I stopped watching ALL hunting related TV shows 25 years ago, came across THP in 2018 you guys have changed the content of what and how hunting is captured on video. As a result, I have changed the way I hunt. Thanks for the education you are providing . Congratulations to you and wish you all the success you achieve.
I haven't been hunting sense my hunting buddy died over 12 years ago and that was My Dad I have missed him tremendously and the going hunting with him ! I just started watching THP and love watching it ! It brings back memories of my Dad and I hunting Thank you so much for all your great videos!
As a dad who is trying to get my three sons into hunting I know if I were to die I would want them to hunt without me get out there and kill a monster for your dad 😊.
Get back out there man! I lost my beat friend and hunting partner 11 years ago. I find him in my heart when I'm sitting in the woods and it is comforting. Get back out there, you will see what I mean. Check out his last buck. I filmed it.. The Medusa buck on youtube. 24 point

I remember stumbling on this channel in 2018 and thought I'd give it a go and now I can't bring myself to miss a episode! I'm hooked. Your turkey tour videos really helped me harvest my first two turkeys.
MSU, TXAM, and Auburn University are the top whitetail deer researching schools in the south, imo. They do so much for all wildlife and marine life and really get no recognition. Thanks for showcasing 1 of them, maybe this will make people donate some funds to help their studies
I am so thankful to have found your TH-cam channel. Many hours have been spent watching and learning. After many years of not being in the woods it is great to get back. Your content is helping me be more successful and to enjoy the woods to the max. I have gone back and watched a large portion of your videos and look forward to new ones yet to come!
To Arron and the whole THP team… this is truly next level that you all are sharing with us. From the heavier arrows, why FOC matters, and now this… you are hitting all the subjects that matter. I’ve been a subscriber since early 2018 and love that you show it all, good shots, bad shots, getting busted, the distance you sometimes have to go to get a buck. THP is one of my top channels. Congrats on the success, you all deserve it.
I found this fascinating! I have hunted over 50 years and firmly believed deer went nocturnal AND would go to low pressure areas. But I hope I never get too old to learn more. Excellent video!
So glad you guys took the plunge from Midwest whitetail to do this channel. It has educated me beyond my belief and greatly Improved my success. Thank you for all you have done. Keep all the great content coming!
The bedding sites and daily movements overlaid with wind direction would give the entire picture! And likely explain the need for deer to have multiple bedding areas! Love this series!
Glad that you guys are so willing to help educate others. I think every time I watch one of your videos, something new pops out! Hope you hit the 500k soon and keep on producing such great stuff. Best part is that your videos are not getting interrupted by a bunch of ads telling you that you have to have this to be successful! Thanks again!
This video, and the one before, are such incredible informative videos. I appreciate what you guys do for all of us who love hunting just as much as you do.
After watching THP I stopped watching all other hunting videos. You guys are simply the best and most authentic brand out there not to mention a treasure trove of information. Congrats on your hard earned success
Love your videos fellas. I've been watching since the beginning. Part of what makes it great is not just the hunting but the off season education that you give us.
I truly love this type of videos. I learn so much from them. I hope more videos like this keep coming. Thank y’all for all you do to keep us informed. God Blessed y’all and be safe and careful out there.
Another awesome video with solid information. Thanks a bunch for what you do and keeping it for us common people who cannot afford the big dollar stuff and who love to hunt.
I have truly enjoyed following you guys! Thanks for all the tips along the way. I no longer look to my satellite provider for hunting shows. I come straight to youtube and watch THP. Keep it up!
Nocturnal bucks don’t exist I understand that now however they do change and become nocturnal in a certain area because they’re moving because of pressure. I have many bucks that are photogenic daylight hours on food plots and other areas and that changes once the hunting season starts and they only move in there after dark. The key that I have realized is I have to move into the timber to the small staging areas where the bucks are moving and eating bc they don’t feel comfortable in the well used feeding areas during day light. Great video guys and it just confirmed my experience. Keep up the great content
I'm loving the scientific data and how you're relating it what you see in the field . Keep up the good work . I need all the education you have to offer.
Great information to digest, and chew on later..lol I've seen bucks that move and feed at night, but the same bucks move and feed during the day too. The hunting pressure makes them move in a smaller pattern I've noticed, through trailcams and scouting. They're still there and huntable, usually takes a bit more work. Love ya'll and what you're doing ❤️
You guys are awesome ! It’s cool you guys are not scared to do things outside your bubbles. As a kid I listened to the pros who claimed to be the best and I’m not saying any names but they were wrong about most everything they said. It’s refreshing to see guys doing it right . Keep it up guys !!
Great content! As it has been said, THP has the best, most informative, most enjoyable hunting videos out...EVER! I like Aaron's addition, "in general" like they say they are all individuals there are exceptions to the rule. Great info to take to the woods for sure! Keep it up!
