CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The tension between Lady Torrance (Anna Magnani) and Val (Marlon Brando) reaches a boiling point.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Fugitive Kind began life as Battle of Angels, a never-produced 1939 play by a young Tennessee Williams. Nearly 20 years later, Williams refined this rough-hewn theatrical effort into Orpheus Descending, which enjoyed a respectable Broadway run. The renamed film version stars Marlon Brando as Valentine "Snakeskin" Xavier, a trouble-prone drifter who wanders into a deliciously Williamsesque Mississippi town. Here he becomes involved in the problems of alcoholic Carole Cutrere (Joanne Woodward) and unhappily married Lady Torrence (Anna Magnani) and also runs afoul of Torrence's vicious husband (Victor Jory). Sexual symbolism abounds in this tempestuous drama, which offers Brando at his most inscrutable and Magnani at her earthiest. Maureen Stapleton, in real life one of Brando's best friends and severest critics, plays an avant-garde artist.

What a powerful scene acted by two icons of the movies......beautifly acted, a slice of Americana, humanity.
I think it's the worst film Brando was ever in.
The character played by Joanne Woodward significantly harmed this picture; to this day do not understand the rhyme and reason of her role.
He was so handsome
SERIOUSLY the HANDSOMEST! 😏🔥🥵😳😱😍 ESPECIALLY in A Streetcar 🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵 I fell HARD for him in that one he was soo UNBELIEVEABLY and HEARTSTOPPINGLY GORGEOUS 😍🔥🥵😍🔥🥵 also I LUV your pf pic 😳🔥😏
Totally
This scene is a ART
Yes because you could see one way and I could see it another. But it seemed to me this lady hadn't been touched in years. Or she had a life of heartbreak or loneliness & she needed someone who wouldnt be so easy to drive away when she pushed them to go because he bitterness/ coldness
The 2 most powerful actors ever
Anna Magnani was unequivocally the best motion picture actress of all time. There is no match. None. Pure. Amazing. Beautiful. Raw. Real. Natural.
Marlon Brando. There are no words. There will never be another. When he showed up in New York, people stood catatonic with no words in tow. When he showed up in Hollywood, the method in which he delivered, I mean….. it leaves me speechless to this very moment. His movements, his words, the way he did everything….. wow oh woh oh wow.
I saw this movie on The Late Show many years ago. I am now 71 and the story and performances of this two icons always haunts my memories.
I showed this movie to Friends in my home last night and we all had a blast; the greatest of STARS.
Blew us away; this by far is my favorite Brando film!
Incredible ! Two emotional geniuses on screen .
Magnani did not accept her Oscar for "The Rose Tattoo" in person, but Brando accepted for her from Manila; he had won the previous year for "On The Waterfront".
1:04 the look
Two great actors at the height of their powers: who says MB didnt care about acting: He cared alot: So did Maganie!
She is in her 50s here btw. Captivating woman.
I'm in my 50's.
@@bluezodiac6329 because we know her date of birth. How do you think?
@@bluezodiac6329Her Birthday
This year on April 3rd, Marlon will have been born 100 years ago.
“When he died, all other actors got to move up one.” (Nicholson)
Magnani earlier wouldn't do "The Rose Tattoo" onstage (although friend Tennessee Williams wrote it with her in mind) because she didn't feel her English was good enough. Fortunately, she got over that hangup.
In questo film Pelle di Serpente, Anna Magnani e Marlon Brando, sono straordinari!!
Brilliant acting do double duty on me marlon what a man
Actors today can’t touch this. So wonderful.
Williams' great fault as a dramatist is that he tends to go over the top, which he does in the ending here. But the two stars are great together.
Brando, bello e maestoso come sempre, alcune sue performance sono da antologia del cinema! Pure la Magnani (quasi bella) e molto brava,a recitare in inglese!
I would appreciate that
she cared for me and wanted me to stay.
Some of the best scenes in movie history feature women in slips.
Great acting by two power houses. Now I get it why Brando was afraid to be opposite Magnani. He would say that in one breath, she would eat me up. She's so fiery that sometimes the great Brando seems tame in front of her in the movie. Such real, raw, deep performances!!
Just a bit of power generated here.
I don't quite understand Brando's character's anger here. It isn't like he could actually be forced into that 'arrangement' so couldn't he tactfully ignore her advances if it came to that? Or was there an implication that he would lose his job if he did not agree to be her bit of action on the side?
Per fortuna i tempi so cambiati ! Oh my !
Bravissimi entrambi 👏🏻❤️
