    I've accumulated all my gear over the past 4 months or so. With every other paycheck I would get something new until I had everything (helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, and boots). Taking the MSF course this weekend and I'm super excited! Other than the fact that the low is 32° F 😳

    Practice wet-stopping. Most important to learn the threshold at which the tire loses traction on various types of wet road: Newly wet after a long dry period, wet during cold, mist wet, frost wet (not a good idea to be riding in that situation but...)

    Already have the gear essentials (hi viz ECE-helmet, Hiviz jacket, tcx hero boots, gloves, riding jeans) - that was a priority before getting any bike for sure! And having the new gear first just made me that much more excited to shop around for an affordable used bike.

    Did my “MSF” course this summer. 13 started in the class and 12 graduated. It was a disgrace to the program. I can think of at least five people that didn’t deserve to pass that course and get their endorsement. Even the guy that failed was given a chance to retest (still failed miserably). Getting your endorsement does NOT make you an expert. I was proficient, and I immediately started practicing in parking lots. I think it should be a little harder to get your endorsement, but I also understand these organizations need revenue.

      same here. A girl in my class failed the written test, and driving test but every time the lectures ended, what did she do? "I'm going to TH-cam to watch Motojitsu", didn't pay attention to anything in class. Luckily she did not pass and rightly so. I gotta get back to my parking lot practices, but that helped me so much, I only failed the tight turn portion.

    I think the reason I haven't lost it in a corner yet is because I think in terms of what the bike can do, rather than what I can do.
    Because I can do anything, but the bike can only go so far. Max lean angle of 51°. You have to respect the boundaries of what the machine is capable of and match that in skill level.

    • @Bigtexbbq
      @Bigtexbbq 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      While its always good to think of what the bike can do, not many people can achieve that great of a lean angle unless they’ve been to the track and truly found that limit.

    Thank you bro for always sharing your knowledge. I'm a new rider and watched many of your videos for lessons. Just a question, i am wearing eye glasses and it keeps on fogging inside he helmet(i wear balaclava). Can you give me advise how to deal with that without the need for contact lenses?thanks man and ride safe

    • @gnarthdarkanen7464
      @gnarthdarkanen7464 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Upfront, I'm not Dan... There are a few contributing factors to fogging up glasses, though... If your covering your nose, often the exhale escapes "sideways" along the sides of your nose directly at your glasses... insta-fog action... Uncovering your nose (just a fold down) can reduce or eliminate this.
      Another possibility is while the facial shield (visor) is down, it shuts out airflow. This tends to fog up slowly over time as your body heat and humidity just keep raising in the helmet without enough ventilation to counter it. Some helmets come with adjustable vents around the top as well as low in front, and opening those will help. You can also attach some very small item to the helmet to keep the visor from closing "all the way". It really doesn't take much. Along one or both sides, even a folded piece of cardboard can wedge the visor very slightly open, promoting airflow. OR Perhaps a simple piece of something centered right at the front, can just catch the visor with a tiny gap.
      On short trips, riders are fairly well known to open the visor at stops, lights and signs and the like, just long enough to clear their vision from things fogging up under the riding conditions.
      I happen to have a helmet with vents, and basically, they're holes drilled right into the helmet, with plastic inserts added to assemble the adjustments and keep them from looking like "holes in a helmet"... SO it would seem, even if yours isn't so equipped (or just doesn't have enough of them) it shouldn't be the kind of thing you couldn't get done "after market". You just want to be careful not to turn it into "Swiss cheese", so it loses structure.
      Finally, there are anti-fog treatments... I haven't personally found any that didn't come with a side-effect of "glare issues"... Except for shaving cream. It's something I've used as "anti-fog" as long as I've been shaving in my shower. Basically, treat it like glass cleaner for your glasses... Apply a dab and thoroughly wipe clean with rag or paper towels. Don't rinse them, and they will reduce or eliminate fogging up... until they're wet enough to remove the shave cream... It works remarkably well on my shaving mirror, without issue, but I'd advise you just try the stuff and then wear them "normally" for a while to see if there are any "glare issues" before going riding like that... You know, "Test to be sure"... ;o)

      @johnduheaume6650 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Zet, I find my visor mists up if I close it too soon, does yours have a ratchet type closure so you can leave a good gap while stationary or in slow traffic, never ride with it all the way up as a stone chip or bug could hit you in the eye, 😟 , I find that if I make a point of breathing through my nose rather than mouth there is less risk of misting when riding slow, enjoy your bike, cheers John. 🌞🏍

      @zet9106 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnduheaume6650 thanks man. My issue is actually because of I wear eye glasses and balaclava at the same time. The current workaround for me right no is to just uncover the nose part and breath slowly 😅. The problem become even more annoying in cold weathers so the best i can do is to open the visor and just ride slowly.🐌🐌
