  • These commercials aired on Comedy Central on June 2nd, 1995
    1. "Mystery Science Theater 3000" Commercial Bumper
    2. Coca Cola
    3. Promo for "Sit-com Stand-up Marathon"
    4. "Mystery Science Theater 3000" Commercial Bumper (The episode "Racket Girls" can be seen here: • MST3K 616 Racket Girls )
    5. Promo for "Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist"
    6. Sprint (With Candace Bergen)
    7. Sheik Condoms
    8. Drano Professional Strength Build-Up Remover
    9. Mimi's International Cafe (I love posting local commercials like this. Unfortunately this restaurant appears to now be a Verizon store)
    10. Santa Ynez Indian Casino
    11. Comedy Central Station ID
    12. "Mystery Science Theater 3000" Commercial Bumper
    13. Promo for "NBA Saturday Night" (With Anthony Bonner of the New York Knicks)
    14. Jenny Craig
    15. Coca Cola
    16. Starburst
    17. McDonald's Superhero Burger (Featuring "Batman Forever". Much of the reason why "Batman Forever" was so toned-down compared to "Batman Returns" was due to McDonald's complaining about having a Happy Meal tie-in for such a violent movie)
    18. "Street Fighter" on VHS (Fun as a guilty pleasure I guess and contains Raul Julia's final film performance with his classic "But for me, it was Tuesday" line... • Bison remembers Tuesday ...but the "Mortal Kombat" film adaptation from '95 is SO much better and actually kind of transcends the genre of "mindless video game adaptation")
    19. Spartan School of Aeronautics (6:27 I like that the official seal of the school is a black cat with the number 13 painted on it, which ties into their motto: "Knowledge and Skill Overcome Superstition and Luck". That is badass)
    20. Comedy Central Station ID
    21. DeVry
    22. Weed Terminator (Followed by Weed Terminator 2: Judgment Day)
    23. Guitar Today VHS
    24. T.L.C. Trees (Ok, now teach us how you trim your goatee)
    25. "Mystery Science Theater 3000" Commercial Bumper (When it comes to MST3K I am a HUGE fan of the Joel era but I do also enjoy many of the early Mike episodes before the show left Comedy Central...but I remember this being one of the worst episodes. Season 6 in general is full of some really terrible movies that are painful to watch…even by typical MST3K standards. Anyone who has seen “The Beast of Yucca Flats” knows what I’m talking about)
    26. Promo for "Absolutely Fabulous"
    27. Promo for "Absolutely Fabulous"
    28. Fruitopia
    29. Heath Sensations
    30. Promo for "AMC Saturday Classics" (Remember when “American Movie Classics” actually showed classic movies?)
    31. Off! Citronella Candles (My mom used to use these while camping back then...I can still smell them in my mind. But studies have shown that Citronella Candles do not actually work as a mosquito repellent and are no more effective than regular candles: www.science.or...)
    32. Burger King Whopper Jr. Value Meal
    33. Comedy Central Station ID
    34. "Mystery Science Theater 3000" Commercial Bumper
    35. Coming Up Next...
    36. Downy (*Detergent Bottles do not actually talk)
    37. ITT Technical Institute
    38. Creative Stereo & Video
    39. Toyota Of Santa Barbara
    40. "Mystery Science Theater 3000" Commercial Bumper
    41. Coming Up Next...
    42. Powerade
    43. M&M's (With Bebe Neuwirth)
    44. AT&T True Savings (With David Schwimmer)
    45. Cox Cable

The MST3K theme in the bumpers is an instant nostalgia button. Never fails.
That ITT Tech commercial felt inescapable in the 90s.
TV and movies in the 90s is why I've always like russell terriers. It seemed like if a TV show or movie needed a friendly dog, it was going to be a terrier (usually jack russell) or golden lab.

1995 with the Comedy Central commercials? This was the time period when the main specialty networks like Comedy Central, Sci-Fi and Cartoon Network were worth watching.

You have got to be kidding me with the Sheik commercial lol. I would 100% think it's an over the top parody made recently if I saw it anywhere else. Love it. Lots of amazing commercials this volume. Insert obligatory "for me it was Tuesday" joke here.

5:42 - This line was thrown in literally to be used in McDonald’s commercials.

Seeing commercials from three weeks before I was born is... an experience.

