I'm not trying to change the world to my viewpoint. I response to your question, I don't think these are sacrilegious lyrics because in this song she is saying, "If you are trying to play god..." not that the person is actually God or trying to replace God in any way. "Playing God" is a well accepted secular term for anyone who thinks they are better or greater than everyone else. Hope this helps.

If some lyrics bothered some of the band members and they weren't equally accepted by EVERYONE, then they shouldn't be put in the song. Not saying he was wrong or right just giving you the explanation but I do think he ultimately had every right to feel the way he did because in the end who are we to judge someone elses personal beliefs and tell them what or what not to be offended by. Btw if you're wondering which part of the lyrics it was, it was the main chorus (out of all possible lyrics to be) where she says, "The truth never set me free, so I did it myself". In the way that this lyric is sacrilegious is; not only does it go out right against one of the main teachings in the bible (that the truth will set you free), but by saying, "so I did it myself" she is implying she is above the teaching, that it was wrong, and that in consequence, she was above God.
