@@TheMariemarie16 She said in the video she doesn't work. She lives in the Philippines where jobs are not always as easy to find as in the USA and even the jobs that are available are very low paying. Plus she has (had) two elderly parents and a 12 year old son she has been taking care of. Him giving her money won't help her find a job, and she still has her dad and son that need at least some care from her. It's not like she can afford a caretaker while she is working. Maybe if her son was a little older he could look after himself and her dad, but that isn't the case right now. I feel for her, she is in a rough situation.
@@Curious_KJ Yes I understand the nature of getting a job in the Philippines but her parents were mostly self sufficient as far as staying home by themselves during the day. They weren't infirm, just poor and older as far as I could tell. Her son is 12. Many people go to work with much younger children. I don't want to judge her not knowing the intimate specifics of her reasons and work history but I would do almost anything other than literally selling my body on the street rather than life destitute without working and if it meant my child not dying of starvation then I would even remove that final barrier in order to get money. Everyone is different so I dunno. It depends what you are willing to do but there are some jobs in the Philippines.
it may seem so but the reality is in some countries its extremely difficult to find work. She said she was working before the pandemic. Sometimes people wait years before landing a simple job
@@kevoncox Exactly. For people outside America, it's a huge culture shock when they find out that Americans with little to no credentials can get at least a job in retail. It's the opposite in the Philippines. You need at least a high school diploma or finished sophomore year in college to get a low paying job in a fastfood joint or in the mall. If all else fails, you use your connections.
Much cheaper to simply rent a simple apartment in Phillipines which can be as cheap as $200/month rather than try to re-build a slum apartment. Surely David can afford $200/month for simple apartment.
I'm impressed with the translator listening and translating simultaneously into English and ASL. Doing this and being around a couple for hours a day would be interesting, as she gets to try to help them navigate the communication barriers. Having a translator creates a different dynamic then using a translating device; it's interesting. Of course, things get lost in translation either way
I’m not sure where she has gotten money for her and her family to survive if she wasn’t working. Hopefully she can find a job. I was wondering who was going to pay for the funeral? David is a big guy and went up the steps and so did TLC. TLC needs to step in and help. David and Sheila both get paid to be on this show. I really don’t think that house is worth fixing. Sheila has skills on the phone and a lot of customer service representatives are from that area now. I talked to one young lady, and could hear a rooster in the background.
Yeah Unfortunately Only the American Person gets paid, But Of Course if they are a good decent person no matter what happens they Should Share it with the Foreign person
I'm a Filipino so I know this. Basing on the coffin of Sheila's mother looks like it was provided by the government. In the Philippines very low income families are illegible to seek help in their local government if they can not afford funeral expenses, government may supply them with very cheap coffin, like what Sheila's mom is in. Then we have a concept of "bayanihan" this means in the neighborhood your live in people start fundraising to help out neighbors in time of needs. Like unexpected funeral service. Relatives and family also send money to help out for the rest of funeral expenses, sometimes gambling is promoted during the funeral vigil to raise fund for the family.

