In today’s video I want to talk about the danders of buying goods online. Going forward I will be only buying goods from my local deals.
What do you do?

Who needs headphones? I just listen to the voices in my head😂
I just hate when they start arguing amongst themselves
Brilliant, thank you .
I’ve mostly bought from online retailers like Sam turner. But I learned my lesson after buying a mower from them last year with a defect. The returning process turned into a nightmare as the mower got severely damaged during the transit process, and the original fault still hadn’t been fixed. I ended up with a brand new replacement in the end but I was without a machine for 6 weeks in the middle of the season. From now on I will only be consumables, things like strimming line/blades etc online, large purchases like new machines will be bought from a local dealer
It takes a situation like this to teach us all a lesson. Thank you .
I brought a lawn flight pro off them 6 months ago They delivered to wrong house first and took it away and said I wasn’t in 😮 had a right game with it , it’s working great at moment but you never know ,thanks for letting us know about that one great vid
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
FR Jones was my local store Rob, funnily enough, I'd bought a Stihl mower from them shortly before they went under, lucky for me I got it in-store though. Their shelves were looking very bare on my last couple of visits, the signs were there I suppose, and they were cheaper than everyone else at that point too. Another great video mate.
Thank you, appreciate your comment.
Hi Rob. Im not a fan of buying online. I prefer going to a shop and actually looking and feeling the quality of what i am getting. I think a lot of online sellers are selling factory seconds, so they appear to be cheap, but thats because they've had a fault from the factory.
Anyways, great info.
Peace and love to you brother
You make a great point. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Dealer for all machines, but for consumables it's always Amazon or Ebay, my local dealers are in towns I don't work in, it is so convenient to order online.
Cool. If that works for you. All the best.
Local companys can go bust too. Whenever you buy (especialy big stuff) use your credit card. If the company goes bust your credit card company becomes liable so will have to refund you
The credit card insurance is on valid for 90 days. I tried. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Rob try contacting the manufacturer about your headphones. You never know it might be worth it. Good luck. Ps Like your channel.
A great idea, thank you .
Radmore and tucker great service and prices or sam turners i have found both really good
The issue comes trying to resolve issues post sale. Especially with large items .
Radmore and Tucker are excellent. Luckily not far from me
I use apple air pods pro. They are noise cancelling and i can use them for listening to music along with my Apple Watch. Had them over a year and they are dirty, but work so well.
Sounds great . Thanks Adam.
Had the same issue with FR&sons with a battery lawnmower that was broken when delivered. Called and emailed with no luck. Repaired the broken part, lasted 2 seasons. I have a look at prices online and then go to the local dealers. Most will either price match or better the online prices.
Local dealers it is. All the best.
I have a golden rule to always keep everything with my local supplier for the simple reason if anything goes wrong I'm 5/10 mins away from getting it sorted plus it's helping towards the local economy so a win win
I agree with you 100 percent Ian. All the best.
I was lucky with FR Jones bought a Makita long handle hedge trimmer, week later then went bump, but managed to get warrwnty sorted for 3 years
Pleased to hear that. 👍🏻
I agree Rob...bought a strimmer from parker brand...cant tell you how many issues i had with it..they had me jumping through hoops..i was at the end of my tether with it..eventually they refunded me....went to local garden machinery shop they have been brilliant..had a slight issue with it and they sorted it straight away....lesson learnt...i have gone back to proper shops now 😂
We have all been there. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I always go to Seddons in Farnworth or World of Power in Buxton for things. Both have great websites but I always go to collect. Some tempting deals online though elsewhere....
I agree local is best.👍🏻
I bought a lot of dewalt gear from an online retailer here in Ireland. They were more than helpful, until I was looking for a hedge trimmer and went looking at the site I had been buying from to date....... Poof, gone, site down, bye bye.
Will be far more careful in the future.
I will only buy from a dealer / shop going forward. 👍🏻
If i can buy any items in PERSON, then I would. I would only buy online unless I really had too.
