  • How I changed the oil and filter on Mitsubishi Colt 1.1i
    - No special tools needed, very easy job.
    - Motoröl und Filterwechsel. Kein Spezialwerkzeug, sehr einfach zu machen.
    - Vymena oleja a filtra. Ziadne specialne naradie, velmi jednoducha praca.

    @REBUILD Lab I'm going to try this on my own Colt, which is a 1.5 turbo (2007)... If you like, I can let you know if it's similar so perhaps in the video description you can include that your method also works for my engine variation too!
    @REBUILD Lab Ok so I did it shortly after I commented. The only major difference is location of the oil filter; your engine has the filter located where it is accessible from the top of the engine - mine was located almost next to the oil plug. Very convenient! I was anxious to do it but your video gave me confidence (even if it was a bit different!), and for that I'm really grateful :)

    I noticed at 9:34, the car does a clicking sound like three or four times when you turn on the ignition. Is this normal? My Colt also does this every time I turn on the ignition, should I be worried and have it checked? Great job on all the Colt videos, they've been helping me tremendously. Keep up the good work!

    Hi, great video. I have a Colt with 1.3 engin. How many liters of oil should I put in the engin?

    • @REBUILDLab
      @REBUILDLab  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, usually those engines require about 4 litres. Just put in three and look at the dipstick, then pour more and keep looking at dipstick until the dipstick shows full. You end up with about 4 litres, if you changes the oil filter.

    Do you any place to buy the sump gasket for this car

    • @REBUILDLab
      @REBUILDLab  ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to either cut one from a gasket material or use a specialised silicone or both. Or go with an OEM part ar your local Mitsu garage.

      A gearbox mount...well that part is normally not available as an aftermarket part. If you really need it, then either direct by Mitsubishi dealer or at scrapyard or from a damaged car smowhere on the web. Good luck

      Well, the digit before W stands for the suitability of the oil for the winter conditions. The lower it is, the more watery the oil is, the sooner it starts to lubricate the engine at cold start at very low temps. The digit after the W is for the hot side, for summer, the higher, the more heat it withstand without loosing its lubricating qualities. This is only for your rough orientation. Do not use too watery oil, just stick to what the manufacturer prescribes, because otherwise you can experience a high oil consumption. This 1.1i Colt at highways at rpms near 5000 consumes ridiculously high amounts of oil and it is not even 0W. So one must frequently look, if some oil is stil in the engine to avoid its seizure. Take care.

    • @REBUILDLab
      @REBUILDLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi it is 5W30. Personally I think if you use 10W40, it should be perfectly fine, just make sure you use full synthetic and change at least every 15000 km or 1 year.

    • @REBUILDLab
      @REBUILDLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick Fanny, it should be the same. The difference is, that 1.3 is a 4 cylinder engine. But anyway I must say, that I did'nt saw the 1.3 one. If you can access the oil filter, than you can do it just like in the video.

    The jack stand is not correctly installed- the car is still resting on the jack and not the jack stand! It is dangerous to go under the car with the car resting on the jack only.

    • @REBUILDLab
      @REBUILDLab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, that is correct, it rests on the jack, but the jack is an old one and looses pressure quickly, so in a couple of minutes it was resting on the jack stand. Anyway you're right, it should be as you wrote.
