This is a very concise, honest description from somebody on the player's side. I'd love to honestly hear a few pros sit down with Heinold, Spring, etc and just hash this out. If everybody can get on the same side of the table, that will be the best thing for the sport

All the viewers keep demanding more , more and we want it for free. The tour is trying to give it to them. The question is should the tour stay at what they can afford. Or should they spend what they don't have. Disc golf doesn't generate all this money they ate a underground sport. I find it interesting to see how it all plays out into the future

It’s been very clear for years that the DGPT was poorly managed and a bad organization. Looking forward to it collapsing and a new ownership group taking over.
The PDGA, along with the DGPT, IS DESTROYING OUR SPORT! Contracts continue to be excessive and payouts ridiculously low! Spectators deserve to watch intense competition, which cannot happen unless players have huge money on the line. Contacts should cover expenses. Also the idea of “stamps on discs” is part of merchandising and should fall on individual players. Disc manufacturers must guarantee consistency in their products, no matter the cost.
Hey Drew! One question, not every tournament is being run by the DGPT but independent TDs+others (e.g. DGLO vs Des Moines), no? So it the DGPT or "independent" tournaments that have been late paying out, or both?
Drew, go to a college near you. Ask marketing and business students to do a case study on the marketing and production value of DGPT events. those students will LAUGH at how pathetic the effort is and the glaring obvious reasons the tour makes no money.
Can't belive this actually is a discussion. I understand that discgolf as a sport is growing, and maybe some parts of the organizations is having some problems with this growth. But when a tournament is on it's way, the prizemoney should already be in a reserve and ready to go out. Do that as a buisness to your employees and you would soon end up with no one working for you. And hey, maybe that's what this sports need - a new and better management and "pro tour".
Is it a late fee or is it a discount for paying early? If the deadline is say Jan1 and they discount it for paying by Dec 15th what’s the issue? Theres two different ways to look at it. If I pay entries for a fishing tournament early they discount it as well. It’s not out of the ordinary
I’ve never played a tournament not get paid immediately after. If a TD ever tried to pull that in ME chances are they’d be promoted to pushing up daises
2:49 - could it be clarified what "late" is in your commentary? If it is late compared to contractual terms I could see an issue but if it's late to expectations I'm not sure how you'd call that out legally with standing. If you're not also requiring the DGPT to pay by certain times in contract then I don't see how players will have standing.
Which event(s) delayed payments over 4 weeks? You said, in some cases, payouts weren't received for sometimes months after the conclusion of the event? Those events need to be called out too. Imo
I love your videos like this. One thing I still don't really understand though is the Tour card thing. Every season I hear people talk about "this person earned their tour card for next season". If it is something that y'all have to pay for, then what is with the having to earn one as well? I thought it was something that allowed y'all to essentially have automatic entry into certain DGPT events, but as of late I'm coming to understand that that's not the case, that y'all still have to pay registration at every event, regardless of having a tour card. What does the card do then exactly? It sounds like a really confusing thing from a spectator/amateur perspective lol. Thanks Drew 😊.
Big question about manufacturers' and other sponsors' responses to the new Go Throw Tour...will manufacturers require players to stay with DGPT and/or not pay them bonuses for winning on the Go Throw Tour??
Why isn't there a competing tour that players can choose to play? That isn't the dgpt. Wouldn't it be fixed and more money be generated for all players and sponsors because there would be more coverage and more reason for people to watch?
I feel like late payments are not just only disrespectful but should be illegal especially if there is a rule of 48 hours. 30,000 coming months later is seemingly worthy enough to sue over. If anything there should be late fees for every week that they aren't paid, maybe 5% increase every week if they did that there would never be any late payments
On a local level, a bad TD will get nobody showing up to their event, eventually. That doesn't mean there are not issues, sometimes. Word gets around, quickly. Players will get rid of a bad TD, or event, by just not showing up. Thats the power of the consumer. Ive been in smaller sports that have the management to get bigger than DG. That tells me that its all in the leadership.

I agree. Late payments are NOT acceptable. It’s a little too early for a players union. Have to look at the Tours books and also the management. Non competes are BS. Luckily the sport is small enough, This should be able to be corrected early.
Both PGA and EPT pays out pricemoney the Wednesday after tournament ends. Every week, every year. Never late payouts. PT discgolf has alot to learn it seems…
Nope. If there is a rule that payments are due in 48 hours, payments better be made in 48 hours or interest will be applied. Rules for thee but not for me is killing the sport.
They should be paying on time but this method of how they're running their business is nothing new to any other individualized sport. It's hard to unionize like major sports teams because the top players don't want to make less all of a sudden especially if the growth isn't actually there. I don't see anything wrong with the DGPT charging those fees, it's usually on the sponsorships that are able to accomodate for most of that. If a tournament is big enough usually the host will pay for certain expenses but disc golf is no where near that big yet to get "professional" treatment. But yes no reason for them not to be paying on time.
You know, it's funny. The sentiment when discussing money for pros is always that they're contractors. Well, I'm a contractor, and if I don't get paid, I will 100% sue you. We all like the grassroots parts of disc golf, but this is not acceptable business practices, and it is how you scare away potential sponsors/partners.
To your point with other channels still harping on about the problems: you say there have been meetings, and things have been remedied, and a lot has been sorted out, but people just don't know. That again speaks of a massive communication problem out to the public. Even to the pro community
How about no payment? Maybe they are trying to keep the tour afloat and mot have to shut down. Not an excuse, but a possible reason. Just saying, use your brain