A good plan. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Tbf, I buy online regularly but only from the likes of Hyundai, Masport, Husqvarna etc.
Places that are literally rich without any research needed😅 I've heard too many of these stories to even attempt to buy from private sellers or that of the sort!
All the best Rob, knowing you by your quality of work, youl make that £90 back in no time😉
Another excellent video ! May I ask where you got your top from with your logo on as the top looks excellent ! Keep the videos coming they are always excellent !
Anthony James work clothing store in Blaydon, North East of England.
Always local dealers for me, and i find tool station and screwfix are good for dumpy bags and bits and bobs too.
I do like my local screw fix for bits and bobs. 👍🏻
Tree surgeon and landscaping never Been so busy in my life for January
Pleased to hear. 👍🏻
I buy some on line, but prefer to go to dealers and see and chat about what I'm buying. Hard not to pick up a few other little bits while I'm there though!
I agree with you Tony. All the best.
good video rob as always, i have never brought on line research on line all the time i have 5 or 6 local dealers close to me and look at the best deal pop to shop and get it i have looked for some consumables on line but again the dealers by me are great if i get a package of bits there is always a deal to be had. and i would say it also a relationship with suppliers bit like us with the customers also have the chat can bring in some extra work or the deal from the dealership and that can be £100 off a mower or something . to me there is a networking a chat goes a long way it is like us all chatting here if we lived close i would be thinking on some jobs clean ups etc lets team up all the best to you mate hope the season gets going well
Brilliant comment Shane, thank you.
Rob sam turner's is the best around its actually my local dealer and generally cheapest around...
I agree, they offer a great service.👍🏻
Just an idea but if you contact the manufacturer they may send you the replacement as they admitted a fault and instead of sending you the bankrupt company they could send direct to you? Also if you buy on credit card I think they would have refunded you as they would have been liable for the purchase? May be worth looking into?
Good luck
I am going to try that, thank you Adam.👍🏻
I had no idea about F.R. Jones & Son.. i have ordered a few bits in the past from them, that's a shame and of course frustrating!
I agree Josh. All the best.
I generally buy mowers local if available. Chainsaws, etc. buy online. It all depends what's available locally. I find those radio ear defenders uncomfortable. 😪
We all work differently. Thanks for watching.
Online for me as local dealers service leaves a lot to be desired over here in Carlisle. Used to be good but not anymore.
A fair point. All the best.
You would have been in the same situation if you had got them in Local shop and it had gone bust. Most these online retailers are a local shop for someone. Idealy buy local but cant always wait for them to stock items they are also tied to certain brands as well. ordered my etesia mower from a shop in the scottish borders it was delivered to the door and set up and tested. What do you think of the weibang scarrifier i got the smaller one to yours? I am not sure about it, its really well built but the swinging blades are too thick and hammer the ground. Dont worry phone will be off the hook soon enough now the storms have passed.
I like my scarifier, it’s probably too big for what I need. If the ground is damp , yes it does scratch the soil. Solidly built.
👌
Have you ever tried Sam turner and sons?
Yes , a while back .
It’s quite a distance from Newcastle so probably not worth it.
I bought a stihl battery mower on line, is was crap until I sorted it myself. contacted stihl UK. They were rubbish, might as well of talked to the wall.
Exactly, that’s why I go to my local dealer. All the best.
Totally agree, local is the way, too many mess ups online, broken, not the right item, late or lost delivery, just not worth the bother. ,👍
That’s what I was trying to say. Thank you .
We live and learn well hopefully so anyway Rob
We certainly do. Have a great weekend.
You too Rob enjoy a nice bottle of wine my good friend
Get yr self some Stihl headphones rob there bulletproof 👍
Do they have a built in radio?
They don’t have built in radio but they Bluetooth to yr phone so you can listen to any radio station I just keep my phone in my inside pocket and you can answer and make calls hands free so no need to stop working had mine over 2 years never skipped a beat and only ever charged them when I remember because they never seem to lose their charge cracking bit of kit and good price rob
@@colintodd8777 I've got some with Bluetooth, usually download podcasts or BBC sounds. They're great. Got them with the clip on screen for when I've got the big strimmer out! (Not a euphemism 😂)
Can you make the rain stop Rob?
