Matt says "Starting small is a good way to achieve that. You can finish a section and then expand, rather than having acres of undeveloped board"

Real Beaty, May I ask, from where did you get the tramway carriages?

Matt replies "They are Corris Railway carriages in original four-wheel condition. They are an etched brass ‘scratch aid’ kit from Worsley Works. www.worsleyworks.co.uk/NG/NG_Corris-Railway.htm Not the easiest to build, particularly for a beginner. The real ones apparently ran badly, so before long were rebuilt with two bodies on an underframe, to give the type that we see today. If you don’t fancy brass and soldering, you can get a similar effect, though longer, if you can find any Lilliput Waldenburgerbahn coaches second hand."

Terrific! I've always liked the idea of an album layout.

Matt replies "Thank you. It’s a good thing for someone like me who is not a prolific layout builder. I like to model real locos and rolling stock but I’m never going to build a layout for every line that I have something from. The key we have found is to ensure most things visible at a time are all from the same line, so no mixing and matching. Well, not usually… "