Drew, thanks for explaining this. I e-mailed someone at the PDGA earlier this year and told them that I took the Rules Official Exam on the PDGA web site, ( open book ) and passed it on my 1st attempt. I wondered what benefits there were to doing that? They told me that even though I am an "amateur"...and did not have an official "player rating" at the time because I had not yet competed in a sanctioned tournament yet ( 2 since then ) that I could compete in a Pro Tour event ( Elite + or Major event tournament ) Even though I did not have a Tour card. Players wanna play fun events. But some of the pro tour events are dull.
So. Choice was take a penality to play golf and have fun. Or waste time on a crap course playing and making no money and not having fun
You're actually being way to nice.
How about no payment? Maybe they are trying to keep the tour afloat and mot have to shut down. Not an excuse, but a possible reason. Just saying, use your brain
DGPT needs new management. This is a joke
Why do you keep referring to your career in a past tense?
1 late payment 1 time period. Not good at all.
You need to start a players union
pros should unionize
So What Are You Going To Do About It? Great to bring things to Light that some of us have know and dealing with for Years.
Look At All The Members PDGA has.
85% of PDGA members have said NO to Men Pretending To Be Women in FPO. No One Cares Drew....
It's bad enough we are Forced To Be Part of The PDGA to compete to Win Any Amount Professionally other than Ctier Payouts.
A lot of Us are on the A&B Tour Sponsored with Entry and a few hundred disc to sell.
You can earn enough money to have fun and Eat....
I think it's Laughable You Guys on DGPT whining like little Girls...
No One Cares Suck It Up Buttercup
Did Freemasons hijack the sport of disc golf. Who and when was the circle 1 extended to 33 ft? That's when it was taken over.
Lets hear from the players ,who havnt been paid, because youd be a complete fool,to continue playing in events, not gettung paid
Mr drew I'm a long time fan and this is criticism you need to hear. You should try to be more dense in your statements. Instead of being direct, you stretch out such little information over long paragraphs.
I met Jeff Spring at Ledgestone and I did not like that Guy. His vibe was not cool
Interest in the sport is dying down. Looking bleak, not gonna lie.
Get rid of nate heinhold, and those other people, like gang would help. Then vote in people you can trust to handle things
Jeff Spring getting paid on time?….
WNBA and Women's soccer have it worse. 😜
UFC fighters with Dana White oiling them up.
I have no idea why don't all the top players get some money together and make the LEAGUE the player way..
Paul McBeth, Ricky Wysocki, Ken Climo, Barry Schultz, Dave Feldberg, Nikko Locastro, Paul Ulibarri, Paige Pierce, Steve Rico, Cale Leiviska, Simon Lizotte, Eagle McMahon, James Conrad, Garrett Gurthie, and Chris Dickerson. Top earners 2022? WHO THE FCK wouldnt sign up for that tournament.. do 1 in the west coast, mid, east. 3 to start. If done right. Profits keep it going forward. Players move over to the NEW league.. gamer over. I could be wrong.
Elon musk this shit. The players would be great and the leadership would always be legends of the game as built by the by laws.
This is a mess
Drew, thanks for explaining this. I e-mailed someone at the PDGA earlier this year and told them that I took the Rules Official Exam on the PDGA web site, ( open book ) and passed it on my 1st attempt. I wondered what benefits there were to doing that? They told me that even though I am an "amateur"...and did not have an official "player rating" at the time because I had not yet competed in a sanctioned tournament yet ( 2 since then ) that I could compete in a Pro Tour event ( Elite + or Major event tournament ) Even though I did not have a Tour card. The person made NO M,ENTION about a tour card or anything else whatsoever. I am not sure who to listen to anymore
I may have to add you to the list: whiners, Brodie, Presnell, Lacastro, Big Jerm, ....
What'd the Prez whine about?
“Goodmorning”
*unsubs*
DGPT blows. They're so poorly run and probably lost a lot of money due to THAT lawsuit. PDGA needs to step back in and run NTs
I DESPISE THESE CLICKBAIT VIDEOS IN DISC GOLF
I've been watching your videos with Simon, but I'm hitting "dont recommend channel" on this crap. Just put the actual issue in the title. Exposed? Are you 13? Cmon now.
Sorry sweetie. Enjoy the world of TH-cam without me. Plenty of videos to watch and be entertained.
13 lol you have a one piece photo.. ironic.. the problem.. its in the mirror, go look at your face.
Your life as an asshole: Don't recommend, click fast
Are you sure your career will continue without his sub?😊
Contractors pay us late all the time
