- South Africa prepares for its most important elections since the ANC took power in 1994. Markets are on edge, weighing the potential of a major shift in power dynamics, but coalition building could help ease concerns and settle the rand, which has been the worst performing major currency since Cyril Ramaphosa became president. Bloomberg looks ahead to the May 29th election with political commentator and Bloomberg Opinion columnist Justice Malala, and Citi Managing Director and South Africa Economist, Gina Schoeman.

It's confirmed!! South African's National IQ test will be written on 29 May.
Are you aware IQ test prove nothing? How do you compare two people who are not educated the same and don’t have the same opportunity or exposed to few things and yet you claim this small test reveal the intelligence of people.
good one hehe
Haha very true
Why would we want policy to stay the same. Also. Nothing gets done as it is! They must go
The ANC has made a lot of mistakes but will still win as they have also done a lot of improvements for the long suffering black south Africans. The rural masses and low income South Africans appreciate those effort. The youth are ever impatient naturally but platforms like this ignore how our people appreciate every good change after apartheid. It's almost as if people are supposed to develop insomnia yet my engagement with low income people has revealed they appreciate the difficulties faced. Most hide their awareness of existing racism with smiles of unawareness but when speaking to them in our language in private reveal their awareness and the fact that the colour attitude. Our people know peace stability comes with compromise and resilience. This country is no island. The EFF has some correct messages some have said but needs to learn that global markets still have a lot of impact
*Holy shit Ramaphosa what a corrupt and thieve he is how the living hell can he be permitted to do these things and to get away with it ( Ramaphosa and ANC must be voted out of parliament please take EFF with you*
Keep the commies out! ANC/EFF/MK!
Put the free market parties in! DA/RISE MZANSI/ACTIONSA/UIM/BOSA/FF+
More than ever South African blacks long for the old bantustands so that our kings can rule is not this mess
@@DumaM-ir7rk that system can work very well and could be developed again and made better! I do worry about property rights in that system though.
If each and every tribe determine its future using culture and laws that are suitable for each tribe that will be better. Now teibes that are different are forced to loose mother tongue because of this unity
Ntando campaigning for the ANC
😂
What legacy did Mandela left?
Corruption, lies and division
*leave
A new zimbabwe
The intro was drammatic if we being honest.
Thats the true narrative on the ground nothing dramatic unless your in the thumamins camp?
The decimation of South Africa is unbelievable. What has happened since Mandela has been so awful. The economy destroyed. Communism growing, lack innovation, job creation and poverty.
What communism cause we got a puppet Capitality President
The south africa we live is quite perfect even with its flaws..we surviving.
So sad when these western countries live in fear of Russia,China,North Korea threaten the existence.
Quite dramatic and divorced from the reality on the ground. South Africa didn't collapse but rather stagnate. We are sorting out our inequality and social cohesion first. I quite like living here and wouldn't want to live anywhere else even though I have the privilege of that choice.
Indeed.
It is disingenuous to refer to the effects of the ANC's moral degeneration as 'Mandela's legacy' .
Communist ideologies are indeed popular here.
South africa is the next america, we have the capacity, confidence and courage...my money is on the millions in the black middle class
There is no longer a middle class.
Not with so much rampant corruption that steals hundreds of Billions a month from public funds
Zimbabwe is very different from America 👀
100% the next America the most stupid people ruling the country
I heard nothing about blatant Corruption. You forgot to mention that about the ANC
If he's not doing a good job fired him period, vote him out, they need someone who's going to put the people first, not their bank account 🙄. Praying for South Africa 🙏.
The "act" is out in the open. The "emperor" wears no clothes and the world has noted
People will say ANC will lose its majority in parliament , they forgot that ANC is not a darling of media in SA, ANC presence in the black community is felt everywhere
Thanks
Statistics on the impact of ANC policy and implementation over 30 years should be compared from the start of the period, not movements in the past month or year in isolation. The specialists commentators appear disingenuous and uninformed.
We are now in the second month without loadshedding
1994 was the best now corrupt
I guess it was better before 1994
Ask the people of south africa that
Administratively, YES, it was much better.
It’s a complex issue. Certain things definitely were better, mainly service delivery and the economy. However those benefits are lost on the fact that such a large proportion of the population was marginalised and the economy was built on inequality that still exists today. Apartheid was a failure and so is the current era. When you really take a close look at SA’s entire history, it was always a country set up for failure.
Cape Town was nice visited last month for 2 weeks stayed in camps Bay Area great beaches. Didnt notice any blackouts
Guess not.
Electrification:
1987: 30%
2023: over 94%
Labour dependency ratio:
1994: 380
2019: 251
For every shack built post 94, 10 formal houses have been built.
In 1998: 340 people dependent on every nurse.
In 2019: 194 people dependent on every nurse.
In 1991: 44 white engineering graduates for every ONE black one. Today there are twice as many black engineering graduates as white ones (white number having grown too.)
In 1990 HALF the urban population was in slum.
In 2019 it's down to 20% of the urban population(despite massive urbanization and mass-migration over the last 30 years.)
In 2023 8% of the country's OVERALL population (both internal & foreign migrants) lived in informal shack dwellings.
In 2001 18% of the SA population was in multi-dimensional poverty.
In 2019 6% were multi-dimensionally poor.

For more than10 years now this Mr Malala has never had anything good to say about the EFF😂😂😂What a biased opinion
The new rhodesia , or, should i say, the marvellous first world zimbabwe 🤡
Lol ANC 40% maybe on one of the moons of jupiter, not on earth, not in South Africa. Does this poll include the grannies in the townships? Younger people just dont care about politics but are into music and entrepreneurship.
It’s funny when people that never go to the townships speak as if they know the people there. It’s like those white folk that really think all black South Africans will go ape shit when ANC loses power after 29 May. Have a look at multiple videos on the EFF manifesto launch and see how little that crowd is. A lot of people in townships worked for their respective municipalities, those jobs are gone. Do you think they don’t see who is responsible for their empty fridges? Stop looking at black folk as monkeys. No ANC will rule with outright majority after this year. I know this cause I see it when I go to “townships”. Start seeing “South Africa”, not “those South Africans” and “these South Africans”.
Tata EFF Tata ❤
Fear mongers won't sway us. The markets will adjust.
Where's the school? Even just one brick? EFF should actually stand for FIGHTING to FREE us of any ECONOMY
I am stupid and I will remain poor
@@starkmad5351 he/she probably didn’t even register to vote. Do worry about people like this.
FYI, I am registered to vote.
I'm a business owner with 4 employees in my small business.
I am far from poor Chief.
I see beyond the horizon. I'm an eagle, not a chicken looking, at the food beneath its beak.
@@koketsokhwani9137 So, why not answer my question? Where's the one school that was promised years ago?
Twak praaters.
