So when San Jose had that terrible start last season... Who was the team that broke that losing streak? Yeah, it was Philly and we knew it would happen days in advance. This year we know they're a mess, so I expect the opposite, they go Dalek on 80's night against somebody like Boston or Florida. Laughton is out there playing hard every night. I am very happy with how Michkov has been playing. His frustration on the empty net block he didn't make just warms my heart. Fedotov needs to go to Lehigh Valley for a month. There are some very highly paid players that look like crap right now, so I'm assuming they're already hurt and not admitting it like Couterier.
The cap space is a little misleading because of the termination of the Ryan Johansen contract. That cap space could vanish and turn into retroactive LTIR for Ellis if they lose the arbitration or whatever is going on with that contract.
I would say he should be used to horrible D considering he came from Brynäs in an era where our coaching jobs were a revolving door and defense was up and down... unless Philly took him right before that.
I've been a Flyers fan since the Lindros days. It pains me to see them suck so much, but hopefully they'll bounce back soon and be a playoff contender.
@@Rockhound6165Same here, I attended Philadelphia Blazer hockey games and I just want my Flyers to show more competitive jam to there game during this rebuild! ( I believe after this years draft in which we have 6 picks in the first two rounds is when we start to see the return of The Flyers of being a legit playoff threat once again )
Thank you for this excellent presentation. I have always liked Flyers and really a bit confused after these early games..as last year they over performed..and I wondered what expectations for this season beyond the genetic rebuild references. ✅
I have been trying to figure out why the Flyers suck right now. Pressure might be the answer. they were expected to suck last year and they definitely weren’t the worst. Now this year they have the addition of Michkov and some others, im sure they are all feeling the pressure to be better than they were. They are in their heads, i think they have talent just gotta find their groove (🤞)
Completely agree but just don’t want a poor locker room environment for Michkov, among others. If they play hard, develop some chemistry together, but still lose games, I couldn’t care less
If we are gonna be bad, I want us to be BAD so we can get a good pick. Happy seeing Michkov doing well. The second half of last nights game (minus the 2 empty net goals) does make me slightly optimistic
I have Morgan Frost, Owen Tippett and Travis Sanheim in my dynasty pool. They've been showing promise for years without taking that next step. Should I keep them? Who should I drop? Dilema
i feel ersson is better than the numbers suggest but certainly dont think he will be the no 1 in 3 years - def good enough to be an s tier backup for any team
Lots of changes fir him. I figured this year would be , stat wise, a throw away year for him. I think as long as, by the end of the season, you can see him developing, Philadelphia will be happy.
So last year wasn't about "this season", this year isn't about "this season" so what year is it going to be about "this season"? This won't fly for long in Philadelphia.
At some point tort will get them going. He made the most out of the depleted team last year, that didn’t look all that great on paper. Even though they have a rough start, I don’t think they’ll be a playoff team, he will get the most out of these guys and they’ll eventually get it together and not look that bad. Like yeah they’re not gonna be great but they’re far better than what we’ve seen so far. I mean you have to think at some point michkov is going to just take over and explode offensively, like kaprizov did to the wild
Thank you for making a video about Flyers. I mean, seeing Mitchkov do well is probably the only thing most of us fans have been hoping for. I just cannot stand the firing Tortorella narative that is already forming… such a nonsense.
Why is that nonsense? He does some very questionable things, such as putting his captain on the wing on the 4th line for the home opener which was his 800th career game milestone.
Appreciate fan input on Torts. I like his coaching but where are fans at this point…sounds like there is good investment in supporting things slowly rebuild and reset.
@@andrewptobbecouse coots has been bad its not questionable at all. that being his 800th game dosent mean anything only how good he plays does thats the different between flyers and a team like ducks
To me Torts is pulling some strange strings. Like benching Tyson F and then Bobby Brink where as neither are striving but they are ones that can be creative on Offense.
Torts is constantly juggling lines. Flyers have no continuity and players seem to be confused. Torts is always talking about structure, but they are playing unstructured hockey. They are often out of position and do not cover the gaps in the ice. Many games this year I see all three forwards within ten feet of each other in the offensive zone. This leaves huge chunks of ice uncovered. If they do dig out the puck there is no one to pass to. If the puck gets shot around the other team gets an easy break out and forwards are caught. I don't understand why pro players get mesmerized by the puck like you see at the youth level. Frustrating to watch.
What amazes me is how much worse this team would be without Michkov. He has been pretty much all of their offense and a big reason why their PP is much better.
To answer the question in the title, no. They have some of the worst goaltending in the league, one of the worst blue-lines in the league, and one of the worst offensive depth charts in the league. They might be lucky to only have to go through a 5-year rebuild but it might take a long time once they finally decide to tear things down. They need a starting goalie, they need at least 2 top 4 D to go with Drysdale and York, and they need 3 more top 6 forwards to go with Brink/Michkov/Tippett. It's really pathetic what's gone on with the Flyers over the last decade trying to chase 2010 but never managing to do so getting constantly bested by their older brother in Pittsburgh. Good luck to all you Flyers fans, it's going to be a long time. But hey at least Michkov might score 40 each year while Demidov dominates the league right? :)
You clearly dont know shit about the flyers the rebuild is like 3 years not 5 michkov is 100 times better than demidov flyers have arguably the best goalie prospect in the world ersson is not bad at all you didint even mention tk as top 6 forward and lastly pens will have 10 year rebuild in 3 years they have it much worse

