Your vlogs are so well done and honest. Soothing to hear and appealing to watch. Looking forward to watching more of them particularly your opinions on Viking, Azamara and Oceania our current three favorites. And I would love to try the Fred Olson and Ambassador ships some day. Thank you!
Dan and Jay, as a former CMV fan, Ambassador is truly its reincarnation. My Ambience couldn’t sail due to her lifeboat faulty in Dec ‘22, a month after I cruised in the same weekend with you 2 on Arcadia. I made it to Ambition a year later. Both CMV and Ambassador have made cruising approachable for a single mum (to Lucy) like me. They’re people’s Olsen, P&O, Cunard and Saga. June
Having recently sailed around the Scottish islands and Faroes with Ambition I can only agree with the author of this Vlog. We have sailed with many cruise lines costing much more. Value for money is a stand out in terms of Ambition the staff, food, entertainment and overall enjoyment, was top class. I just hope a positive review does not mean an increase in prices, there are lots of cruise lines out there and I would really like you to succeed in your niche.
This ship/cruise-line looks sumptuous and appealing. When I cruise I wish to relax; not ride a rollercoaster! And I require excellent food and food choice. this is why Cunard is my goto. But since Queen Anne has been released, I am not so sure anymore. As an Aussie, Ambassador Cruises has not come into my path for choice, until now. Thank You
Thank you for your review and analysis of Ambition. My wife and I are sailing on Ambition on what will be our first ever cruise, departing from Dundee at the end of August.
Wow... She looks lovely... so comfy and beautiful colors...the more I watched, the more I liked.. I did want to sail on Ambiance because I worked on the OV2 and wanted to reminisce a bit. But Ambition's exterior always turned me off.. too boxy and too tall. But I must say, your tour really made me want to sail with her. Im adding her to my list...
Just a heads up my wife on ambition today and I said she should do saffron and she’s texted me back saying it’s 19.95 on board per person now - so looks like they have decided they can charge a wee bit more (still cheaper than sindhu I think). Also, we have done several P&O cruises and she has told me that ambassador feels more like P&O then P&O does these days - which for me is high praise indeed as circa 2012 P&O was right up my street. Not quite as much these days!
Thanks for the heads up, that must have gone up in the last few weeks, but it’s still very reasonable! Totally agree on your other point, we much preferred P&O before the pandemic. Ambassador does a good job is replicating that sort of experience! Hope she has a great time :)
Have sailed on Ambition twice now and found this review fair and accurate. My only disagreement would be about Lupinos restaurant being an all weather restaurant. In the Arctic Circle in the middle of December, it certainty isn't .
Totally agree that Ambassador offer great value, we weren’t convinced by the food though. We’re also very upset to report that we didn’t get any towel animals onboard Ambition 😢
Oh that's a shame, maybe that was because we were in a suite?! We thought that food in the MDR was better than P&O. Laura is a fuss pot though isn't she :P
We enjoyed our short cruise on Ambition, despite being an old ship, she is in excellent condition with very nice decor. The buffet offerings were quite poor and extremely difficult to find a seat just about every time we ate there. The MDR was very good, and was definitely a step up from P&O. We will most probably not cruise with Ambassador again due the the very outdated dining system. There are two set dining sessions and all guest have the same table throughout the cruise. We want flexible dining times and to share a table with different people every night. If Ambassador change their dining policy we would certainly cruise with them again.
Six of us cruised with Ambassador Ambition in July. We bagged a good deal and what with the spa facilities being complimentary we had no complaints. I am a tad concerned that this vlog compared Ambassador’s main restaurant to that of Cunard’s. As good as the restaurant was it wasn’t a patch on what I remember Cunard to offer, albeit the last time I cruised was July 2011. On a positive note because I felt the desserts were mediocre I seldom ordered one so this time I never put any weight on. 😂
Better than P&O, especially in the quality of food. Some of the best vegetarian/vegan food we've had on any cruise ship. Friendly staff, comfortable cabins, good shore tours. We love Ambition.
We agree! Ambassador has their struggles in the beginning, but they've come a long way and now offer excellent value for money. No wonder so many ex-P&O cruisers are flooding in their direction.
No one mentions visiting. Thats what good cruise ships did & Ambassador does, lots of stops, sometimes every day or other day once you get to the region. I'm booked for the 31 day in Med. Great stops & I will relax getting there. What prices are excursions on average?
I have really really been considering Ambassador for a little while now, and this put me closer to the "yes". Every line is going to have ups and downs, goods and bads -- my main question is: is it "child heavy"? Like tons of screaming children and babies in that gorgeous pool? (I know, time of year, etc., but just in general)
Having done a Northern Lights cruise in March 2024 i found that the reasonably priced, (though excellent), cruise ended up being very expensive with all the extras and after looking at booking another cruise for 2025 Ambassador appear to be pricing themselves out of the market especially if you are travelling “solo” 😢
Hiya, having g watched the vlog, very interested but not so much rd no food after 9am-11am. My husband took that to mean got to have had breakfast by 9 am. Surely not- I said it meant around other areas of the ship- could you clarify please?
Looks very elegant as a ship should be. Whoever decided that balconies were a good thing on a ship? If I was offered a free cruise on those floating shopping mall I'd politely refuse.
@@sailawaymag Sorry....I couldn't resist. LOL As Elite on Princess, I get a FREE, fully stocked mini-bar. But I have to pay for restocking, if I want it.
One thing I'd like to know is average cost for excursions? & I hope the awful practice of putting a towel on a sun lounger whilst they have breakfast etc. Ban it.
Excursions were very reasonably priced. All the ones we did were under £50 each, and we never had issues with towel hogging passengers on this ship, like we do on P&O and Marella etc.
tried them never again booked on a summer cruise to the med they couldnt fill it so last 24hr before sailing gave away drinks package and children on for £ 1 ,you can imagine the rest not enough sun beds people getting up before sun light to get towels on beds it was funny watching grown people fighting over beds food was 3 out of 10
The ship should ban towels on loungers whilst they have breakfast. They don't own them. I was going to go on one but the Costa del Sol mindset isn't for me.

I just love these older ships. They are cozy, not too crowded, and certainly not over the top unlike most modern cruise ships
Great review and in good time as we’re going on this ship next week, and this has made us look forward to it even more
Thank you so much! We’re sure you’ll have an amazing time next week!
Another terrific, thoughtful and thorough review D & J.
('Pizza's...as hard as a dartboard' 😅)
Thanks as always for watching and for your kind words. Yes, we can recommend the ship, but the pizza is pretty awful ;)

This is great to hear. I set sail in October to the fjords. I certainly won't be in the pool on the North Sea in October 🤣🤣

Great review gents. Might go on just for the curries. As you say for the price point it does the job with some things excelling.
Thanks for watching Tom! Definitely worth a try. It does a lot of things better than some of its nearest rivals!

Boarding on Thursday 😊

What is a Chargeable Mini Bar? Do you plug it in to charge it? Why does it need to be charged?
And the comedy award goes to…. It means that you pay for each item consumed, as opposed to helping yourself without charge 😊

I did Ambition 21 Dec 2023 - 7 January 2024, we intended to have been on ambience but just like the year before the ship went into dry dock🥲🥲