This is such a hard conversation with so many emotions through the screen. I really can feel Sheila is embarrassed to ask for help and has a lot of pride. David is also very hesitant to help, perhaps due to his own finance limitation or doubts about Sheila. This is just tough and I feel their rs won’t survive cos Shiela may really need someone who can help more.
It’s different when you WANT money vs NEEDING money. She’s at a low point in her life right now and she’s hoping he will be a rock for her. She just better remember and appreciate his sacrifices he’s making for her and not leave him later on.
Sheila just assumed that David would financially assist with home repairs. At the beginning, I didn't think she saw anything, but love for David; now, I'm not so sure. She's making him feel obligated to help her. I'm not understanding why she can't get a job. Any job will do for now.
Yes, this is shocking. Who searches for a womb with extreme poverty and doesn’t provide her necessities? David needs to find someone else. He isn’t an asset even for her basic needs, shelter.
@@PurposelyObtuse That's not his responsibility. She's no asset to him either. She has a child to provide for; why isn't she working, instead of looking for a man to take care of her? Considering tlc were likely the ones who weakened the stairs more with their weight they should be paying for it. Her mom just died , so it's not her being lazy and why she is upset . There are little nuances that the interpreter missed, and while I know it would have been way harder without her .. I do think it's important to not skip over, or add your own words, to some of the things that are being said. I wish them luck!
In countries like Philippines, there are more job seekers than jobs available. That's why many who have jobs are underemployed. For instance, to be a cashier in a clothing store, one has to be an accountant. Those bank tellers are also either Certified Public Accountant or at least accounting graduates. Cashiers and sales ladies in malls have to be college graduates too. Most jobs have age requirement of late 20s or early 30s because they consider that people at this age range are less likely to get sick and miss work. Many companies also prefer hiring singles without kids because of lesser likelihood again to miss work when child gets sick or other stuff. It's very competitive and has fewer opportunities, unlike here in the U.S. where there are job opportunities for anyone.
After listening to the sign language translator, I'm lost for words. She bumbled what was really said, and also i blame TLC for what looks like it sounds like a poor attempt at an edit to give viewers the wrong impression of them.
After he and the heavy film crew walked up and down the stairs, the staircase loosened and the mother is now deceased. The least he can do is help her fix the home. She had a job before they kept large giant corporations and str1p clu bs open but wouldn't allow any one else to work. She should find a non dusty and get provided for. Her life hasn't been easy at all.
She knew from the beginning of their friendship/relationship that when he saw the condition of her house; he would offer to fix it for them. He didn't... so now she's asking him.
I think TLC should help fix her situation, they most likely will be a couple on the next season. If not it's just nice to be nice. A little help can go a long way.ijs❤
I think Sheila and David are perfect, it's just a bad situation that she has no money, and he has not enough to help, especially when he saw the house in such a disray she went she would, she really needs a go fund me play to help her because he can't do it all. Himself I'm sure he would if he could.
Literally just asked for money and then says “I don’t want his money”….🤨 but she does and when he brought up the topic of her getting a job so she can contribute THEN she doesn’t wanna talk about it 😂. Seems legit 😂😂😂
I genuinely think that if the situation didn't take place as it did, she wouldn't really be asking this of him. She didn't come across as a gold digger, she just really genuinely needed help financially to make sure another similar accident doesn't take place. I'm sure if she was only doing it for the money then she would've already been asking/demanding it of him prior to meeting him. David seems like a really level headed and kind guy and I'm sure he's smart enough to see which is which.
Genuine intentions or not, it doesn’t make David a bad person if he were to turn her down in money. David may or may not have the money. For the sake of continuing the relationship, he doesn’t have to give money to “keep” her love and respect.
He suggests : “ I am working two jobs now and paying all I can . Maybe you can get a job and help me “ She dismisses him with “ we can discuss that later “ Sits on other side of the table not close to him at all :(
i cant stand when translators dont translate and seem to just interpret their understanding of what is being said.. if you are going to translate then translate or these shows should at least provide a translator that actually translates word for word but i guess if they did that then the issues that arise from miscommunication issues would cause them drama points 🤔
I feel like women looking for financial security is not gold digging, gold digging is when the girl is planning to get the money and leave, financial security means she just wants a man who can provide for a family and isn’t that the ultimate goal
I hope I’m wrong, my concern is the interpreter. She’s not really interpreting what Sheila is trying to tell David. It lacks the genuine emotion coming from Sheila that if David doesn’t have the money it’s ok and that she doesn’t want to force it. Sheila should find a male interpreter. I have a feeling that the interpreter is falling for David 😢.
I don't think the interpreter is falling for him, I just think She doesn't know ASL as Well as She Says or Should and I Agree a Male and One that Knows ASL to a Tee would Be 💯 Percent better
She may seem genuine, but they always have an agenda. She definitely needs some money from him. Its not his responsibility to fix her house. Not at all.
The classic line "I don't want your money". However she keeps crying about how desperately needs money. That is asking and wanting money. He's going to give you money because he feels bad for you. She definitely does want him for money.
Why was she on a dating site for deaf Americans? She isn't deaf, doesn't know anyone thats deaf, and doesn't know sign language??? What does she see in him?

She's not after his money she wants now to fix the house cause her mother got killed walking down stairs and it collapsed the stairs ,she want it safe now for her sin and father
It would be understandable if she has no money because she lives in poverty and is asking her boyfriend to help out. But when a woman asks for money because she says she has no job but then is not so willing to look for work and chip in the near future, then that’s a red flag. Then she’s not poor because of unfortunate circumstances, but merely a choice to be that way… definitely not so innocent at that point.
she can't get a job? what were she doing before she met him? or while speakin to each other, how did she afford a phone and internet cnx and clothes nd that straight her even I can't afford a hairstraightener 😅!! frankly i doubt the fact he didn't send her money.. she genuine? i don't think so..
She seems like she can only get at best a minimum wage job. She doesn’t seem to have a college degree based on her poor English. I doubt that the money she’ll make from getting a job will do any significant repairs for the house. She can probably just buy a few supplies like wood after all the other living expenses. I think that’s why she’s like NVM because he doesn’t seem to understand how little her income, if she gets one can actually do. It’s probably hard for her to explain all this without causing misunderstanding and conflict. Many of the houses in slums are just made of scrap materials the residents find precisely because it is even difficult for those people even to buy enough food. Also, unfortunately, it’s very common to be paid less than minimum wage in the Philippines if you don’t have a college degree. She can just get around 88USD to 176USD a month. 176USD a month is already really pushing it. That’s only if she gets really lucky 😭 it’s even possible to get much less than 88USD a month 😢 while I sympathize with David, it seems like he didn’t learn much about her background.

Right? Translator being so catty to early and bragging about how it took her 2 months to learn asl. Interprets what Sheila says poorly by twisting the message to make shiela look bad. I'm not happy with the interpreter and feel bad that shiela has to deal with being around this interpreter on top of her mom's death.
Don't be because he's not afraid to ask you for a**
😂
She’s definitely using him for money she’s living in extreme poverty and does need help. But she also seems like someone who would appreciate it and actually try to build a solid relationship.
TLC is making millions off this show, they can’t help her build a home for Pennies there? Please this is straight up exploitation and free labor.
The translator is not translating right
TLC gotta do a fund raising for Sheila so we can help her as we can

Oh she does not work? I did not know this. What has been her reason for not working? Is it confirmed that Sheila does not work?
It seems to me like she doesnt want to work
it may seem so but the reality is in some countries its extremely difficult to find work. She said she was working before the pandemic. Sometimes people wait years before landing a simple job
@@tamramkhel4806 People think everywhere is like America. That's why all the Americans are shocked when they see how others live.

