A section is the smallest sub unit of an infantry battalion and in capable of undertaking independent task it consists of ten persons who are organized in section rifle group as assault group and section lmg group as support group
Deputy commandant post is only in para military forces like BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP etc. Not in Army. I will send you the strength working und Deputy Commandant equivalent to DSP.
The fighting element in a force is the battalion in BSF a Battalion is headed by a COMMANDANT with a total strength of 1000 to 1200 officers and jawans,the battalion is further divided into BNHQ(commandant,2IC,quatermaster,adjudant,medical officer and 1 or 2 more officers stay here along with jawans of support company,adm company and ministerial staff which roughly makes up some 300 men),the battalion is further divided into 7 company each headed by an assistant commandant with 100 to 135 men under his command,each company is further divided into three platoons,each platoon is headed by an SI and have a strength of 30 to 35 men and further each platoon is divided into three sections each section is headed by a havildar with 10 to 11 men. A company is the primary unit in a battalion and is responsible for carrying out all the duties,a company has a company hq where the company commander stays with 35 to 45 men and each company can have 2 to 4 BOPs which are headed by an SI.

In police department or para military forces structure are totally different. You can just understand as the post of Inspector is equivalent to Subedar Major. Inspector has the incharge of one police station Or the incharge of one post in para military forces. According to this lesson he is the incharge of a Platoon.

There are 4 rifle coy, 1 adm coy and 1 support coy in an infantry battalion. There are two JCO and 30 OR in a platoon.
