  • In this podcast, Dr. Hicks discusses the relationship between Marxism and postmodernism. After he looks at the political commitments of the major postmodernists, he looks at how aligned these thinkers happen to be with Marx's ten key features of scientific socialism:
    1. Reductive materialism
    2. Logic of history (laws of history)
    3. Universal scientific necessity
    4. Economics is most fundamental
    5. Adversarial (zero-sum) understanding of the world
    6. Oppression and exploitation
    7. People shaped by economic forces
    8. Violent revolution will be necessary
    9. Class distinctions will fade
    10. From each according to his ability to each according to his need
He concludes by looking at the influence of Jean Jacques Rousseau on the postmodern movement.
For some time, Professor Hicks has been doing a podcast on a wide range of contemporary topics. It has been available on a number of other platforms. It is now being offered on TH-cam as well. Its mission is to “ to explain the chaos.”
Stephen R. C. Hicks, Ph.D., is Professor of Philosophy at Rockford University, USA, and has had visiting positions at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., University of Kasimir the Great in Poland, Oxford University’s Harris Manchester College in England, and Jagiellonian University in Poland.

Postmodernism is not neo-Marxist, but many neo-Marxists are adept at picking up convenient ideas they find in pomo.

I read this as "they find in porno." I think pomo is a really unfortunate acronym xD.

"Yes, no, and sort of" sounds like a better answer. Nice try though 😄
