Have to say, if you want a lifetime companion - these guitars (ALL of them) are built so beautifully. There's an Excel 63 grinning like the coolest gal ever, just right next to me. And it's archtop relative in a case beside her. These things are not cheap. But you buy it ONCE, amigo. Love and Peace. Get out and Vote in 2024, and save America.
That's some great playing by Mr. Stalling. I had a listen to the Iced Tea model with Duo Bolt Buckers by Supro on the other TH-cam video and then compared to this custom voiced hum bucker version and I think I prefer the latter i.e. solid black version sound wise. Really cuts, very clear and isolated string tonality. However, I prefer the Iced Tea finish. Oh well! Will save me from buy a third D"Angelico guitar then! (unfortunately ...unless one can request a custom order from D'Angelico?)
Yes, there's a slight differences between the types of wood on each model plus these new $699 Premier models feature D'Angelico Humbuckers as opposed to Supro Bolt Buckers on the older Premier semi-hollows. If you used the Specs and Compare button on our product page, you can compare the two side by side. dangelicoguitars.com/guitars/premier-series/premier-ss/#specs
Do you think he has enough stomp boxes? Yikes! In my 60 years of playing guitar, I think I used a Fender blender two times, and, for a few months, my setup included a MuTron Bi-Phase and a Guild Copycat, but most of the time I just plugged the guitar into an amp with no effects. Not saying that either case is good or bad; it depends upon what sound you are looking for. I mostly wanted the sound produced by the guitar's pickups.
That was unreal!

One of these will be my next purchase. Would love to have them make me a custom instrument at some point.

Can you explain why this model is $200 cheaper than the other premier dc’s? Is it because the fingerboard is walnut?
