No blurred windows so you can’t see the professional driver doing the driving, no over dubbed music so we can’t hear the engine, no constant quick flicking from shot to shot just proper driving by the actual presenter and a chance to look at the car properly, they were the days for both cars and tv.

Some bloke got the UK land speed record for a production car years back in one of those , he tuned his Cossie to 1000bhp and hit 220 mph sadly the man who produced that magic passed away in 2018 but what a brilliant engine in that car

@@chrismc1977 Yep, the Sierra Sapphire RS when released already had a floorpan blueprint from a decade earlier, it had the torsional rigidity of a wet lettuce - the Escort Cosworth was the same, signed off in 89, and as as good as it looked, already had 80's architecture underneath with flexy semi trailing arms supported by a soggy rear beam, only the Group A boys sorted that out

Man, those were the days. Me and my brother used to get so hyped if we saw a cossie on the road back then in the late 80s early 90s. As true as it is that they were supercar quick (almost) back then, the Japanese were also making some properly fast cars. 89 saw the release of the R32 GTR, Toyota already had the 1JZGTE in numerous models, Mazdas 13B turbo was in the S4 and S5 RX7, Mitsubishi had VR4 Galants and Subaru RS legacys. Hondas B16a VTEC engine released in 89 was a gem and the civics and integras that powered were featherweight. The golden era of cars for me. Should have snapped a few up 10 years ago before the price skyrocketed!

Paul radisich was there and Harvey ect, he was taking the owner of a sapphire cosy round the track 4 up and sideways everywhere bloody amazing skill. Unfortunately the owner must have thought it was easy I remember seeing it later and the back doors wouldn't shut as it hobbled out of the venue.Johnswell my maternity an excellent driver with a lot of track experience got well and truly stuffed we were going thru craner curves flat out when radisich came past us five up in another standard VR6 and preceeded to leave us in his fumes 💨 we couldn't believe it! It was mind blowing how bad the small US Escorts and other Fords compared to what you had across the water. My Dad bought new 1980 Fiesta Sport and became my car.
