JD Davis is not a viable option, not a good enough upgrade at any position to make a difference. No viable bat coming off the bench, for the 2nd season in a row. Counting on Rizzo to bounce back after a traumatic brain injury and another year of age, and he certainly has not hit or fielded well. DJ looks awful, although this is his spring training. Stanton had been productive, but very pitchable to, Judge despite his lofty number still has not made the necessary adjustments to permit him to hit anything below his waist. He is on pace to strike out 190 times this season. Stanton is another strike out machine. You can live with some of the sluggers strikeouts because they hit homers at a prolific pace and drive in runs, but they aren't driving in runners, absent the home run, and no one else on the team except Volpe has been a consistent productive hitter. Even Verdugo is up and down, streaky, and certainly not a number 4 hitter. That the Yankees have him batting 4th, tells you plenty about their lineup. The Yankees are top heavy in contractors with Soto, Judge, Stanton, and have attempted to fill in the remaining roster on the cheap, hoping and praying older players will have bounce-back seasons, and that has not happened. The loss of Jason Dominguez was a significant one, because it would have been important to give him playing time to see what we have in him, but like so many other Yankees, he is injured. That Stanton was once again placed on the IL was a foregone conclusion, His lower extremities are oft injured, which predispose them to re-injury. So Cahsman should have obtained a productive bat to cover for Stanton when he inevitably went on the IL, but of course he did not. This is what I would do come the tread deadline. Trade Torres, the Yankees aren't going to re-sign him, he isn't exactly helping in the field or at bat, so his departure would be an addition by subtraction, DFA DJ and Rizzo, and bring in some youth with energy. The Yankees are the slowest running team in all of MLB and lead the league in hitting into double plays, fix that issue with youth and athleticism.

Juan Soto was hitting machine in April to May, now he’s not getting clutch hits and Alex Verdugo as well . Yankees are lucky the Orioles have lost 5 in row, otherwise they will be second place .