Love this! In NW Florida a lot of the Wildlife Management Areas sell the pines to lumber companies. So when the re-plant they plant pine rows, once the trees get mature there is zero sunlight hitting the ground. We refer to these as Pine Desert’s. With no undergrowth these are non hunt areas and you only get occasional transient deer. Great video and very informative - keep it up guys. You produce exceptional content.
What I didn't get chosen for the prize????? Laughing...... Seems like some folks have nothing better to do than pray on people and pretend to be someone their not. We been getting these notices for a while now from you guys channel and Dan's also along with other popular hunting groups. Maybe they just want to fit in with the cool crowd. Anyway you guys all made a big move from back in the day and you guys got to where your at from getting away from the past practices you basically were told what to promote etc and you made it a real world no BS kinda channel and that's obviously what we like along with so much Intel so you guys did this on your own, we just came along for the ride. You guys and gals have a rock solid inseparable group of down to earth folks and that's something they can't take away from you I think. Congrats THP and cheers to another 5 years and another 500k subscribers.
I caught on to the MSU videos awhile ago it’s pretty crazy how what we think and what we want it the “ best Scenario” and it’s really opposite..and I want to thank thp a lot you guys have given me more confidence to push harder on public I gave up for a while lol but couple years of watching you guys really gave me good info to get back in there..keep great videos comming! Gotta get you guys to 1mil
I watched a video that was put out on TH-cam in April of 2012 by the National Deer Association. That study was about deer movement during different moon phases. They discovered that deer are “Perpuscular”, meaning they move mostly at dawn & dusk. The moon phases didn’t effect them like we mostly think. It was a pretty interesting video.
That's funny, how come there are so many deer hit on the roadways right around the full moon ? I drive a truck thu the mountains in Tennessee, North and South Carolina and always see more deer dead and alive.
@@stevecooper8121 so I guess you did your own scientific study to come to that conclusion? I just gave an example of a study put out and I also gave the time line and institute that did it. The only time that I have first hand experienced the moon effecting the deer is they move more at moon rise and moon set. An older hunter told me that and proved it to me. So, do you’re own research and come to your own conclusions.
Got to start somewhere!I’m a small you-tuber and my channel has hunting , fishing and family outdoors and it’s tough and people don’t really know all the work that goes into it behind the scenes. I’ve really enjoyed watching your videos and I have learned and took your advice and I believe it has made me a better hunter. Keep up the great work👊 Congrats on your TH-cam success!
Loved this one guys. Learned something again, too. Got turned on to you guys about Jan. 22, and love what you guys do. Kinda get to live a dream of mine, through you guys. Learned so much about turkeys from you all, just started on all your alls past deer videos, lol. I'll get em all watched shortly. Love what your doing and looking forwards to your next video, brothers. Murdock out, lol.
I have never assumed that deer were nocturnal. I have seen too many moving around periodically throughout the day all during the season. They may not move far, and most people I know hunt a box stand on a green patch, which can certainly make you think they are nocturnal.
Another good video. I think that when people say that a buck is nocturnal it doesn’t necessarily mean that the deer is truly 100% nocturnal. However, before they shed their velvet I would say that the distance traveled during daylight hours outside of the “core” bedding areas is significantly higher than mid-October in most areas of the country: certainly in Maine. So unless you’re able to set up right on top of bedding which can be incredibly risky it can be an extreme challenge to catch these bucks on their feet during daylight hours in all of the places that you would typically see them during daylight hours just a few weeks before. There’s definitely a switch in most deer after the velvet is shed and the hormones change that affects their behaviors and movement tendencies. That was one part of the video that I wish that the MSU guys kind of touched on a bit more from a hunting standpoint. Sure, they may be on their feet during daylight in tight to the bedding cover but that doesn’t mean that they’re a very “killable” buck. You’re just not going to see them as often in that “stretch of woods” between their destination food source and the security of their bedding cover like you could’ve a few weeks earlier. I think that’s where the term “nocturnal” stems from and is more of what people are saying when they are referring to nocturnal deer behavior.
You guys inspire me. Even at my age I'm trying new things after watching you. Though my family freaks out seeing me hanging off the side of a tree shooting my bow.
So glad I found this video. I have been telling my buddies for years that the "nocturnal" thing was BS. You always hear "he went nocturnal", just because the buck only shows up on trail cam before daylight and just after sunset. I have always said there is no way a mature buck just lays in a hole and waits for dark. I always strongly believed that the bucks were moving in broad daylight all the time, they just did it in thicker cover.
You guys are great, I love the content and the quality of every video you guys have put on TH-cam, I gain a ton of knowledge from y’all about deer and deer habitat, thank you so much for sharing these videos.
Down to earth and honest and letting us know that it's possible to hunt like you guys hunt I'm 70 I have never seen a tribe like you have hunt as hard as you guys do I'm hunting for quite a while I still hunt even started saddle hunting or at least I'm trying it had a bunch of issues the last couple years but I'm still trying and you guys give me a lot of inspiration and everybody else in my family too hope to see more of it keep at it guys God bless
I was literally living in Chicago broke couldn’t hunt didn’t even have a bow at the time I found the video titled teds Missouri buck I was blown away. Quickly binged watched everything I could and was ready for the next season killed an absolute stud on Illinois public super close to Chicago using the same tactics y’all showed me that’s no BS.
