I have said it since 2017, Honda have the best sounding engines in F1 at the minute, Mercedes second. Force India sounded amazing last year (It was slightly different to the racing team Mercedes as engine layout was different) - I also found a video from 2016 Spanish GP in Practice, teams were running with turbo wastegates open, this made the sound sooo much better, on ALL engines, though they close them in qualifying/race, I can't remember why, I dont think it gains or loses time so they just keep them shut.
Just to be checking, you do know why we didn't see much of Sainz, right? I just watched the last 30 minutes or so, paying attention to the timing on the left. Most of Carlos's overtakes were done while Max was chasing Vettel and Bottas. Sure we would've liked replays during the race, though.
Circuit Paul Ricard much better in this configuration compared to last weekend. Thanks for fixing vid title. Awesome track action! Hope to see Sainz' fight back into the points.
@@Clangokkuner Since there are rules about the use of either technology, I have to agree with your assessment. However, I don't remember the Honda engine sounding like that during the failed McLaren/Honda years or during last year with ToroRosso. Red Bull still has Adrian Newey in their employ, and maybe they have found something. There is no denying that this combo will have an advantage on certain tracks.
Techii96 yeah Kimi would’ve been run off to if he didn’t back off. Kimi saw the line disappearing and backed out since he was on the outside. That’s what experience gets you. It’s so obvious, Charles was just desperate to hold the lead sense his tire were falling off. Best bet for him was go for the “I got ran off give him a penalty tactic of today.
@Andrew Leaberry that’s bs. He did the exact same thing as the lap before and thought that pushing another driver off the track (with contact) was not allowed. Norris thought the same as his team radio shows. If Leclerc kept to the inside, Verstappen would have passed him easily with the better traction. The outside line would’ve worked better for Leclerc, if Verstappen gave him the room. The stewards decided that doesn’t have to, so everybody can adjust their defensive driving to that.
Lap 14, Norris overtake. Exactly the line Verstappen used to overtake Leclerc. Only difference is Kimi is man enough to back out of that corner and give up.
Kimi is too far back, probably surprised by Norris. Leclerc planned his move. If you watch the front tyres, you can see that they’re exactly side-by-side until the contact that throws Leclerc into the air. The reason why Leclerc offered the inside is seen on the lap before, where he uses the superior traction in the outside to outdrive Verstappen. The other reason is that he thought, pushing another driver off the track like that (or like Hockenheim 2016) is illegal. The stewards decided it’s not. Lando Norris‘ team Radio shows that Leclerc wasn’t alone with his opinion. In my opinion giving up and deciding not to race is not exactly what I would call "man enough". Fight for the lead, all or nothing should be the mantra.
