Johnny Hockey was one of the most talented players the league had ever seen. His 115 points in 2021-22 was the greatest single season performance from a Calgary Flame. He changed how the was game played and interpreted, showing how size didn’t matter. Without Johnny, an entire generation of playmakers would be missing from hockey. Rest in Peace Johnny Hockey.

I was born in the Middle East and got the opportunity to live in Calgary at around 2018. I had no idea how hockey was played but I had decided to go to a flames game. I remember that Johnny had scored a goal that day that was insane. The way Johnny played that day made me hooked to the sport and I’ve been a flames fan ever since.

This goal was stellar. I think what really hurts is that everyone knows Johnny was a class act. No arrogance, no showboating. Some fans in Calgary said nasty things when he left for Columbus, that happens when a great player leaves, be it for money or location. But rarely did anyone ever say he was a jerk or whatever. And if they did, you knew the problem was the fan, not the player.
The post a few minutes ago is right, this is one of the worst days in the history of the sport. And if there is any truth to the rumor it was a drunk driver, my sadness is overtaken by anger.

Oettinger with a 0.952. Markstrom a 0.945. The goaltenders were both absolute walls.
