I have the 5555nii, I wish the company would offer the green display unit so as I could change it out from the orange display, I prefer green which looks much better. Great job on changing yours out.
I did the green on two friends radios , at5555nii and qt-60, but i did the lazy way by cutting to length, led strips off a reel of led strips you can find on ebay, green looks truly amazing, loved the way it looked, so i did green on my qt-60, the other qt-60 ive decided to go with purple. You're doing a great job there by the way. Thanks and 73s.
Wayne you are the master thanks for looking after me mate and I hope if you your Mrs or Alfie need any help with anything then ask because mates like you come along once in a lifetime and you're stuck with me now!😂😂😂
Beautiful job mate. The green display is definitely the best look in my opinion...the buttons all illuminated in green would look awesome too...but as you say...if it's too much hassle...73's
That looks absolutely brilliant, see the orange puts me off too, I'm about to order the 7900v Turbo but as I say, the orange looks wank 👎🏻 wish that added changeable colours
Yes mate I'm with you. I got into smd now with hot sir iron and so on. It would be alot easier now lol. Thanks for the positive comment. Regards Porky 😊
Good vid, i like these radios and i have heard there is a new version coming out early 2022, interesting that you can adjust the RF meter via the menu...
Great MOD, Love it. Why can't you add a flat RGB light the size of the display and have all the colors you want including flashing, blinking etc.? If modding is your thing than that is what is the best option. You might get bored with green, right?
I have an Alinco DX135 and always had it on the blue display, but after 2 months it went very dim, it’s now on green that is ok and hasn’t gone dim like the blue did. Strange. Your radio looks good in green.
This looks a lot cooler. Maybe next time you can try what they call dark mode by reversing film so the background is black and all the display is green. Anyway sir, what is the difference between this radio and the AT5555N aside from the power output?
I'm not sure only had the 7900. Got the new 8900 now so will mod that too. I have experimented with inverting the screen on other radios but didn't give me the equil brightness across the screen. Kind regards Porky aka Sheriff Of Nottingham.
Hi, I don't remember the size. I seem to think they are the one size up from the smallest ones. I measured the ones in the radio then did resurch to find brite green, I then bought three sizes trying to fit the biggest ones in. Got them off ebay. Hope this helps as it's been some years now. Regards Porky.
@porkypigcbradio wow how crazy is that ,yeah it's in near mint condition boxed with half the programming lead the jackplug female to usb bit is missing.. I am very pleased with the radio only had it a few days my 1st contact was on 10mtrs into Moscow sat in Morrisons carpark
Am I right in thinking u made it so can be programmed via the mike plug if that's right could u make me the cable I will happily pay what ever it costs and post would be much appreciated
Has anyone else noticed how the S-meter on the AT5555N seems to be "stuck" in a vary narrow range? Mine will very seldom get above S9 even when multiple other listeners located at greater distance from a powerful station are reporting +10, +20 and higher readings. This radio needs a method to calibrate the S-meter. I've been searching for one and still haven't found it.
Have not got clue what your talking about but I’m intrigued and interested in getting into radio, any tips or recommendations for a noob, price is not a problem I want the easiest and best without using a ion 😂 thanks. P.S love the green.
@@porkypigcbradio Thank you for your information Porky . I opened up my new 7900V , I found the led display supply cable , it's pin 2 next to the red wire on the 6 pin connector to the left of the ribbon , I've installed a switch between that supply cable & success , the screen led's now switches off , the radio looks better during daylight when the led display is off , the only location I found for the switch was at the rear of the radio ,but I can live with that , it's now like the Yaesu FT 818 as that screen can be switched off too . It can also save power & has also reduced internal noise on AM with the Led's off. It was worth voiding guarantee . Thank you again for your help , it was much appreciated .
bonjour merci pour cette vidéo pourriez vous expliquer comment faire une prise PTT arrière pour pouvoir y brancher un QRM eliminator ? et sauriez vous aussi ou brancher un fréquencemètre externe ? merci d'avance
Hello Porky , I would like to convert my 7900 V to clear white led's , I would be really grateful if you can possibly point me in the right direction in order to purchase these led's , it would be really appreciated .
Hi buddy. I got mine off ebay, it is a while now so don't remember the exact size. I would say down load a chart off Google that gives you the size to code type for smd leds. Then measure your leds in your radio. I didn't do that . I bought 3 sets of leds the smallest up. Then fitted the biggest I could get in. Which were one size up. So mine are bigger and brighter . Hope this helps. Porky.
Hello Porky , I've just ordered the led's , their 0603 package , I think there's a polarity marking on them & hopefully I'll be able to see the polarity marking on the current led's that are on the pcb . I'll keep you up to date on everything , I'll also have a look at illuminating all the under buttons too , I have non conductive 3M industrial double sided tape & can purchase all the led's into position next to the switch , it's a matter of connecting them with thin whisker cable & finding the led supply . @@porkypigcbradio
Green would not go with my interior of my car so I’ll not do it. Also I had a sneak look inside, wondered for a second and went....naaahhh. Too small for my short fat fingers

