This video so emotional. I still remember these beautiful folk songs 49 years later. I'm jealous not being there to dance with all my dear Guyanese people. One Love.🇬🇾🇨🇦
I am happy ,,to tears ,, not only to see the President of ALL the PEOPLE of what is now GUYANA ,, but when it was British guiana ,, n before when it was plantations ,, the ancestors whose memories we celebrate today ,, the memory of those who came before the indentured ,, must forever be in our hearts........ May God forever bless us with their blood sweat n............. TEARS ,, which today is our strength, from strength to strength ,, we celebrate their EMANCIPATION
It's so so great to see the President actively participating in the EMANCIPATION ceremony in Hopetown. He is truly one that is down to earth .. a people's person. Way to go, Mr. President.❤❤❤
You know, I watched this video I think the same night it went up. I wouldn’t say that I was surprised but I felt a feeling I have never felt for a long time since I left my beautiful country, running on 40 years. Too entrenched in my “new home”. So badly want to go back to Guyana but age and being away for so long are massive factors I may have to overcome. During this video, I felt pride, exuberance, many feelings. Like some here, I think I had tears in my eyes as well. I think of our Guyanese ancestors from all ethnicities who worked so hard to build our country, struggled all kinds of struggles, and were treated so badly and cruelly. Slavery was an abhorrence to the human race and *** WE SHOULH NEVER LET IT HAPPEN EVER AGAIN*** You know, our country went through turbulent and difficult times but I must say, Guyana is a different country today, more for the good than bad. We, as a people have to overcome much but have no question or doubt, we will. We of different races had and have our differences but we must and shall overcome. Overcome we shall and MUST! The sun shines brightly in and for Guyana. I am so happy and fulfilled when I see so much happiness in people and when they can love and welcome their President this way. Way to go Hopetowners and Guyanese! Your countrymen are proud of you ALL! WE ARE A GREAT AND PROUD PEOPLE!!!! When I heard that song during the photo shoot, I think that’s when tears came to my eyes. My Guyanese spirit came all alive, I can feel my mind and body in sync and I recalled the days as a young man when I danced to that song. Every note struck me. I had not heard that song in 40 years, oh how sweet. Make me long for Guyana like I have for 4 decades. No place like it. Love you all Guyanese! You are and weare a great people and Nation!
Forbes..... was aloof n arrogant ,, n way above being in the midst of any such revelry of the............. PEOPLE ,, even for a cause such as this in memory of his ancestors ,, Irfaan is celebrating two events ,, the Emancipation of the Ancestors ,, n the removal of inhumanity from what is now our land owned by 6 People !
I remember as a young man going to school and history topic was about slavery and slave trade especially concerning the African slavery system and the ill inhumanity was done to African of the Caribbean and around the world IT bring tears to my eyes my heart was sorrow full this was the greatest injustice ever perputrated Against Africans slaves in the world I hope and pray that the European Union countries come to realize injustice inhumane treatment great evil they did to the Africans of the Caribbean I believe Repartition must be given to the Africans slaves of the Caribbean This still affects physiological the people of African Caribbean children until today while The European enriched their own people and countries and are very rich in the wealth of the slave's trade John V Ram God bless our brother and sister as the commorat the Emancipation of slavery shalom
Anyone…please tell me the song at 1:14. Oh my God, I used to know that song as a child and I cannot remember the words or by whom? Thanks. I want to keep this song on my list. Wow! It made me dance, cry, so many emotions of Dear Dear Guyana!
No, he don’t. Stop putting stuff in people’s heads. Nobody is going to harm the president or any politician or official in Guyana. Guyanese people don’t roll like that and it is further thing from Guyanese people’s mind. The day that we have worry about things like that in Guyana will be saddest day for our country.
President ali the greatest dictators Burnham hoyte granger dictatorship regime never did this for afro Guyanese where is norton living a luxurious life style
Nobody can understand or comprehend what you are saying because your sentence doesn’t have commas nor full stops. I would suggest that instead of you making dumb comments, your time would be better spent in evening school, getting an education.
They are not fooling them but fooling them self in the eye of GOD wakeup guyana time to repent and be saved JESUS is coming soon be prepared I pray that he open their eyes and ears to the truth.🇮🇱🇬🇾🌎❤🙏.
@@DaroleoLasdougsWhen my parents left Guyana I was 14. My mother a very proud Hindu and dad a Catholic. Growing up in Kitty with 4 siblings we were taught to respect everybody. Wonderful memories playing with our neighbors kids coming into our yard. I remembered my dad rented a flat to a Chinese family, their daughter could not speak any English. We all helped teaching her English and how to ride a bicycle. Two years before leaving Guyana, Mom sent us with friends and family parents to Mosque, Temples and the Pentecostal church so we would learn to know, for there is only one God, "LOVE". Our world today we have war, climate changes, COVID-19, so many crazy things going on, every country having problems. Guyana is not perfect, lots more work to be done after many years of racial and political division. Why be negative, why not pray for Guyana and the world to live in unite and love. I want the young Guyanese children to move forward in unite, to have hope to live in a much better world and a safer Guyana. My open minded loving parents are gone. So many life lessons they taught us, I think of them daily surrounded with our happy loving crazy United Nation families and friends. An act of kindness doesn't have to be big, every day give a smile, give a hug, tell a joke, say kind words, always see the goodness in others.🙏☮️🕉️
While it looks great to see our young President enjoying himself with the people of Hopetown on the eve of their Emancipation celebration. His government is not truly fair to the people of African descent. His officers love to deal with the gullible people of African descent where they can take advantage of them. My personal experiences justify my comment.
@raphaelmunroe8366 this administration did for afro Guyanese that Burnham hoyte granger dictatorship regime never did afro Guyanese do not want to work they are committing crimes against indo Guyanese go to the jails they are lazy and a opportunist inciting civil unrest racist

Mr president please make Guyana a better one.
Our president alli is a president for all the people
The band song sweet I am lying on my bed and wineing
Lol
Wonderful
And to think the opposition leader refused to shake the man's hand is disgusting. Being a gentleman has nothing to do with party politics
One Guyana
