***** He does have the honour of being the best-dressed man in comedy and has probably appeared in every podcast ever (at least that's what it feels like), that counts for something.
I thought this was going to be a parody (I guess so did the audience), instead Paul knocks it out of the park again with a straight cover! I love his 'How Soon Is Now' too.
The best part is that as a viewer, I'm prepared to just laugh at a comedian singing a famous song, but then it turns out PFT actually has some really nice pipes, and it's sincerely pretty good.
Just when I thought I couldn't think more highly of Paul F. Tompkins than I already do...I am stunned and giddy. Thank you, Paul F. Tompkins. Thank you.
I'm with you. I think the laughter is just the delight and surprise at a full-on straight presentation of the song. So, "funny" in the sense of surprising and delightful. Plus, that extraordinary suit.
One of the truly best "comedic" performances of the past decade. I still have not heard the original, but know that I will be disappointed when I do. PFT is the friggin' best. (period.) so there!! musicbylen
Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes yes YES! This is the most hilariously awesome male being in the universe! 😂😂😂 Beyond Belief brought me here...and the Pod F. Tompkast, of course
This is awesome Pail F. Tompkins is the only guy who could sing something seriously and have it be hilarious and make a carnival barker suit look so very good.
So amazing. I forget about this song and Facebook reminds me once a year. I love it! Let me just echo what others have said, I would ABSOLUTELY buy an album full of Paul F. Thompkins covering songs. Beautiful voice.
The thing paul f tompkins shows is that the crowd laughs at him not making any jokes...but he's still one of my favourite comedians ever and this a great cover
Still one of my favorite things. Paul F. Tompkins and Eban Schletter made this historically funny and genuinely fun performance. When I finally rented the movie (Skyfall) I had youtube running on the home theater during the opening credits and it was flawless. #Brilliant
I’m so glad Paul talked about this on Stay F Homekins so I can experience this for the first time and let me just say, Paul is much too humble about this performance because he slayed like an absolute QUEEN. You and your wife are wonderful people and always brighten my day when I hear you guys laughing together and telling stories. Even when the quarantine is over, I hope you guys will continue releasing content together! I remember hearing you say on one episode that you feel like you won’t have enough content for both Stay F Homekins and Threedom and I assume that’s because you don’t want to be retelling the same stories or conversations, but honestly I think most listeners wouldn’t mind. You can tell me the same story multiple times and I’ll pretend to act surprised like it’s the first time because I love the way you tell stories regardless lol. I hope one day I’m lucky enough to meet you in person but I’m afraid of what awful chain of events would ever lead to you being in Louisiana in the first place, but hey fingers crossed 🤞
Came here because of an episode of "Tell Me Everything" hosted by Liam Gareau. I had heard PFT sing parts of Skyfall over the years, but never knew this existed...I loved it, I'd like it again if I could.
I couldn't have even hummed the tune of this song after seeing Skyfall, and yet somehow this version has become ingrained into my mind to the point of obsession. Such is the power of PFT.
It was my first time seeing Paul live, so when he said he was going to close with "Danny Boy" I was a bit befuddled. Great performance! Total surprise. PS - I am going to The Tam O'Shanter next year at Christmas. The carolers scared me off circa 2005 and I have never returned!
Right?!? I was just thinking that as much as I love him as a comedian, I would absolutely buy a non-comedy album of Paul just singing. The man is an amazing talent.
He's like Matt Beary, everyone presumes because of his comedic chops that he's always gonna do a bit, but Matt is a phenomenally skilled singer, too, and has put out at least one album that's just him singing.
This is awesome and hilarious lol. Love the band and dancers, Paul crushed it. There's a TH-camr named Charlotte Foley who rocked The Writings on the Wall and I bet Paul could sing a redeeming version too. Bravo sir!
To my knowledge, he's the best showman in the universe.
***** He does have the honour of being the best-dressed man in comedy and has probably appeared in every podcast ever (at least that's what it feels like), that counts for something.
I'm not disputing it but Billy Joel can give him a run for his money.
I agree one million percent
@@EGOS42 Billy Joel is a talentless hack.
I’ve got to give best to Martin Short, Paul is in the pantheon
Why is this not titled "SkyPaul"?
Hahahaha, I had to show my appreciation for this comment
That... is actually better.
Love the moment when the audience stops laughing -- stunned, at how great this is.
The suit was the handshake; the comedy was the pitch; and the song sealed the deal. What a mighty good man. ❤️
I thought this was going to be a parody (I guess so did the audience), instead Paul knocks it out of the park again with a straight cover! I love his 'How Soon Is Now' too.
I had the privilege of seeing this show live. It was amazing. I have had this song stuck in my head for weeks.
:)
9 years later and stays in my rotation. ❤️
Wow. And here I thought he was just hilarious, devilishly handsome and seemed to look younger as he aged. Had no idea he could sing like that! Bravo!
How have I been enjoying the comedic stylings of PFT for nearly a decade and just now be learning he can legitimately sing?
He's a bit of a singer in the same way that Christopher Walken is a bit of a hoofer
I would pay good money for an album of PFT covers.
Same.
Lets make this happen
Only songs by Lord, Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber.
@@tolbydamit and Cake Boss
@@garrybarry4286 yes yes yes yes this is literally his best character/bit ever!
I thought I was the only one who remembered that.
The best part is that as a viewer, I'm prepared to just laugh at a comedian singing a famous song, but then it turns out PFT actually has some really nice pipes, and it's sincerely pretty good.
Shit
He's a "belter" in the way that Christopher Walken is a "hoofer" lol
ive been watching this vid about once a week for the last two years
Man I am glad I am not the only one
saaaame
I prefer the space oddity one
It's pretty great
I had to convert it to MP3 I must have it everywhere!
Omg I LOVE Paul and Janie!
Came here after the Stay F Homekins podcast!
Me too
Same!
Same
As Janie said - ya killed! Wish there was a video of his impromptu performance too!
Just when I thought I couldn't think more highly of Paul F. Tompkins than I already do...I am stunned and giddy. Thank you, Paul F. Tompkins. Thank you.
PFT: The Greatest Showman On Earth.
Checked in for my bi-annual viewing of this, and once again the beauty of it brought me to tears. Thanks PFT
I came back to this and saw my own comment and thought, “brought me to tears? That seems a bit much”
and then watched it again and guess what
Everytime I hear this rendition, my eyes light up like some Irish guy!
Literal chills 👏👏👏
I'm with you. I think the laughter is just the delight and surprise at a full-on straight presentation of the song. So, "funny" in the sense of surprising and delightful. Plus, that extraordinary suit.
A man out of time. He would be a successful showman in any time period.
I can't imagine a day when I don't watch this at least 575,765 times.
No idea why but I've had an extremely emotional reaction to this. The joy is fantastic and the tears are proof
One of the truly best "comedic" performances of the past decade. I still have not heard the original, but know that I will be disappointed when I do.
PFT is the friggin' best. (period.)
so there!!

