For anyone wondering, the capsule shuffle always gives back capsules in turn order, starting from whoever landed on the space. For example, at 12:23, there are 2 capsules in the shuffle and Emile landed on the space, so he was guaranteed one and so was Jon. If there were three, the third would go to Wario, and so on. The specific capsule they get is the random part.
At the end, Emile was slightly off. Tim would never say "Here, CHUGGA, take my controller." Something I've noticed is how Tim never addresses the others by name. Like, he'd never say, "Jon, what were you thinking?" and instead might say something like, "What the heck was that?" My guess is that it's related to anxiety over getting their names wrong, which I can understand, since I have a bit of that, too. Also, it's the Good, the Bad, and the Monkey at 9:54
It's more like Jon and Emile are the middle and youngest children who are only 2 years apart, meanwhile Tim is the oldest who was born 5+ years prior and therefore has no stakes in the sibling rivalry.
Honestly despite half of the minigames being quite bad and uninspired, the other half are really cool. I think I'm enjoying this more than Mario Party 4. As you said the boards in 4 were not great as they all felt similar with a path floating above the scenery.

Here's a smart use for piranha plant capsule- use on yourself when you have the coin star and someone is about to switch coins with you with a capsule. That way, you can keep your coin star lead for awhile. Though, the person would still have to be willing to switch coins when the person they swapped with lost a ton.

This is looking to be a very competetive board so far. Tim and Jon seem to be competing for first, though Emile at least has the coin star lead so far. Also, I'd have to say Mario Party 5 is my favorite of the Gamecube Mario Parties and my third favorite over all. I think this is the first one that really tried to spice things up with new gameplay mechanics and board designs. Plus, it offers a lot to do besides party mode.
Two meme resurgences (of sorts) in this one and they barely notice. First is "could be good, or it could be bad" which only NCS caught, and then Chugga makes his meowing noise during the penguin game.
