My favorite thing about Seth Meyers as a talk show host is that he consistently focuses his line of questioning on parenting and kids with every man/dad on his show.

He said to a guest last week that he felt he wasn't good at SNL anyway, and that he was happy when Lorne asked him to do the news, because that was better suited to his talents. So if he went back on as host, he would have to do sketch comedy again, and he didn't think he was good at it
I wish someone had told me about the “fear stage” kids go through, bc I was unprepared. It makes sense bc if children stayed as fearless as they are as toddlers parents would drop dead from exhaustion. But one day your kid is trying to jump off the back of a couch with a baggie as a parachute, and the next they’re afraid of things they used to love. Or if they’re my kid they become afraid to go through the 2nd bathroom door bc they’re convinced they’ll end up in an alternate reality where I don’t exist. Or an obsessive fear of fire so you have to check the burners multiple times in the middle of the night. Or they never grow out of the fear stage like my kid. I’m exhausted.
Good for him. As much as I love most cast members the show seems to phone it in when a friend hosts. Some of the best hosts are when the host shouldn't be good so everybody trys harder
The sheer craziness of the SNL schedule would absolutely keep me from hosting or being in the cast for any length of time. There's a reason why so many of the cast members have had issues with drugs and addiction. I don't blame him for stepping away from it.
