Just decided to learn this tune before band practise tonight waiting for the boys to show up, this is a dope cover man. Loved it! Similar setup to mine, love the 4 piece. You got some sick chops
i was learning this song man and i got about half way and then i injuired my left arm, so now i can't drum for another week. ive been watching covers including yours to pass the time. nice job man. im 13 and ive been playing for a little over 2 years now and i know that learning tool songs will make me a better drummer.
I know this was forever ago, but this is really good! You have a really great, natural relaxed feel at the kit, but it doesn't affect the intensity with which you play, which is pretty awesome. Dig the stick flips in the beginning, too. Couple of spots where you kinda rushed through 32nd fills and it kinda look liked the cymbal hit caught you off guard with your sticking, but there's no way that's a problem now. This is ace, dude. Great job!
Hey man I just wanted to say I love the way you have your kit set up, its just like my dream set up.... and you did an excellent job with this cover. I even sang along lol.
@Omegafall LOL, I know, just teasing a bit...But you ahve to admit. Throughout the industry, those two I mentioned are the first that come to main stream drummers minds when you say "master"!
Wow Dean... You took my advice and tried a song by the master himself ;) Bold i must say, and i was a bit sceptic before i saw the cover. Anyone who dares to try any of Danny Careys stuff REALLY has to be motivated and focused. You really did a great job Dean, and i thank you for doing something of Careys. Prolly your best cover to date imho Colo :)
awesome feel, so good its hard to find something wrong. But im toolhead and very nit picky :) The hi hat hits in the chorus change slightly every other measure, if you listen real carefully. Cymbal dynamics were amazing, loved the energy they brought at just the right times in the song. Killed it
nice playing dude i cant say anything against except that im missing some right cymbal parts in the B-part hes not playing only eights but some sixteens at the end of each part as well but really that was the only thing i wouldnt even complain but notice! cheers =)
I can tell ya man, Vicarious was the first TOOL song i really sat down and tried to learn. I watched a ton of drum covers to try and figure out certain parts, and eventually was able to play it pretty well. Parabola was next and then Stinkfist, and i dare not even attempt AEnema. Stinkfist is the most fun, its pretty straight forward compared to alot of his other songs, except the poly-rythm in the middle. You did well man! a nice break from the poorly recorded crap you usually find on youtube
@jimmymac63 Even though both of their drummers are excellent, Carey's got a very different sound/style to his drumming. It's wildly unique and certainly difficult to replicate. Point being, you didn't have to be in the band 30+ years ago to be amazing.
Tight as hell! Great cover! I'm a beginner in Tool songs, i just covered my first Danny Carey song "Schism". I think this is a next song :) I'm kinda low on views and comments, if you have time can you watch my cover?
You hit as hard as me when I play, glad to see someone with the same energy. Great cover man
Bryce Kusnierz
Whenever I am starting to hit as hard as he does it gets way more difficult to stay perfectly on time. Same for you?
That final chorus I think makes everyone hit star power on every drum cover I've seen, good job dude :)
the sound quality is amazing and the drums and cymbals sound amazing! kudos to you friend.

@Omegafall LOL, I know, just teasing a bit...But you ahve to admit. Throughout the industry, those two I mentioned are the first that come to main stream drummers minds when you say "master"!

So apparantly 15 people don't know great drumming when they hear it... well done man, brilliant cover! =)

Colo :)
Sweet! I'm a guitarist that dabbles with drums, now I have a better understanding of what's going on back there during a tool song.
yeah bro! good cover!
@catchsu11 Actually its an older snare I made about an yr ago.
ahhh WHY ARE YOU SOO GOOD
awesome feel, so good its hard to find something wrong.
But im toolhead and very nit picky :)
The hi hat hits in the chorus change slightly every other measure, if you listen real carefully.
Cymbal dynamics were amazing, loved the energy they brought at just the right times in the song.
Killed it

What are those cymbals? Such a tasty sound!
Great cover!
How do u transcribe that fill at 1:48? Can seem to get it right?
Takes a brave man to play Tool on a 4 piece. Props to you man
That’s great. 🎉❤
Those cymbals....!
nice playing dude i cant say anything against except that im missing some right cymbal parts in the B-part hes not playing only eights but some sixteens at the end of each part as well but really that was the only thing i wouldnt even complain but notice!
cheers =)
You have to generate power from elbows down and wrists not arm movement which messes the timing. Our guy does that so well.
nice!
hey man where can i find the drumless track for this?
I can tell ya man, Vicarious was the first TOOL song i really sat down and tried to learn. I watched a ton of drum covers to try and figure out certain parts, and eventually was able to play it pretty well. Parabola was next and then Stinkfist, and i dare not even attempt AEnema. i have a question my cousin gave me a 5 piece peavey drum set i just wanna know if peavey makes good or bad drum sets?
sweet kit man. i play metal and i dont want a big doubble bass kit i think its much cooler with a smaller kit great cover man ;)
@Colosseus The master? This does not sound like a Rush or Dream Theater song!
badass
Fuckin awesome job man!
Can?t you see he?s the man,
Let me hear you applaud,
He is more than a man
He's a shiny golden god.
Dude your awesome Nice job!!!!!!

F*ckin sweet.
I'm a drummer and you killed it
1:15-1:17,WTF!!That's like the ONLY part of the song i get lost on.AWSOME JOB MAN.
You are sick man! You hit like Danny does ;). Just sad that you had to interpretate some parts where pads came in
two words........FUCKIN AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@jimmymac63 Even though both of their drummers are excellent, Carey's got a very different sound/style to his drumming. It's wildly unique and certainly difficult to replicate. Point being, you didn't have to be in the band 30+ years ago to be amazing.
Hell yea ...well done man Danny's work is not at all easy to play.
SUPER LEGIT
1:05 missed the hi-hat , haha ;)
1:05
Perfecto!! O.O! D:
At the end of this all I said was...Fuck yeah.(with a flat face)
I didnt like this at first....but damn dude. You entered my "hero" category.
Can't go wrong with Evans EC2's
So... you play... DRUMS very... good.
Great cover you are much more fun to watch than a stiff, emotionless player. And you hit hard as fuck i'm surprised those heads hold up lol.
naw you hit it right on the symbol... good job
probably TRX BRT or something
oh yea....oh yea....
You should get more toms
Tight as hell! Great cover! I'm a beginner in Tool songs, i just covered my first Danny Carey song "Schism". I think this is a next song :) I'm kinda low on views and comments, if you have time can you watch my cover?
Danny Carey would be proud
Ahh, he had to slow it down a bit
Lol
*cover
Those poor cymbals! But great cover!
wish you coulda played the correct parts...
Bad cover
It's cool to hit hard... when you could actually play in time. This is too sloppy from the start.
Sorry man, Ill try and do better next time
Sick
Lol
