The Doors channel is the official TH-cam home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them. - เพลง
It's kind of strange how this song never gets old.
Well it is a over 53 years old
yess, always sounds as hauntingly beautiful as the first time I heard it!
Good songs never gets old.
😎
When Jim told the other bandmates to start writing songs, Jim said just write about something that will last for time, not trendy things.(This is according to Robbie). Robbie thought about it, & came up with "Light My Fire"!!! So trendy themes are out. This song, & most of other "Doors" songs, are proving the test of time, as you said.
They stand the test of time like was said because like true art it lives forever
I love the story behind this song. Jim came to Robby and John one day and was very depressed. They told him to take a nice walk up to the top of the hill over looking LA. He came back an hour later with the whole song written on a piece of paper. It’s safe to say that Jim was a lyrical genius, and should not only be remembered as lead frontman of The Doors, but a brilliant poet as well.
But Robbie wrote their two biggest hits (Light My Fire and Touch Me)....both hit number 1 on Billboard
@@sidcostello7532 the popularity of the song isn't really a measurement of how good the lyrics are
I Always Thought He Was
@@sidcostello7532 yes he did, but if you remember, Jim wrote the verse “the time to hesitate is through. No time to wallow in the mire...” and Robby originally wrote touch me as “C’mon cmon c’mon now hit me babe, but Jim changed it to touch me babe
Eric Berryman
You are correct. They both needed "tweaking".
I'm 70 and I now realize that I grew up in a most magical time for music. It was nothing but Cream, The Doors and Zeppelin. How lucky can a guy get?
Hey brother you left out quite a few groups, our generation cant be compared, we were BLESSED!!!! nothing can come near
Right on to that
You guys also had other legends such as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Black Sabbath, Elvis Presley, the Bee Gees, David Bowie, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, and many others
A lot of people in these comments, myself included, are very jealous of your generation and the music and culture you enjoyed. Just glad we can all enjoy it together these many years later
@@fabianugalde3789 And : Jimi, Aretha, the Supremes, the Temptations, Otis, Marvin Gaye, the Byrds, the Yardbirds, the Airplane, the Youngbloods, Country Joe, Buffalo Springfield, Dylan, Joni, Dave Van Ronk, Mississipi John Hurt, Miles, Coltrane, Procul Harum, John Mayall, Blind Faith Traffic, Paul Butterfield, the Dead....Spirit, Love....all within the span of a very few years.
This song sounds so modern!! It’s so crazy it came out in 1967!!
Partly because everything today is so unoriginal. It is a masterpiece.
Spell check
It doesn't sound modern at all. Modern would be almost copy pasting a generic melody and rhythm and adding bland party culture clubbing soulless lyrics.
One of the greatest songs of all time
Echo and the bunnymen covered this and I think the doors keyboard played on it
Bro, I fucking love it cause it's sooo great and such an amazing song. I'll always be ina terrific mood and I'll be in a better place in my heart. BUT I'll always have such sadness for his death. I hate that he's in the 27 club. Like for real right it's such a terrible problem and situation does that haveta happen and it's a fucking bitch but we're born to die. Unfortunately we're all in this together and it's a good thing cause we only havea short amount of time but we don't know when or how we'll die. We can chose everything else in life besides that and that's just such bonkers like for real.
One of 1234567890 best songs ever.❤❤❤
Had to get my records (vinyl to youngsters) after hearing this.
All time is a long way away 😅
Robby Krieger really is one of the most under appreciated guitarists of all time
He's been doing live streams and tutorials all summer. How amazing is that. Nothing but love for him
Robby and john are terribly underrated musicians. Wouldnt be the doors without them though

When you're a stranger

Thats what men think..
Women seem wicked when your unwanted
@@reeshs9296 You wouldn’t know unless you walked a man’s shoes, and vice versa, so let’s not start a war in these comments, miss.
@@reeshs9296I must admit you have a point but in the wrong way I am not wanted and the only women I find friends in are strange women and often find other women to be rather wicked despite my lack of any sort of attraction to them
@Andy.G8 she is right and not trying to start a war. When women make it clear they don't want a man, not all but a majority start calling us all sorts of names, starting rumors, acting like complete assholes because they can't handle rejection.
Women experience this all over the world daily. We have groups about it to warn each other of the unhinged.
When the guitar opens up on the last chorus and carries beautifully the end of the song... it is my one of my favorite moment of any rock song ever.
I can't echo enough the impact your music has had throughout my life. But I thank you Robbie, Ray, John and Jim from the bottom of my heart. Still riding the wave. Love and blessings always from Fiona Morrison, Manchester England 💙💚💜

I find it mad how a song with one verse repeated four times sounds so good.
Can listen to it over and over. Words are great. Melody is phenomenal. You never forget it.
Krieger is hands down one of the most Underated Best Guitarists ever. He's such a unique player and he's build up his own Sound..
I agree with you 100% great guitarist.
And, most of all, the didn't overdue. No egomaniac soloplaying showing off. Apart from, as the exeception, Spanish Caravan where it's appropriate..

Me, my grandfather and grandmother was sitting in their living room with an old TV. It was december 1967. I was 7 years old - not too old, but not too young to appreciate good music. Suddenly I was mesmerized as this song came on TV and I watched the doors doing a magic performance on an urban square. Morrison dangling, his hair swaying in the wind. On the spot I decides to let my hair grow, to want a leather jacket and to save my money for Doors LP's. Within a year from that night with my Grandparent I owned both 'The Doors', 'Strange Days' and 'Waiting for the Sun'. Ever so often I scrutinized the cover of Strange Days to find hidden details. Only now the cover reveals itself :-).
Anyway, thanks for that moment in time that not only send me in orbit around The Doors, but also freezes a long lost moment in time with my grandparents..... I wonder what they were thinking.... they were born in the 1880'es....
Wow, in the 1880's ?! That's pretty impressive to me, I was born in early 00's, so thinking that I was born 120 years after your grandparents but we both listened to this song ... I think that's quite crazy !!
Your grandparents were either in their 80s or approaching their 80s. My God! 👀
What a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing.
@@thema1998 My Grandmother was 82 i 1967. She outlived Jim Morrison by 4 years - she died in 1975. Lovely old lady. No problem what so ever, that I had long hair.
That is just mind boggling that someone who lived a year after the light bulb was invented, could have also played video games...
