I've been spending the past week getting my VFIO setup how I want it and your guides have been invaluable

Thanks a bunch! The documentation and other tutorials I was following made transferring audio much harder than it should be, and this was GREAT

You are the best. Between you GPU passthrough, looking glass and scream videos. The most helpful!

Thank you so much I have wasted 2 hours at 2 AM trying to fix the crackling in my usb audio device. This is by far the best audio method for windows vm!!!11!

Seriously, thank you for this video. Without you I would never have thought of ensuring my network adapter is bridged to virbr0

Hello Pavol, you're a crack. I waste a lot of time trying to fix the sound in W10. Thank you so much for your help!!!

if you're getting devcon-x64.exe failed while trying to install the drivers, changing the guest date to june 2023 can fix it.

After reboot it doesn't seem to be running (scream nowhere to be found on bootup) and running it manually doesn't seem to work properly - it then shows up but sound is still not passed. I am using Linux Mint.

What kind of network is the VM using? Check whether virbr0 is present on the host.

  • @Mat383

I followed this great guide it didn't work for me. Linux showed network usage coming from my VM and the receiver was running on the host, but I wasn't hearing anything from my VM. I reinstalled Scream like twice and spent several days trying lots of different things and going insane. The last thing I tried was disabling the firewall built into mint. That was it 🤦.
    Thanks for the tutorial!

A remark on the guest side, I found it necessary to go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Scream
    Create key "Options" and within:
add new String called "UnicastIPv4", give it the host address
add new DWORD-32-bit called "UnicastPort" and set it to 4011 Decimal

I'm using Zorin OS. After I ran the script it said: This script does not support your current distribution. Only Ubuntu, PopOS, Manjaro, and Mint are supported!
You can still install Looking Glass manually!

Thanks this works great! However i do t know how to disable secure boot in virt-manager. I’ve temporarily gotten around this by disabling signature verification in windows but it’s affecting my games. How do you disable secure boot in the virt-manager bios?

    • @FireStorm81318
      @FireStorm81318 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

go to Windows settings -> Recovery -> Advanced startup > Restart now
find the option to modify UEFI, then on restart press F10/F2
in the grey-blue configurations screen, go to Device Manager > Secure Boot Configuration -> "Attempt Secure Boot" should be disabled

Spent 2-3 days on this. Scream doesn't want to work on win11, I have got testsigning installed and the driver installed just fine. But it just transmits nothing to my host.. Complete dead end!

No go, from what I've seen so far after reading the driver inf. There is meant to be a SCREAM service running, there absolutely isn't so clearly it can't run on win11.

    • @gerarderloper

GOT it working in end. Had to give up on Windows11, works in Windows 10, also had to set date to 2021 to install this driver or it failed, can set it back afterwards.
I suspect the date and secboot BLOCKED scream from working under Win11, a real shame the developer doesn't update it to work with latest win11, wouldn't take too much, most just re-sign the driver and and make sure the service files load correctly.

Friend, thank you very much for your videos really, but seeing how quickly your VM starts intrigues me, my vm starts almost 50s in starting it takes a long time in the Tianocore logo and after a while it starts Windows, my virtual hdd is raw virtIO on an ssd. looking around there they say that I should compile my kernel with the CONFIG_PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY=y parameters, which makes me afraid of ruining everything, is there any way to do it safely or easier? sorry for so many questions, the post I found is this:

The startup takes longer, I just edited it down to make the video shorter. I don’t know how long it takes exactly, but 50 seconds doesn’t sound too bad. These VMs are pretty light too. There’s just one GPU, Scream and Looking Glass. Compare it to actual bare metal Windows startup, that takes at least 30 seconds too.

    • @PavolElsig

I don't think it was designed to work with microphones. I haven't seen it mentioned in the docs.
