    This series is truly amazing. It moved me to tears especially the last few episodes. Who knew a show about morbid death could be so truly uplifting and inspiring.

    I love this show so deeply. The ending is something I’ll probably think about forever. I think we see the ugliest parts of all of these characters, which makes us love them more deeply as if they are real people. The good and the bad. These characters seem like people you know personally. Which makes the ending so hard hitting and both humbling and depressing. We never know what is really laid out for the rest of our lives. Some happy. Some devastating. But all fleeting and coming to an end. Great review. Brenda is my least favorite haha Ruth is my favorite.

      Thank you for sharing! This is one of the earliest episodes that I created, so thank you also for the kind (and very generous) words. But, yes, this show was a show that forever changed me. As corny as that might sound, but I think you understand. It came into my life at exactly the right moment. The first episode I watched was The Foot and it was the episode that week at that time. I was 18, just turning 19. I was hooked every week through season one. Then, I went away to college and was without cable. But, it came right back into my life at the exact right time. And I was indescribably moved by the ending. As I am each time I watch it. Lol but yes, Brenda was my favorite character but I definitely know that she is usually not anybody' else's favorite LOL. Next for me, too, is Ruth and then Claire.

      Yes Ruth is gf's favorite also cuz their personalities are so similar.
      Lol.
      Nate was my favorite tho!
      Minus those extra marital relationships, i too am struggling to find deeper meaning to my life.

    This show was great. The arc of the series, plus each episode alone. I agree, the finale was the best finale I've seen. I was in my 40s when I first watched it on DVD, and I had already lost several much-loved family members by then, so it really hit home. My favorite character is Claire. She makes the most complete arc of existence, making mistakes, trying new things, seeking to use her talents, figuring things out. She is my favorite, with Frederico second. I love Frederico! The show made me think about death, a subject many of us seek to avoid.

      Thank you for the comment, and thank you for sharing. Claire is amazing. There were times that Rico was hit or miss with me, but Claire definitely went on the most complete arc. I am the same age as Claire, so I was always able to relate to where I was at in life during the time.

    It's one of my all time favs as well. Very complex so it too me a minute into it but once I did I was hooked. You really have to start from the beginning to understand it all. Very well done show from both the writers and actors.

    One of the best finales of all time. When Ted showed up at Ruth’s funeral to support Claire I lost it. When David saw Keith at the family reunion picnic I was tearing up.

      It's just so powerful. Once this finale came out, many shows tried to duplicate the idea (which is smart b/c this finale is brilliant) but Six Feet Under is the only one that had this concept imbedded naturally into the show. The last time I watched it, I had to pause and slow motion through it all, so that I could make sure to catch everything. I had always just let it run through and let the emotion take over.

      So did we!! My occasional co-host Jackie has never seen it, so each week we have Movie Night and begin with an episode of Six Feet Under. And, I'm excited b/c I have had my DVDs forever, but it looks like HBO did an HD update. The episodes have never looked better, and I cannot wait to go on this journey with Jackie through one of the GREATEST series of all time. I might do another episode on SFU down the road, as this episode was one of my earliest attempts on my 411popCulture TH-cam channel, and I feel like the shows deserves better than what I was able to do at the time lol. Thanks for the comment!!

  • @jeffwatkins352
    @jeffwatkins352 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Where to start? SFU is hands down the best series ever made for television. IMHO of course. I did see it as it first aired. The teasers before it premiered made me think “What a dumb idea!” But, since it was Alan Ball, I figured to give the first episode a look, have my doubts confirmed, and move on. SO not! Hooked instantly, watched every episode (not a dog among them), got the DVD, and re-watch it yearly, sometimes twice a year or more. Brenda’s my favorite character, too, while Peter Krause’s Nate is big time sweet and a major hottie. But I love them all. Except Lisa, who I just HATE! Brilliant work by Lily Taylor, however. Hard to pick a favorite death. IMO the most meaningful is the older woman whose doctor examines her and asks why she waited so long to be seen. Words we should all take to heart. The wife who beans her nattering hubby with a frying pan always makes me guffaw. Also hard to pick a favorite episode, though Claire’s visit to Nate Sr. in heaven is a major contender, as is Nate not quite dying. After all, I’m a big Fellini fan.

      Loved reading this! I am actually on a lunch break so I do not have much time to respond, but I wanted to say that I agree with it all! I have loved other shows, but I just do not think anything will ever quite be able to do all that SFU did. The episode "That's My Dog" is still the most insanely brilliant thing I have ever seen, let alone the best series finale, and yes...just a show that managed to make every episode brilliant.

    • @jeffwatkins352
      @jeffwatkins352 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@411popCulturevideos "That's My Dog" is indeed the show's most uniquely brilliant and groundbreaking. I can't call it my favorite because it's so agonizing! I have to steel myself before each re-watch. Which is a tribute to its power IMO and not a failing. Nate burying Lisa is a close second. Agreed about the finale. Though it leaves me limp each time, it's so transcendently cathartic, it's like being healed.

    If I could just use your voice...clear, concise, reassured. I thought a third rewatch would be great. I grew more like Nate. And prehaps all Brenda's flaws. Could be worse, I could be Lisa. I didn't like his character. It's frightening. I do love Ruth. Love the actress.
