Bro I know this is not the right place to ask this question, but my NS 200 BS4 (Which has around 72,000 in the odo) has been leaking oil from the magnetic cover side. The upper left side of it. Looks like its a common issue on this bike, and I am wondering if you know the solution to it. Also, I switched from 20w50 to 10w50 Motul Synthetic oil 7100, which seems to have made my bike better, but I am concerned about the ]oil leakage. The leakage is minor though, and I haven't had any issues so far (Touch wood.)
I took it to my trusted mechanic (Used to be a Bajaj Mechanic) and they just said that its condensation and that its normal, but I don't think so. PS: I couldn't really receive any help from any other youtube videos.
Hey buddy I'm not a professional mechanic but i faced this type of problem earlier in my father's motorcycle. So first of all - Is It Normal or Serious? If the leak is very minor, as described, and there are no additional issues like abnormal engine behavior, overheating, or a drop in oil level, it’s not immediately serious. However, it should be monitored. Left unchecked, even minor leaks can worsen over time, leading to loss of oil, contamination of other components, or even internal engine damage. Possible Causes: 1. Seal or Gasket Wear: The magnetic cover typically has a gasket or seal to prevent oil leakage. Over time, due to heat, vibration, or wear, this gasket can degrade and allow minor leaks. At 72,000 km, this is a likely cause. 2. Oil Change to a Different Grade: Switching from 20W50 to 10W50 may have played a role. The lower cold viscosity (10W vs 20W) of the new oil means it’s thinner when cold. If the gasket or seal was already worn, the thinner oil might find its way through small gaps more easily. 3. Crankcase Pressure: If the engine's crankcase ventilation system (PCV) is not functioning properly, excess pressure can build up in the engine, forcing oil through weak points like seals and gaskets. 4. Surface Imperfections: The mating surfaces of the magnetic cover and the engine casing may have imperfections or damage that allow oil to seep out, especially if the cover has been removed previously (e.g., during maintenance). 5. Oil Level Overfill: If the oil level is slightly overfilled, it can lead to oil seepage from various points, including the magnetic cover. So please inspect everything closely, you'll find your solution. In my father's bike gasket (1st reason) was broken that's why oil leaks. After installing a new one problem was solved.
Honda doesnt offer this kind of performance in a 200cc engine..Even if then price will be much higher..Thats the reason why Honda never has a successful product abive 160cc in India..