It’s a pain , no work done today.
My dealer says if you can by ut cheaper online he will match the price and he does good old GDC
A good dealer. 👍🏻
I buy from main dealers/internet hit and miss i suppose mate, roll on march eyy 🌿🙏
Thanks Jake.👍🏻
My local (? About 15miles away) is great. They have everything you need and more. Great service. And actually cheaper than eBay, amazon. It's called Charlie's.
Sounds great.👍🏻
Try buy local myself which don't have wait for delivery
Very true. All the best.
Spot on
Shop local but get the help if a problem
Very wise.
Buy local. Mite be bit dearer but better service and no problems. Keep it local and help keep them going. 👌
That's the plan! Great advice.
I think your doing yourself out of money by not shopping online. The price variations between online and a physical store mean you still save money even if someone goes bust. I buy almost all my stuff online anyway because often the physical store doesn't have it instore and will take weeks to get it.
They should have given you an exchange or refund because the problem with the headphones could be verified straight away. So next time you know, ask for your money back if they pull that.
Make the most of your free time now, everybody's grass and garden will be a foot long soon and your phone will be ringing non-stop haha!
Did you buy via Amazon coz if you did and complain to them they are absolutely brilliant at getting things resolved
Thank you for the advice.👍🏻
NO , from fr Jones. 👍🏻
Had the same thing happen to me F R Jones kept kicking the can down the road…. Luckily I had bought the chainsaw on my credit card so got the £500 back! 😅 👍🏼👍🏼
Pleased to hear that you managed to get things sorted.👍🏻
Didn't know about FR Jones. I thought they where big players?
With everything I try to buy local. Not just gardening gear. Our high streets and shopping centres are like ghost towns now. We all complain there is no community anymore. But where to blame. The more we buy online to save a fiver, the more local businesses suffer and eventually close.
If I do make big purchases online then I use my credit card for the extra protection it offers.
Thanks Gary. Your credit card only gives you 90 days insurance. If a product goes back like this one , you’re not covered. 👍🏻
@@maxwellsgrasscuttingservices Didn't know that Rob. I thought it was much longer? Cheers 👍
Use a Credit card your covered ... eBay your covered upto £500 ..
Only for 90 days. All the best.
Pay with PayPal or credit card. You’re covered.
Only for 90 days , thank you for watching.
I wouldn’t be prepared to wait for 90 days for a purchase anyway.
Btw FRJones was somebody’s local dealer.👍🏻
If you paid with credit card you should be able to get your money back
Your insurance covers you for 90 days. 👍🏻
I found that fella pal who gave you fake bad reviews he was a fellow gardener who you have chatted with in your replies !! He’s been dealt with and I’ll leave it there pal 👍
Thank you . May I ask who it was?
Let’s just say HD pal 👍
I don’t get it. Name and shame. I will keep it to myself.
I did HD grass cutting services pal
He’s commented on ya videos before 👍
I buy from actual shop.
Me and you both 👍🏻
Online is pain in the arse.
Correct.👍🏻
Sony over ear, don't fuck about, hold on,
WH-1000XM(?), I have the 3rd gen, more than 4yrs now, still good, 🤞
Do they have a built in radio ?
You never lost £90.. You had 3.5yrs out of them.
The new pair lasted a week. Returned to company who went bust. Yes I lost out.
you had one bad experience unfortunately. internet 99.9% cheaper . local dealer charge top wack. i look for nearly new stuff on line .
Where would you buy nearly new equipment from? Thanks.
Buy on the credit card & it's always covered as Martin Lewis tells us on the money programme
Only for 90 days. 👍🏻
Just looked it up as interested for future, so it's 120 days then after that it says there's a Section 75 claim that can be made for even bankrupt companies