Thanks I would of done RGB but to much work trying to put tracks where lcd sits and connects.
Regards Porky.
Thank you for sharing , looks so much better with the green display .
I might change all the led's to clear white , it will look similar the yaseu FT-891.

I like orange personally but you did a good job. I just ordered one here in Canada.
Thanks mate.

looks better in green well done
That's crazy intensive but looks awesome.
I sold one of them, but still got the other one, thanks for the comments.
Just saw this and like the green much more than the orange on the Radioddity QT 60 that came out this year.
It's better than orange I think.
Porky.
Good vid, i like these radios and i have heard there is a new version coming out early 2022, interesting that you can adjust the RF meter via the menu...
I like the green a lot more than the orange
Still awesome. (See this is done 4 years ago already when i write this)
Did not even know this radio is on the market that long neither
I used a light blue transparent tape over the orange. The results were more blue-green and not as pleasant as your colour.
Looks nice in green. How do you rate the radio in general ?. Toying with the idea of buying one, but not that much info on 'em.
If I sent mine to you, would you consider doing all the mods you did?
Sorry my friend but I dont do mods or repairs anymore,
Regards Porky.

I would have but the pub tracks needed would make it very difficult.👍😪
Hi. What size SMD diode did you use and what is its voltage?
Greens me favourite colour. So this gets my approval.
You could have done a 4 to 12 ratio. Then the left side with the meters would be orange.
I have an Alinco DX135 and always had it on the blue display, but after 2 months it went very dim, it’s now on green that is ok and hasn’t gone dim like the blue did. Strange. Your radio looks good in green.
Yes sir, green is Gods choice for Earths grass, thanks for your video on the 10/11 radio’s.
??
difficult for me...I want blue lights. I have the Dynascan 10M, it's the shame radio.
Hi. What is the tool that you used to undo the four brass nuts with the four cutouts that hold RFG and POWER and VOL and CLAR SQ AND Channel selector
Hi. I used pin nosed pilers for that.
This looks a lot cooler. Maybe next time you can try what they call dark mode by reversing film so the background is black and all the display is green. Anyway sir, what is the difference between this radio and the AT5555N aside from the power output?

Hi Mate, love the green display, can you tell me what size LED's you used in the end, and what voltage they were please?
Hi mate.
I can't remember the exact size but it is the very small ones. I bought four different sizes to get there.
Been a while now. Regards Porky.
Hi . Can you remember what the voltage of the 18 led’s is
Hi. What voltage and size are these green led’s and what is the site you got them from. And how did you change the 7900 to add the G

I do have an hot air gun now lol😅.
Awesome job!
Thanks mate.
I'll stick with the orange screen, sorry, but the green screen just isn't doing it for me, but each to there own.
I have just got a green one ,it's awesome it's got a what looks like a phono plug at back
That is one of my two radios. The RCA at the back is for tx amp switch. Some amps like RMhave the same RCA on them.😊😊

Sorry but I can't.
You can watch the video on TH-cam which pins are used I can't remember and have means of testing.
Kind regards Porky.
would of been easier with a hot air rework gun my friend
great video...can the ssb power variable mod be done on the crt9900?
I don't have one but yes any radio.
Nice! Why on earth was the reddish orange brown used? not pleasant
I don't know but I didn't like it .👍

Try pc software you can change the settings to read properly at different s readings.

Hello. what exactly are the diodes used? model type?
I think they are 1205 size ?
I bought 4 different sizes to get the biggest in I could. So I can't be sure which went in. Regards Porky.
I like green better it's a better and pretty color
were is that limmiter ,for the power????? like the green......
The presets are all labeled, so very easy.
Regards Porky.
I was wondering if there is a way of switching the back light off ?.
Yes if you cut the power to the leds. Not sure of the configuration but can be done if it is not under the lcd it's self.