the definitive recording.
i think i've listened to this version 100x more than the original
He totally crushed this. But he's also dressed like Bert from Mary Poppins lol
GodDAMMIT, sir! I salute you!
Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes yes YES! This is the most hilariously awesome male being in the universe! 😂😂😂 Beyond Belief brought me here...and the Pod F. Tompkast, of course
I have never listened to the original in full. My heart craves this majesty.
This is awesome Pail F. Tompkins is the only guy who could sing something seriously and have it be hilarious and make a carnival barker suit look so very good.
Still love this
awww I didn't know he could sing! This is one talented dude.
I've honestly watched or listened to this ~30 times. It is currently my favorite thing.
I so love that I've now seen video of both halves of Frank & Sadie doing Bond themes at Largo. This is brilliant.
Ssww
I never get sick of this; every time through, I just love it more.

I can't stop watching this. PFT FTW.
So amazing. I forget about this song and Facebook reminds me once a year. I love it! Let me just echo what others have said, I would ABSOLUTELY buy an album full of Paul F. Thompkins covering songs. Beautiful voice.
Well done. PFT is a Genius.
The thing paul f tompkins shows is that the crowd laughs at him not making any jokes...but he's still one of my favourite comedians ever and this a great cover
Incredible. Absolutely incredible. What a showman.
Why didn't I know he had such a great voice? Simply awesome!
Had to come back and watch this again. One of my favorite performances, period.
Still one of my favorite things. Paul F. Tompkins and Eban Schletter made this historically funny and genuinely fun performance.
When I finally rented the movie (Skyfall) I had youtube running on the home theater during the opening credits and it was flawless.

Which episode?
Lol
I remember thinking that quarantine would actually end
I was feeling really crappy but this really cheered me up.

this now makes sitting though all of "Skyfall", worth it...
PFT- you are my favorite person.
I just gave this a standing ovation.
I love you Paul, that was so fantastic!
This is perfection on every level, people. Standing ovation.
Read a story about Skyfall, made me have to come back and hear this again. Superb.
I couldn't have even hummed the tune of this song after seeing Skyfall, and yet somehow this version has become ingrained into my mind to the point of obsession. Such is the power of PFT.
This is the best thing on TH-cam.
The most pleasant and calming singing voice I've ever heard.
just a little in love with PFT
holy shit, this is majestic
Fantastic. Just fantastic.
I love this man
Beautiful version of an amazing song!
I can't stop looping this. WHY?
I love it so much! I have heard this at least 20 times now, and I have heard Adele's just 3 times.
Marvellous Paul! :X
Amazing. Always the consummate entertainer!
It was my first time seeing Paul live, so when he said he was going to close with "Danny Boy" I was a bit befuddled. Great performance! Total surprise.

Ok. So I'm only a decade late and I've said it before ... PFT: NATIONAL TREASURE!
Thank you John Hodgeman and Paul F. Tompkins!
So awesome...
One of the best things I've ever seen.
WONDERMOUS
Wow. I can't get over how great this is.
Absolutely amazing!
Incredible
What a talent!
Magical.
Should have been at the Oscars.
This is showmanship.
The man is awesome. Love the suit.
This is so fantastiche
I've never heard him sing before. He's really good. Love the suit.
I enjoy this unironically.
Absolutely glorious!
I would buy an album of PFT singing covers. Or originals, actually.
Found this to be more enjoyable than Seth McFarlane's cover album.
Good golly. That's a beautiful set of pipes!
I love this, and I love that suit.
You once again amaze me sir.
Well done, Mr.Tompkins
I want more singing in 2019. I love your vibrato!
I love this version!!
You got a very pretty voice Paul
Oh lordy, do I love this.
Who knew he had such a lovely voice?
This is awesome and hilarious lol. Love the band and dancers, Paul crushed it. There's a TH-camr named Charlotte Foley who rocked The Writings on the Wall and I bet Paul could sing a redeeming version too. Bravo sir!
Hey, paul. Ya nailed it.
Surprisingly good! Love your warble, PFT!
Few singers can be that relaxed on stage; fuck comedy this is art.
Genius
Wow! Awesome!