She needs to date older guys. Young men don't help.
Yeah but her father needs a place also when she leaves. That's probably the reason she wants the home fixed.
$200 a month? costs more than that to park my car

I'm impressed with the translator listening and translating simultaneously into English and ASL. Doing this and being around a couple for hours a day would be interesting, as she gets to try to help them navigate the communication barriers. Having a translator creates a different dynamic then using a translating device; it's interesting.
Of course, things get lost in translation either way
Hhai no🤦🏽♂️, the interpreter seems to be making things worse with her somewhat inaccurate translation, both ways.

Dave was sending her money
I also believe they broke that house with those heavy cameras!

Girl! Stop! He had enough money to drag his ass over there! And I bet he ain’t embarrassed to ask for some 🐱!!! Deaf OR NOT! A man is a man! And closed mouths don’t get fed!!! Your 🐱is sacred, money comes and goes honey!
This translator can be corrupt. She's not translating exactly what David says or asks sometimes.
Why dont they just text each other if she doesnt speak deaf people language? They can both write.
It's the 3rd world. Jobs are usually handed via recommendation especially meanial jobs.
She's irresponsible! That house has been dilapidated for many years; her mother's accident isn't anyone's fault, but their own. Anyone could have fallen, including her son.
i actually like this couple and i hope they make it
They need a male interpreter. The one they have now is twisting the words. I don’t trust her.
Sheila really needs to work, David is not stupid at all. My god, she does not have a job, and she cannot have time to learn his language to save some money on the translator?, she is not taking care of David's money
Considering tlc were likely the ones who weakened the stairs more with their weight they should be paying for it. Her mom just died , so it's not her being lazy and why she is upset . If some fat people broke your stairs killing your mom and did not offer to pay and were filming this and not paying you , sure you would be ticked off too. People are sure fast to call her a golddigger but look past this explotive crap coming from America. Should watch the Cost of Fashion.
The translator is leaving some details out !! Shiela seems to be too embarrassed to meet David’s eyes when she asked for the money !!
There are little nuances that the interpreter missed, and while I know it would have been way harder without her .. I do think it's important to not skip over, or add your own words, to some of the things that are being said. I wish them luck!
Why then did u sleep with her if u have your doubts? Now shè needs your help sir, fix 1 room at a time.
Camera crew shud help her after her mum pass n they all up in there with the cameras yooo
If he has 2 jobs, then she should get 1 🤨
I agree! Does anybody know why she doesn't have a job? I'm just curious.
He is such a good caring understanding man
So is she getting a job after he sends her the money to help her?? She didn’t answer that lol
Why no help that women?? Is just 1000 us dollars
What money? He said he got no money.
After listening to the sign language translator, I'm lost for words. She bumbled what was really said, and also i blame TLC for what looks like it sounds like a poor attempt at an edit to give viewers the wrong impression of them.
It would be nice if Sheila would try signing along with the translator to help her learn.
Sheila needs to make efforts to contribute also. David is willing to help, so she needs to be willing to do her part as well.
After he and the heavy film crew walked up and down the stairs, the staircase loosened and the mother is now deceased. The least he can do is help her fix the home.
Action speak louder than words .. you look very disappointed bcoz he cant afford ...
I hate when people tell me they got no job but are sitting in front of me sipping a beer. 🤣 jaja bro
👏👏👏👏👏 Amen
I genuinely think that if the situation didn't take place as it did, she wouldn't really be asking this of him. She didn't come across as a gold digger, she just really genuinely needed help financially to make sure another similar accident doesn't take place. I'm sure if she was only doing it for the money then she would've already been asking/demanding it of him prior to meeting him. David seems like a really level headed and kind guy and I'm sure he's smart enough to see which is which.
Genuine intentions or not, it doesn’t make David a bad person if he were to turn her down in money. David may or may not have the money. For the sake of continuing the relationship, he doesn’t have to give money to “keep” her love and respect.

i cant stand when translators dont translate and seem to just interpret their understanding of what is being said.. if you are going to translate then translate or these shows should at least provide a translator that actually translates word for word but i guess if they did that then the issues that arise from miscommunication issues would cause them drama points 🤔
I feel like women looking for financial security is not gold digging, gold digging is when the girl is planning to get the money and leave, financial security means she just wants a man who can provide for a family and isn’t that the ultimate goal

It would be understandable if she has no money because she lives in poverty and is asking her boyfriend to help out. But when a woman asks for money because she says she has no job but then is not so willing to look for work and chip in the near future, then that’s a red flag.

That's kinda how marriage works anywhere imo. Idk why some men think they can separate a woman from her family. In marriage, two families become one for better or worse.
