably explain why Drake was savvy enough to sign OVO to Warner for distribution instead of through UMG/Cash Money. *~Veracity In Defiance~*
