Die richtige Antwort eines Hockeyspielers hätte lauten müssen:
      Was fühlen Sie gerade ?
Ich denke, es gibt nicht genug Bier auf dieser Welt um das zu feiern !!

Funny that no-one noticed the foul before the goal (German player runs around the back of the net then comes back on to score the deflection) - should have been blown or referred and no goal.

Well maybe no players (given you guys never read the rules!) but any half awake umpire should be aware of it

Gobtik so you sat in front of the TV and immediately said "that was no goal!" ?

Personally no as I didn't watch it (was travelling home as we'd been to the games the day before to see England women win Bronze) but I know umpires on hockey forums who immediately flagged it up.
A coach should also have asked for a referral if they had been aware.
I admit it's one of the lesser known rules but an umpire at the Olympic final should be the best in the world and not make a fundamental technical mistake

In fact here you go, hockey forum post from the DAY of the final immediately discussing the rule

This is why one should not get too much into pro sports ( apart from rampant P - E - D usage ) , at the end the margins are so slim , only a few mistakes and umpires/refs "decide" who will win gold (and the trophy) at the end.
And i have seen across all team sports , atrocious officiating.
Maybe Volleyball is now free of it because of replay and because both teams are separated.
But Football , Basketball , Handball , Futsal , Field Hockey , Ice Hockey , Rugby - i have witnessed too much dodgy officiating over the years at highest levels.
      World Cups , Olympics.
      It cheapens these events.
On the plus side, few people really care about Field Hockey anyway , and also since 2012 the Germans haven't reached another Gold medal match , so maybe they are now "cursed" just like England for close to 60 years now in Football after their infamous 1966 final Wembley Goal.