    2. Coca Cola- I remember seeing the Sun drink a bottle of Coca Cola in commercials like this one and always wondered if the Sun can drink liquids like that, wouldn’t it evaporate immediately inside of him, due to the temperature being well over 1,000 degrees inside of him?
Guitar Today VHS- Learning to play guitar just by watching a VHS seems like a neat idea, but I’m not sure how effective it would be if you get stuck learning a technique and there’s nobody you can ask for help.
Fruitopia- Watching the kaleidoscope style designs in this commercial makes it one of the most artistic commercials I’ve ever seen.

I don’t think there is a piece of music I have heard more times than the MST3K bumper music

I was in my early teens. In 95. Minus the local commercials.I remember every one of those commercials. Fan of MST3K as well.

ITT Tech got a lot of mileage out of their commercials during this period (many of which went back to the late 1980s and would be shown into the 2000s).

I've seen that commercial before, a man with intense uncontrolled anger screams raging outbursts about Sheik condoms. I wonder why they made that a commercial.

Last time I saw that was in the 90s when I was a teenager. I remember thinking "Is this what adults think we're like?" As if we're gonna identify with condom rage because we're rebellious? I didn't realize how weird & over the top it was until seeing it today.

01:21 This dude ranting against condoms for the oddest of reasons!! Especially in the era where sex was on everyone’s mind. There’s a reason we also call the 90’s The Naughties.

I was late on the MST3K fan train as I didn't get Comedy Central or Sci Fi on cable until they were in season 8-9 of the series so I got a lot of catching up to do, I haven't even seen #616 yet! I do enjoy other season 6 episodes such as The Sword & The Dragon, Red Zone Cuba and San Francisco International!

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

"The Sword and the Dragon" is good and reminiscent of the other Russo/Finnish fantasy films they showed in the Joel era such as "The Day The Earth Froze" (aka "Sampo") and "The Magic Voyage of Sinbad" (aka "Sadko").
The bad movies I'm thinking of are ones like "The Skydivers", "The Starfighters" and the aforementioned "The Beast of Yucca Flats".

man I heard stories about behind the scenes on Street Fighter... pretty sure there's been videos on here about how all that went down. but yeah Julia's performance definitely made that movie worth it as a so-bad-its-good film!

Of all the life-changing moments that one remembers from formative years the whole Opal Fruits/ Starburst renaming fiasco is one of those that will haunt me until my dying day. They contain no solar effluent but do indeed taste like fruit! Don't even get me STARTED on the whole Marathon/ Snickers debacle. Things were never the same after that. Literally, the newsagent would frown at me say, "Do you mean Starburst young boy with a sweet tooth and money burning a hole in his pocket?"

Sheik Condoms-he might be the last person expected to have been given one
Mimi's International Cafe -this seemed like a nice place..if it had still been around Guy Fieri wouldve probably featured it on Diners Drive-Ins & Dives
Santa Ynez Indian Casino-wonder who won that"sassy"red Toyota
Street Fighter-"Quick,change the channel!!!" Wouldve loved seeing Dhalsim and Blanka take part in the fight scenes..this film would also serve as the basis for the USA Network animated series, which had a Mission Impossible-feel to it
    AMC Saturday Classics-before they became the"Walking Dead"Network

Still dont know why AMC never became what it was supposed to be.
I remember a year wear we got the Three Stooges marathon for weeks but then it was canned and never felt like AMC ever again, it was just a channel with The Walking Dead episode Reruns and it sucked

Racket Girls is definitely one of the worst movies shown on MST3k. There’s “so bad it’s good” and there’s “not even MST3k can save this, bad.” The latter category applies here for sure. It’s one of the few that I couldn’t even get through.

Weird seeing the early M&Ms characters before they got their iconic voices and looks.
Also, was the guy at 3:21 supposed to be funny? I honestly can't tell if he was trying to tell jokes or just rambling.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Yes, he was supposed to be funny.
Here you can watch the same comedian Tom Rhodes in a video from 2009 also talking about space and being completely unfunny: th-cam.com/video/ynjqpmKetDI/w-d-xo.html

American Movie Classics- Please, PLEASE, PLEASE, AMC, create a free-to-air digital channel that is nothing but what the AMC cable channel used to be....nothing but classic movies!
Speaking of which: You too, TNT, make an over-the-air broadcast network that is NOTHING like today's TNT cable network, but EXACTLY LIKE TNT in the cable network's first ten years!