How talented everyone is in the nhl.
Probably, in junior, there's one/two players that are that good. Everyone on an NHL roster is that talented
keep at it, Philadelphia
They're at least 3 years away from being competitive.
The cap space is a little misleading because of the termination of the Ryan Johansen contract. That cap space could vanish and turn into retroactive LTIR for Ellis if they lose the arbitration or whatever is going on with that contract.
Ersson isnt a bad goalie however their overall D is awful
I would say he should be used to horrible D considering he came from Brynäs in an era where our coaching jobs were a revolving door and defense was up and down... unless Philly took him right before that.
Goaltending curse lives on. I like both of them, but still... 10:28
Been chasing that dragon since November 11, 1985
Love the titles for these kinda videos lately
Worried that the team has quit on Torts and that this could be a significant setback for the development of the young players

They need to send Fedotov down. He's certainly not NHL ready.
Can they turn it around, sure. But will they be able to be above 500 by the end of December? Probably not.
Michkov is playing well, and drysdale is picking it up the last 3 games that’s really all I care about. Losing is probably ideal
Completely agree but just don’t want a poor locker room environment for Michkov, among others. If they play hard, develop some chemistry together, but still lose games, I couldn’t care less
Sharks video coming in three games!
Not only do they suck, but the development has tailored off too. Turns out trial-by-combat isn’t a great way to get young guys going.
2 of the losses were against the wagon that is the Washington capitals right now.
You could argue both games are winnable, and would have been close if not for the 2 shorty and stupid line change, and that's coming from a Caps fan.
If we are gonna be bad, I want us to be BAD so we can get a good pick. Happy seeing Michkov doing well. The second half of last nights game (minus the 2 empty net goals) does make me slightly optimistic

Play well against Boston???? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Mediocre team with unproven goaltending is not a recipe for success.

Wingers make the playoffs centres win cups. Like the wild till they get number one elite centre they will be a mushy middle team.
You need to add a Marvin the Paranoid Android magnet for us Flyers fans: depressed……..(sigh)
"Life...don't talk to me about LIFE!"
Hoping they do good for EJ
Nah probably not. All that matters is Michkov.
Can they turn it around? Nah. (Flyers fan)
3-15-7 is how bad it'll get 😅
Ouch! I hope not 🥶
Hi Shannon !...
They don't have any goaltending
Goalie problems
They better turn it around at least a little bit. I thought we all agreed that Columbus should win the draft lottery this year.
As a Sharks fan I feel offended to be left out of this conversation.

To me Torts is pulling some strange strings. Like benching Tyson F and then Bobby Brink where as neither are striving but they are ones that can be creative on Offense.
Flyers have no center depth and too many right handed RWs that aren’t as good as Michkov
Without Hart....the goaltending was going to be an issue. Not sure how they fix it. Right now it's all about Michkov and if he gets close to 82 points

Really mis the flyers roster from 2009-10 with Pronger, Timonen, Carter, Richards & Briere!
how can you not do a dedicated video on the only undefeated team so far - the winnipeg jets! winners winning, not losers losing.
Videos on bad teams generate more clicks than videos on good teams, people love a good trainwreck.