Great shows about the science of deer behavior. Thank you. Would love to see a show about the validity of deer hunting tools such as scent elimination sprays and ozone, hecs, attractants, camo clothes, grunt calls, rattling, etc.
I backed off, years ago, using trail cams on our private land. I would get a good picture of a mature buck in daylight , then never see him again. I thought he went nocturnal. Wrong. Smart, older bucks do not like cameras, and learn to avoid that area, like a permanent tree stand. Great video
My big bucks on my hunting lease go nocturnal within just a few days after archery 🏹 season starts in September. After that if you see them only if they are chasing does. Every large buck I’ve been fortunate to harvest came in minutes before dark.
Screening cover can be found when the snow is melting in March. I have 1 public spot that borders a huge cattail swamp. On the edge is a small meadow which is a couple of hundred yards long. On the opposite side of that meadow is a thin 🌳 line with grass & a swamp mix. That side gets the movement in the evening & the other side next to the swamp gets used as a return route early in the morning since it doesn't have the cover. A particular buck survived last year. He could be pretty wide & typical this year. His evening route to get to acorns in the early fall u could in March see nearly every step he took. I've totally stayed out of his sanctuary far the the west & the thickest area for an ambush is around 100 yards from the start of the oaks. In that area he goes through an area of small softwoods. W/o exposing himself he has a large blown over oak for cover as he exits the softwoods. As soon as he gets past that oak there is a corridor of thick trees to his right & willow brush to the side of the large marsh. B4 that there isnt a screen of willow brush next to the marsh. I have 1 spot setup there where he walks through a narrow area. A little closer to the oaks i have another spot for a different wind. History has told me that mid September might be the best time to be there cuz a 9 day shotgun season opens just b4 the rut last year. I'm patient but the doe cross a hiking trail which alerts hunters. My video 🌳 camera had 4 doe & 6 fawns on it last year. The many doe in the area bed closer to the acorns on a different travel route going north to south. They bed inside a swamp with tall grass & a few 🌳 for shade. This might be the best example I've found in 30 years of a buck scent checking doe in late October.
That’s funny that after you put out the statement about the contest scam, I received a reply to contact a number. This has never happened. Thanks for putting that out there.
Comment on deer spending time in beds. Here in Pa. I have a place where I can easily observe a small hollow where deer frequently bed during heavy snow. My record is a doe who NEVER left her bed for FIVE days! Snow was approximately 18 inches deep and I could walk up to about 25 meters of her. No tracks in snow and one sunny day as I approached she calmly stood up and walked away. No injuries; no blood or hair in bed.
Two years ago I witness a deer eating mushrooms, it knocked a bunch over and ate the stems. I have always wonder why it did that. I noticed all around the area I hunt, that season, those particular mushrooms did not grow last year. It's one thing for them to eat winter wheat that planted in the fall, and acorns dropping in the fall, just found it odd for them to eat mushrooms. I should note that these deer are not around ag fields, these deer live in a mountain range and are truly wild. I agree on the nocturnal, it's another excuse for guys to not go out and be smarter then the deer. Awesome vid, love learning in the off season.
Have loved and watched all your videos since 2017 when you guys began If quite a bit of your merge as well and always support your channel keep up the great videos guys

Owe a lot of my recent success to you guys. I can’t thank you enough!
Good information. Thanks for the awesome content.
That was one of the more informative vids i've seen in a while!! Awesome details!! thank you!
Man this is great info! Thanks to all for doing this.
Learn so much from this channel
I backed off, years ago, using trail cams on our private land. I would get a good picture of a mature buck in daylight , then never see him again. I thought he went nocturnal. Wrong. Smart, older bucks do not like cameras, and learn to avoid that area, like a permanent tree stand. Great video
The new cameras are better. I noticed the same several years ago. Those older cameras, feeders, big blinds, etc would all spook the big deer.
My big bucks on my hunting lease go nocturnal within just a few days after archery 🏹 season starts in September. After that if you see them only if they are chasing does. Every large buck I’ve been fortunate to harvest came in minutes before dark.
Learn something new every video you guys put out. Great content while we are waiting for the season.
Didn't start watching ya'll till 2020. I went back at watched all your videos.
AWESOME Gents!! II believe your philosephy is it's all about knowing the terrain and how to hunt it. Great learning video.
Got to love the science behind hunting! Awesome content guys.
Come on deer season. You guys are awesome one of the better group of guys. Loving this info
Excellent info guys . another trick learned .burnt into my brain .keep them videos coming
Outstanding information , thank you THP!
I love that I get to watch this podcast. Great stuff!
Excellent scientific information that is easily understood by hunters without a PHD. Thanks
Good info with those guys. I could spend days going over the collar data. Rabbits are not a fan of control burns over and over.
Great content to help evolve our concepts and strategies with hunting whitetails. Keep it coming.
